I'm really surprised because one of my favorite stories is from a friend that tried to fuck a whale from a club. He was wasted and thought, once in my life I'm going to fuck a whale. And I'm still in tears as he describes the impossible task to get the fat legs and the belly out of the way to penetrate her. He was unable to put it in she was too fat. On twitter I keep seeing #shoutyourmurder repeating a statistic that 1 in 3 women has an abortion. That seems really high? Like 1 in 2 women in canada is sexually assaulted ludicrous, but there is at least one paper with CDC stats to support it http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/policy/a...imeab.html

1 in 3 seems high but just from my experience, I know quite a few girls who have had at least one abortion. I used to fuck with a chick who I later found out had gotten 3 abortions (none of them mine). We were only 18/19. God only knows how many she has racked up now. It's sick.

So just based on the stuff I know about from within my extended social circle I get the sense that they are fairly prevelant and that doesn't even take into account all of the ones that I've never heard about.

I think it's just so easy to do now that's it's become another thing that barely gets a second thought. It's so easy to do and to do discretely.

I feel a bit ill after typing that out.

It should be the abortions per year over the population of women in that year and then averaged over 41 years. Thats undergraduate assignment lazy right there.

edit: wait...fuck this study even more. They provide a breakdown by age groups and there is this huge abortion 'cohort' that is passing through from the late 80s that is fucking up the statistics and of course making it more common than it really is.

Pulling from the article's table data, the abortion rate for young women is actually falling alot.

% of women aged 20-29 that have had an abortion
1987 - 30.6
1994 - 30.4
2001 - 26.6
2008 - 19.3

Fuck whoever wrote this study and quotes these statistics. The abortion rate USED to be 1 in 3 women, none of those 29 year old bitches from 1987 are still getting abortions and so shouldn't be counted. The real rate of abortion today, is 1 in 5. Its down 11% since 1987 and falling at a rapid rate.

Whats happening in this study is that the cohorts of 1987 and 1994 are still being included in the 'have you had an abortion' data and then being applied proportionally to today's female population. Totally wrong.

IE, a Twitter campaign celebrating Deadbeat Dads who've abandoned their children (and the mother) and how much they're enjoying the freedom of not having to provide for or parent the children they fathered.

What's interesting to me is when you see pictures of women from previous Centuries who were literally dirt poor, nothing but the clothes on their back, surrounded by children, being able to raise a family with next to nothing, and the thought of killing one of their own never crossed their mind, as they knew that child would look after them and defend them when they got older.

Hey, that's true, I can look at my Grandparents and they had massive families. But they were rural/manual labour folk so they really needed to have big families to survive.

The reason I brought up the age of those parents is they may have known that life is a finite resource and they also knew that they could die at any moment due to harsh living conditions etc.

compare and contrast with Lindy West, treats her body like garbage, thinks she will live well into old age without changing any bad habits and quite happily wipes out her genetic lineage.

Human's weren't as self destructive back then but the elements/conditions were.

Here's the thing. They may be crazier and shriller than ever but that doesn't mean they're winning. It'll be hard to say for sure until the dust settles but often quite the opposite is true. Focus on the Family and similar evangelicals were the loudest and most shrill right as they started to become irrelevant and I suspect the same is true here.

If you look at what lets these movements succeed, more often than not it can be traced back to the federal government (e.g. "yes means yes" and "microagressions"). What happens when that gravy train dries up? All the causes that depend on it will wither and die.
