With America, like all realities, there are pros and cons. Each of our perspectives about the "macro" view is unavoidably skewed by the color of our "micro" day to day.

While there are unarguably lots of fucked things up about the US of A there is a lot that's pretty damned awesome too. But that's my own experience colored by my own life's lens. If I didn't live where I live and have what I have my overall view would undoubtedly be different

Here i'll break it down for people who have never visited or lived in America before.

Pros:

-Clean air/water and decent infrastructure for most medium to large cities.
-Relatively safe in most parts of the country if you avoid well publicized blighted areas.
-Things open on time and works as it should for the most part when it comes to daily service and business.
-Beautiful natural environment in many parts of the U.S. Easily rivals the most beautiful places in the world. Most Americans take this for granted. Europeans also don't fully comprehend how beautiful and wild parts of America's natural environment really is.
-If you're not lazy, stupid, or a criminal you can easily get to middle class from poverty. This part of the American dream is true for the most part.
-Cheap and quality products are widely available.

Cons:

-Litigious culture
-police state authoritarian interpretation and implementation of the law.
-overtaxation with little actual benefit for the regular person
-Mostly obese and mentally ill women everywhere.
-Sausage fest in most American cities.
-Crude culture with lots of social posturing
-Low IQ politics and reasoning is the norm
-Invasive and dumbed down pop culture and media personalities are celebrated in the mainstream.
-Mindless consumerism and debtor's mentality


Compared to just about anywhere in Africa it's heaven. However we're talking apples to oranges here.

I'll add as a former state bureaucrat:

Most low and mid-level government officials are, get this, honest and try to do their jobs.

Where I worked in oversight of hospitals we actually did what we were supposed to do.

If a citizen had a parent in the hospital and the person was going to be prematurely released, and the citizen called my department up, one of us would call that person up and get their story and then contact someone in charge of the patient and try to insure that things turned out OK for everyone.

And if I messed up in my job and someone complained, generally speaking someone will look at that. It would take a pattern before something happened, but you can't get away with stuff forever at the State level in progressive ( I know you love that word) states-- Minnesota, NY, California.

Also I know some people have had bad luck with cops, but in NY and California
I've also never been threatened, bullied, hit up for a bribe, or even been treated rudely by a cop despite being a habitual speeder and shitty driver.

Let's be real here, Obama is a racist who has no regard for the rule of law.

He has trampled upon the laws in the US and you can see the conservative reactionaries are disregarding the litigious functions of this society in reaction to Barack Obama's approach to the US government.

He forced the ACA (Obamacare) down the American people's throats through a twist of law and he won't even enforce immigration laws. He totally disregards the rules set in place in order to push his own agenda.

He is successfully unravelling the US government, so yes he is a terrible president.

You are wrong on Bush. Bush raised the national debt around $4.5 trillion. Obama has raised the national debt by about $11 trillion.

And raising taxes doesn't necessarily raise tax revenue. Often raising taxes lowers tax revenue. What is more 20% of $1,000,000 or 25% of $500,000?

Especially when the wars were still going on in that time frame.

- Invasion of Iraq
- Intervention in Libya (going so far as to personally visit the Libyan rebels and suggest sending ground troops to topple Gadaffi faster)

I think people read into things however they want to whether they are good or bad. It's all a shit show so being a republican or democrat doesn't matter.

I'm more than willing to give Donald Trump a chance just because we've never seen anyone like him. If the tentacles of the Pharms, oil business, Wall Street get ahold of him then it's only four years of BS. I'm sure throughout time, many Americans have been saying that things weren't as good as they use to be. Obama is not the worst president in US History, but he is definitely competing with W for the worst since WWII. He likes to say that he is on the right side of history, but I suspect that twenty years from now he will not be looked upon favorably.

Literally the only positives of his presidency that I can think of off the top of my head are his position on net neutrality, the initiation of detente with Cuba (which he then FUBARed) and the attempted initiation of detente through the Iranian virtual embassy and Alan Eyre, but then he FUBARed that with the nuclear deal. Otherwise he has been an extension of the worst aspects of W's presidency with an SJW slant.
