Chinese tourist chicks aren't as good looking as Viet chicks. Horrifying enough I have seen a few chubby Chinese ones.

Viet chicks just have a more defined facial bone structure, bigger eyes, more chance of dick sucking lips and some curves.

No lady boys here yet which is great. Also haven't noticed any outward gays.

Keep in mind that the phenomenon of women becoming fat and less attractive personality-wise is not limited to the US or even the Anglosphere. However very very often a daughter will follow in her mother's footsteps. If her mother is a blimp at age 45, chances are your wife will be too. Since you're considering marriage, meet and get to know her family, see family photos, etc.

Language is a huge barrier also. It's one thing to be able to learn it to transact everyday errands ("how much are the apples?" you can even say "what to be the costing of ayples" and be understood. It's quite another to have communication skills good enough for work (you're competing with native speakers.)

Met another cool Indian English guy today.

Also met a decently cool Swiss chick. She reminded me what German and Scandanavians chicks could be if they got their act together.

I had a hard time working or sometimes conducting a video meeting due to the time difference.

Think about it...only like 5 Starbucks in HCMC in a city of like 7 million maybe. That will change.

Still like most countries I rarely saw hot 8-9 quality with foreigners unless they were paying for it. Social circle is key opening better quality locals if you have the time.

Since your are looking to have children and live abroad, race is going to be an important consideration.

Mixed race children in Asia are often the object of ostracism and ridicule by their peers (I know of this happening in Japan and Vietnam, and would not be surprisedif this were the case in Asia in general.) So yeah, I know the argument that dealing with rejection builds character and all that, but do you want your children to be social pariahs an have no friends their entire childhood?

Of course I'm not saying that it should be that way, but it often is. If they were to grow up in the US or Canada it would be an entirely different situation.

In Latin America it would much less of an issue, since many people are of mixed race (European, often Spanish, mixed with Native American (Mayan, Aztec, etc.)) Having more European blood is often considered positively. Again, I am not saying that this is how it should be, soplease don't kill the messenger; I'm just mentioning an unfortunate reality.

In Europe (Poland, Ukraine or wherever) there would be no mixed-race issue since you (I'm assuming) are of European race.

Being Asian myself, I should really know about this due to my background & experiences spending time there with relatives, family friends, etc back in the day.

Least-open minded is probably Korea or Japan.

Strangest thing about Vietnam. No one plays music! Not cafes, not tea stores, not hotel lobbies, not restaurants, not hookah lounges, not taxis. Not unless you ask. It makes for a very quiet experience at any venue and I really need to tone down my American brashness. I am not too bothered, it makes things more peaceful. The excuse from locals is they don't want anyone to be unneccessarily disturbed. Still, only country I have ever been with the amount of lack of music in public spaces.

People in Da Nang give 5x the appreciation for speaking some Vietnamese. Hanoi people don't care in comparison. Da Nang seems like it has a million restaurants and plenty of beer garden places. High rise construction everywhere. Ocean helps the humidity situation especially at night. People rushed the beach assuming they were a local crowd because it happened at 5-6pm on a workday. Before that beach was a ghost town except for a few tourists. I like that they are a bit active like that. In California the water is often too cold and the people to lazy to go rush the beach after work at have fun. Hoi An has 400+ full service custom tailor/cloth makers including many custom shoe makers.

Another great option I could see living in Da Nang is to take a break from you apartment and go stay at a really great hotel resort on the beach for a weekend for I am imagining not too much money and just lounge at the pool and get a massage. Probably great for date weekends with local Viet chicks.

Champagne is relatively expensive here compared to beers or hard liquor and it seems rare to serve. $5+ a glass. Beers can be less than $1, hard liquor mixed drink $2-3. Sticking point.

@Rish: Humidity is ok. If you are used to Midwestern U.S. summers it isn't much different. I think I could get used to it. It does give incentive for better hygiene and to be leaner. Being even slightly overweight in this weather would be hell.

@mammal: With Asia I would probably bring the chick back most likely. As I have said before in the thread I think compared to EE or Latina girls there is less chance of them getting egos by being competed for by other U.S. thirsty guys or forming bad habits in general. On the surface, you could get the best of both worlds: marry a loyal, beautiful foreign wife with good values, move back to the USA because of the higher standard of living. More spectacular food.

Another interesting point is about Vietnam is the lack of police presence. In Hanoi you see more than Da Nang (seems near non-existant). I have seen only one instance of a police car with its lights on seemingly making a peaceful arrest or transport of a guy.

I have heard maybe 2 or 3 sirens the entire time I have been here.

In Colombia you hear sirens constantly every night especially. Cops on motorcycles everywhere. Every city square park has a police booth and guys standing around with machine guns. Even out in the rural towns I saw more police or state military with machine guns. Mexico the cops look like SWAT team and either driving around with their lights on at all times. Make ludicrous looking pull overs with 3 cars taking up the street in both directions. Or the cruise around slowly and almost silently like sharks.

I haven't interacted with a cop a yet here. It seems like the citizens have a good relationship with them.

Customer service here has been tremendous so far.

