It's like those people had a switches in their heads ready to be activated at any moment.

Look how fast the shit in Yugoslavia escalated. Yugoslavia had not only composed of different ethnic groups but was also multi-religious. Despite that Yugoslavians were for most of the 20th century very nationalistic & lived in peace. A good economy can keep people placated for a while. But when resources get scarce and battles for survival start ... Kosovars started turning against their Serbian classmates. Serbians watched as their Bosnian neighbors got executed.

Same stuff in Syria. People who've lived in harmony for centuries suddenly go full sectarian with Sunnis mass executing Shias, Druze burning the houses of their Sunni neighbors and Christians been expelled from towns they've lived in since over a thousand years.

None of these people saw any of this coming.

We all tolerate and temporarily accept a certain group we don't particularly like but deep down cheer when something bad happens to them. I have Saudi friends. I invite them to dinner and they give me rides back home when i get too plastered at the club.But when i heard the news of the Saudi King dying earlier this year it felt good as fuck!

In my country Ethiopia for example, Somali immigrants are tolerated. But i fear if there ever was some lack of law and order, the first thing a lot of Ethiopians would do is take out their guns and start shooting Somalis. Meanwhile though they'll smile to their faces, share a cigarette and call them "my brother".

Edit: This is also the reason why in high stress environments such as in maximum security prisons, people self segregate by tribe/race/religion.

Yeah I was pretty surprised to see Blick Mang come out and say this stuff. I'm thinking he was talking more about how we deal with it and process it than what is happening in itself. He's one of my favourite posters on the forum, I hope he can chime in here with something and give his view. Sure, we can't walk round in fear 24/7 but it's not like those same fears were born out of nothing. There are some guys on here that are a little hyperbolic at times but this stuff is real. It is happening.

Predicting increased terrorism is something every poster in that thread including myself could agree with. Predicting imminent civil war leading to World War 3 is different.

I respectfully disagree with you, and here's why:

1. The media today is more powerful than it has been in the history of mankind. You are exposed to it 24/7, whether you want to be or not. The majority of modern humans believe most everything they see and hear from media. As a result, people are less likely to think rationally and freely. This makes networking a large resistance movement very difficult.

2. The state monitors all communications between their citizens. This also makes forming a resistance group difficult.

3. What do the vast majority of all modern revolutions/coups have in common (Thailand being the only notable exception I can think of)? Foreign influence and funding. There's no one out there to incite a revolution in Europe, unless Russia or the US have something up their sleeve.

I believe you will see sporadic citizen vigilantism and if we are lucky, a gradual shift to right-wing politics. Unless there's a military coup by a nationalistic general, I think Europe is most likely fucked.

Firemen are a military unit in France called Pompiers-Sapeurs, in Paris at least..part of the military engineering arm since Napoleon..they answer to:

Fire Suppression( grwnades, bombs..and such)
Emergency Basic Life Support ambulance (they have life saving instruments)
Utility Safety – Gas Leaks et al.
Personal Assistance – Victims services, SAR lost persons
Motor vehicle collision response (could happen during paic)
Protection of beings (pretty much what was it)
Patrol, Reconnaissance and Research
Animal rescue
Pollution control and HAZMAT Response
Alarm response

I haven't really listened to Eagle of Death Metal but I do know they are an offshoot project of the one of the guys from Queens of the Stone Age and I saw them open for NIN years ago and have been a fan of their music since even though I haven't had the cash or time to really be in the scene or buy a lot of CDs/online music. Such a shame.

I have wondered about this for a long time. In America we like to talk about 'the melting pot' and we are viewed as an example of diversity and multiculturalism actually working but if you look at the history of it all, it is obvious that it hasn't worked until people assimilated into a more generic view of 'whiteness'.

What I mean by that is this. If you go back not even 100 years you will see that the people who are considered generically 'white' today considered themselves to be separate groups and so did everyone else. Hell, they often fought against each other on the street level and even organized crime level.

I am talking about the Irish, Italians, Poles, Greeks, Jews, Germans, and so on. There are a number of reasons related to them assimilating into a generic 'white' identity with some small group differences between them (mainly religious and holiday based) but it would take too long to go into much detail and would derail this thread. Simply put it was due to several factors ranging from the economy of the time, compulsory socialized public education systems overtaking private schooling, and two world wars that put these men into the trenches together and created a common patriotic bond that spilled over into one of the most prosperous decades in American history.

