A man who procrastinates in his choosing will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance.
A true friend is the most precious of all possessions and the one we take the least thought about acquiring.

RE: Biggest red pill you ever had to swallow?
^^^
I had similar experiences when I came to Silicon Valley 5 years ago and tried to get my foot in the door of the startup scene.
I was living in SF but went to an interview in Berkley.
The job I was applying for was an intern position that required a bit of knowledge about digital products and affiliate marketing.
At that point I had already been doing affiliate marketing for years and had even launched several of my own products online successfully.
So in my mind I was more than qualified for the position.
They did a Topgrading style tandem interview and asked me about the skills I had and kept delving and delving with a sort of skeptical tone.
I was tempted to ask why the hell I'm getting hardcore grilled about skills that I have that lay outside the actual job posting but give me way more experience than the average candidate.
You live in SF, why do you want a job in Berkley they ask.
Because I'd prefer to live in the South or East Bay I reply.
It felt less like an interview and more like an interrogation conducted by geeks.
So to get to the point, it's because these guys doubled up on me and I had no status or leverage in the room that I flailed around.
If I had gone in there like a boss not needing their stinking entry level crap position, instead of the desperate hobo that I actually was, living in a bed-bug infested residential hotel in Chinatown, perhaps things would have gone waaay differently.
But it's all good because that (and a few other experiences) made me realize I want nothing to do with San Francisco, Silicon Valley or its uptalking, hipster glasses wearing, startup-working-at, developer-cum-yogi stuck up geeks.
I wanted to choke these people not work for them.
In fact, that's how I got into Brazilian jiu jitsu.
There's just something about those people that makes you want to choke the piss out of them.
Fast forward 5 years and I work for myself so they can gag on their $20 food truck burritos with high Yelp reviews because I'm in Thailand doing my thang babyyyy.

There's a reason why I go into even informational interviews wearing an outfit that cost well over $1000 to put together, including italian made shoes and tie with a custom fitted charcoal suit.
Also what you described about Cali culture is why I have absolutely no interest unless I can get into an MBB consulting, banking, or VC job there...all of which are still alpha male dominated careers.

RE: Biggest red pill you ever had to swallow?
I still remember when I discovered the red pill, like it was yesterday, even though it was 16 years ago...
I had a friend in college from Sweden. Great dude, very friendly, polite and a good guy. Being a US college, he mostly hung out with the International Student group. And sadly they didn't mingle much with the typical American Frat/Sorority scene. They were sort of outsiders, yet still they seemed very happy. So I met a few other international guys from him, and they were all nice. I never really considered partying with them, but they were cool to talk to at the library or if I saw them out and about.
Then one day he invites me over the party on a Saturday night with some of his friends coming from Sweden. And I think to myself, meh, whatever. But I had nothing really better to do that night so I stop by. And in the kitchen is like 5 guys drinking high dollar beer and talking in Swedish for the most part. About what I expected, meh, I would drink a few and go to the bars.
Then I go into the living room and there are these 3 tall blonde goddesses. Like off a movie set. I almost left the room thinking my presence there was unworthy. There is no way an American woman who looked like that would want me around at that time in my life. But I could feel the warmth they displayed, so I introduced myself and started talking to them. My mind was blown. They were intelligent, informed about the world, beautiful, caring, just perfect.
I asked my friend about it later, and he said that is why they don't hang out with the American students all that much. It was the red pill I was lucky to stumble upon without being crushed or hurt.

RE: Biggest red pill you ever had to swallow?
Having a girl that I had the best sex with, setting me up for murder after few months of dating. I knew she was a psychopath but the sex was so damn good that I found hard to just dump her. I was already red pill during that time but that experience made me even more hardcore. I am just a lucky dude to be alive today. I wrote a book about it. I should have called it redpill vs psychopath haha.
My book about my almost deadly experience in DR.

RE: Biggest red pill you ever had to swallow?
My biggest redpill, along the lines of being completely on your own, is that my parents don't have my back when it comes to the dating world. I explained to my dad about a girl that had been with 6 different dudes and three weeks, and he simply said "So? You can still get to know what she's like", in a manner that suggested that I should be wining and dining her. He has this complete sucker mentality (oddly enough, he wasn't like this at all himself) when it comes to me dating. It's as if having any standards or judgements is "weird". He has the 50s mentality and is completely unreceptive to my explanation of the world changing. His divorced friends, however, understand me. The one person who should have my back, doesn't in this case. I've laid out for him the downsides to modern marriage and he thinks it's dumb for me to be apprehensive. He's gone so far as to say "We'll if you guys make it 20 years, she deserves half the money". He's told me to not be used by people my whole life yet when it comes to women I should simply throw myself on the grenade. That latest Gavin McInness thread rubbed me the wrong way for the same reasons.
Sorry for the semi-rant. If there was ever a sore point with me, this is it.
Civilize the mind but make savage the body.