In Hanoi at a restaurant the owner came out and let us up to a private party room and turned on the A/C for us. Things like that and going the extra mile.

In Colombia it seemed the male waiters were very friendly and jovial.

I'd say the vast majority of women hostesses and waitresses in Colombia were stuck up or cold and acted like they didn't want to be there. Like we were a problem for them to deal with.

Mexican customer service seems in between the two, much better than Colombia as I remember.

Colombian customer service is indeed shitty! Travesty I'm really enjoying this thread and am paying keen attention to it since we have similar tastes in women. I've dated women in Colombia and Mexico too and find your reports on those countries very interesting. I think answering questions with zero wisdom on a subject is both a fool's errand and a negative hit to the forum.

The only guys that should answer this question are ones that are happily married for at least 15 years.

I have heard the same wisdom as you. You need 2 years to go through all the holidays, all the family visits to know what you are in for.

I guess I will follow that unless I hear a more convincing argument.

There are two kinda of girls that almost guaranteed escalate on me physically on a date or friendly encounter before I even think of it.

Chinese born raised and living girls or black American girls.

I don't know what it is they can't help themselves.

Back to the subject at hand.

This Chinese girl that looks Viet immediately asks to hang out when I introduce myself.

I've seen the following being a trajectory many people follow when it comes to LTR/Marriage.

1) Have an internal sense of lack, that something is missing. A faceless image of the ideal mate is created within that would be an answer.

2) Meet someone who has some of those qualities. A person who "feels" right.

3) Put blinders on so we don't see the negative qualities of the other and the relationship. We now only see the parts that fit into Stage 1. This is what's being referred to when it's said "Love is blind"

4) During the "In Love" stage all is great and the negative we originally suffered in Stage 1 is gone. This lasts about 1.5 - 2 years.

5) Towards the end of Stage 4 the original sense of lack we had in Stage 1 comes back. The blinders begin to come off and the negative aspects of the other and the relationship begin to appear. The can't stay hidden forever and it becomes unsettling. At this point the couple will either breakup or decide what's missing....what will fix everything..... is Marriage.

6) Get engaged, blinders are reset and firmly put back up into position. Now the couple spends 1 - 2 years planning the wedding and how great things will finally be once they're married. The planning is enough to preoccupy them so they can ignore all the other stuff about their relationship that will inevitably torment them later on.

7) Get married. Yay! Honeymoon and all the rest is enough to keep the blinders on for a little while more. Enough to stave off the question, "What is missing?"

8) After the honeymoon phase is over the blinders start to fall off, and soon after the negatives start to appear again, along with the sense of lack. What's missing? What will make all that go away? Wait...I know....Children!

9) So now the excitement of having a child, the planning of the nursery, the name, clothes, etc is enough to keep the blinders on for another year or so. Especially if they can avoid hard and in-depth conversations about how they will raise and discipline their child.

10) A child is born. Euphoria for a little while again until the child gets old enough to crawl, walk, talk, cry, get into mischief, etc. Then a whole new set of negatives appear in addition to all the old stuff they've been keeping themselves blind to.

11) Sense of lack comes back, loss of freedom, tons of responsibility. What can shake this all off and bring back the happy days again? How about another child? This way they can play with each other and the parents can have more free time.

Marriage and Family are tough. It tests both people in many ways they hadn't considered. Doesn't mean one shouldn't do it, or avoid the standard trajectory of things.

It also doesn't mean waiting 3, 4, or 5 years before marriage will be a guarantee for success. Though it may improve your odds significantly because the blinders can only stay on for so long during a specific Stage.

The only real thing I think helps is knowledge of the trajectory. The knowing/seeing of it helps a person navigate it and see when they have the blinders on. That's the most important thing. Along with knowing and accepting the negative and suffering are always waiting for us down the road.

Most people seek out an LTR to be free of the suffering of being single/alone. Once they've been in the LTR for awhile they are yearning to be free of that suffering and single again.

It's natural and knowing that about oneself can help immeasurably when confronted with it. At least that's been my own experience. Engaged twice, never married, but do still long for the idea of it and a family.

I counted I have banged 4 Chinese born and raised girls and 2 Chinese American with traditional Chinese parents.

This girl then leaves room without her key to take a shower. 5 other people are trying to sleep. She comes back from shower and repeatedly knocks louder and louder until someone gets up and answers at 6:30AM.

There is a front desk she could have asked them to open the door.

Also couldn't imagine a Viet girl doing this so far.

One of the Chinese girls I banged took a 45 minute shower spontaneously right when our foreplay was turning into guaranteed sex. Can appreciate the showering, not the selfish 45min making me wait on the bed with my dick in hand.

For instance how sweet Viet girls are the 6.0 CouchSurfer girl we saw one more time last night tried to pay for all of us for a $25 USD meal, and she has never had the chance to leave Vietnam. She was barely on her phone especially compared to the Chinese girl. I can say all the Chinese girls but 2 were very connected to their phone. The Viet girl almost was tearing up from sadness saying her last goodbye to us.

Can never imagine a Chinese girl from my experience doing the same.