In the near future, assuming we don't crash and burn which seems to be a bigger assumption every day, I could definitely see this "generic white identity" umbrella widening to include some lighter skinned and more secular Arabs, Indians, Asians (especially Filipinos and maybe Koreans), and probably more than any other group the lighter skinned latinos and mixed raced people with one white parent. Of course, this means assimilating and adopting traditional American values instead of expecting Americans to adopt foreign values.

What I really wonder about is how strong this coalition of 'white identity' really would be under a shit hits the fan scenario.

If we look at the prison populations, people self-group by race. While there might be some old school Sicilian mafia types, from what I understand you don't find Irish or Polish or Italian or German gangs in prison. You simply find white, and even then some of the less extreme will take in some of the Asians or lighter skinned Hispanics or other groups that aren't heavily represented in prison populations due to their demographics.

I kind of forgot where I was going with this, I just find it interesting that you have blacks and arabs who might even share the same religion and denomination who still have tribal groups. The best way I could understand this is maybe a collapse in the USA and you have New Yorkers against Texans or something, but then again I don't think the most diverse places like NYC would band together in a tribal way while Tennesseans, or more accurately Appalachians, probably would.

On a different note, I saw that one of those restaurants that was hit was listed in a popular travel guide. I don't know which guide, but I saw an interview with a woman, who sounded English, on CNN and she talked about how it was a popular destination for travelers.

One of the interesting things she said was that two gunmen walked up and started firing into the restaurant from outside. They stopped and reloaded once, fired again and then left. She said that another group, reported as some gunmen in a car, did a drive-by within a minute of the first group. She and her friend were sitting next to the window and apparently this was a very small restaurant/café that she estimated only held around 40 people and it was packed.

She said that one of the people she grabbed had been fatally wounded and she and her friend, who wasn't shot, waiting for several minutes thinking the gunmen would enter the restaurant and then ran to her apt. which was just minutes away. She had heard at the time of the interview that there were 7 killed but it has now been updated to 14 dead at that restaurant.


That's terrifying on several levels. One, it sounds really coordinated. This wasn't some whack-job walking in with a gun, but at least two teams taking turns on 'spraying and praying' into a small and cramped café. Therefore maximizing their potential kills based on the location and it's dynamics.

Second, the reporter tried to dodge and talk around this fact but it is located in a travel guide. This seems to suggest that they were intentionally targeting Americans and Westerners in general. This wasn't a café patronized by North Africans or Middle Easterners, but more likely by white westerners on vacation or studying abroad.

I have traveled enough and stayed in enough hostels, to know that many younger Westerners, especially Americans, will basically plan out their vacations or semester abroad using these travel guides because they think that is how they will get the great immersive experience on their trip.


Be safe guys. My thoughts and prayers are with all those effected by this. It is truly tragic and horrifying.

I was looking up some of the details on the concert hall and it looks to be built in a very similar way to a place I used to go and see shows at in Atlanta, GA.

So they're basically medical personnel on site ...hampered by their very cumbersome, heavy, water and fireproof clothing.

Wikipedia says, "Fire fighting has some basic skills: prevention, self-preservation, rescue, preservation of property, basic first aid, and fire control. Firefighting is further broken down into skills which include size-up, extinguishing, ventilation, salvage and overhaul."

I'm not seeing "treating major gunshot wounds." in that list. They'd do far better mobilize their equivalent of National Guard Combat Medics, who are trained in frontline trauma care in battlefields.

If they talk about the restaurant Le Petit Cambodge I went to eat there..its not overcrowded with tourists at all, I only saw french people, but its one of the few places in Paris that you can eat for cheap and very good asian meals, maybe that's why it's recommended.

Yes, the whole world is like this, and always has been.

Except for one place -- the f'ing paradise on earth known as the United States of America. A paradise, despite its many, and very real, problems and difficulties.

There will never be American neighbors turning on their neighbors and chopping off heads of people they've been laughing and joking with yesterday. That particular piece of human garbage activity will never happen here, not in St Louis, or Minneapolis, or Baton Rouge, or Reno, or Blacksburg, VA. It's exactly as absurd and unimaginable here as it seems; whereas in any other place, it's the most easily imaginable thing in the world.

That's one reason -- among many -- to stay in this country and to fight to make it a better place.

And it will finally fall to us -- as it always does -- to deal with the grotesque monsters who are behind this attack and to rid the world of them for good.