RE: Biggest red pill you ever had to swallow?
I just got a dose of real red pill recently.
A good friend of mine I've known for a long time fell head over heels for this basic single mom chick. She had the red flags, tattoos, drugs, divorced parents, single mom, dead end job, etc. Whatever I told this dude hey get a hold of yourself shes not the right one for you man.
Of course he didn't like this advice I was giving him and was acting like a bitch to where I had to step away from the friendship we once had.
Anyway a year later they get married. Shes pregnant with his kid now. They've been married 6 months and just recently she packs up all her shit, moves out changes her number, and files the divorce papers. All because something that seems like a minor misunderstanding with her 5yr old kid and him. She takes the car he bought for them and some electronics he owns. Cops are called and all this bullshit is going on.
He's now got a lawyer and is pretty much on suicide watch by a couple other friends because well he's still in love with that piece of shit woman. She's putting this guy through a world of hurt right now and i'm pretty sure its only going to get worse with the divorce process and his unborn child/child custody.
Want to say I told him so but damn feel bad for the guy. I used to think that maybe it is possible for some guys to stay blue pill and live in happy land blind to the world of women around them. Thats not the case, you're only fooling yourself drinking the blue stuff. A slap of the red pill can even lead to suicide.

RE: Biggest red pill you ever had to swallow?
A friend of mine got the red pill in a big way.
Works at a government-related position with the highest security clearance you can have for a civilian. A female co-worker comes in and she has a new hairdo and he tells her he likes the way it looks on her. Woman smiles and says, "Thank you."
The next day he is called into his supervisor's office (who is also a woman) and was told the compliment was overheard and the woman who heard it felt threatened by his sexist remark. He was told the next time he complements any women in the office, he's fired. He's now looking into early retirement.
I've said it once, I'll say it again. Never work for a woman or with women.

RE: Biggest red pill you ever had to swallow?
Something that happens to a lot of guys happened to me. I had a girlfriend who had pursued me because I was higher value. A few years later I had stopped spending time with friends, stopped going to the gym, stopped having my own hobbies, and stopped having my own life because she always wanted me to spend time with her. A lot of manosphere guys will say that girls destroy your value in this way. There is some truth to that but the best way to look at is that I let my value get destroyed - it was my fault.
So my value dropped, I became needy, she left, and predictably she tried to torture me as she was leaving. My theory on why girls do this is that they are angry at themselves for having been with a lower value guy and their hamster decides to take that anger out on the guy.
Women love to manipulate and torture weak men. I used to be angry but eventually I realized that I shouldn't be angry at reality. It's like being angry at a hungry dog because he won't stop begging for your food.
Of course that situation turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me.
There is something positive in everything. Frequently, the situations which seem overwhelmingly negative as they are occurring end up creating the most positive change in your life.

1-That girls sleep with guys they just met, even raw dog.
2-That women cheat on their husbands.
3-That your value is fluid and you can be the biggest loser and still bang the hottest girl, if you are cool that day.
4-That an ugly girl might reject but a hot one like you.
5-That you'll never get out of the friend zone.

RE: Biggest red pill you ever had to swallow?
not the biggest by any means, but a recent red pill is that 30 year old women are not necessarily more mature than 20 year old women. There's often a kind of surface sophistication women affect when they start to hit the wall, but it's merely a facade. Women reach their peak maturity in their teens, maybe early twenties, and then ride out their looks as long as they can.
Ergo, I try and date women between 18-25

RE: Biggest red pill you ever had to swallow?
1. Nobody but your parents and other close family cares about your welfare - people only care about what you can do for them.
2. The average person responds better to emotional stimulus than to logical stimulus.
3. Some women won't give you a second look only because of something you can't change.
4. Some women will give you a second look only because of something you can't change.
5. Most peoples' beliefs are not congruent with reality.
And the biggest was 6:
6. You can ignore reality and let it hurt you, or you can use reality to your advantage.
A lot of this makes more sense if you read 'The 50th Law' by Robert Greene, or 'Catch-22'. They both examine the differences between what people believe reality should be and what reality really is.

RE: Biggest red pill you ever had to swallow?
I mentioned this before.
Cancer has been the biggest red pill and has taught me too many lessons to count.
One that stands out though - two Asian exes, One Indian-American, the other Chinese-American.
Now, I have talked about this before - Asian girls (from all of Asia), have white fever. All that shit that feminists spout - that every white man is a CEO Quarterback scientist hollywood director - Asian girls actually believe that shit. Which is what makes them way easier to pull.
Now, I received a great deal of support from a lot of people, and I am eternally grateful.
However, these two girls didnt contact me in any way shape or form. No text, no facebook message, shit - not even a facebook like, during the entirety of my cancer battle.
I was weak, I was "chemo-ed out", so I was no longer the living breathing symbol of white privilege that got them wet. So they disappeared from my life in my weakest moment.
That shit hurt.
