Dude, who is going to pay for "our" healthcare when we're old? The ever expanding welfare class? The American people are sick because they treat themselves like trash and don't save money for hard times.
Meanwhile they elect politicians who scam the system in favor of insurance companies to make maximum profits while doing nothing to improve the quality of care.

RE: Why are people on this forum so anti-Bernie Sanders?
I'm probably the furthest thing from a Bernie supporter, though I can't deny the serendipity of the Verizon strike working in his favor.
Though I don't buy a lot of his socialist horse shit, he's right about Verizon in a lot of ways - especially outsourcing, and it analogs.
I've got experience dealing with their business units and they love to hire H1-Bs with questionable credentials, outsourced "project managers" in the Philippines and other bottom of the barrel, low cost personnel. Every last one of them I've checked out has very thin or nonexistent LinkedIn profiles. In the tech world, that tells me they're untalented or lack ambition - anyone else would build that up to attract better offers now and again.
From the Union's perspective, I'm actually surprised this doesn't happen more often at Verizon, but Unions are a funny thing - as long as they got paid right all these years they probably didn't give a shit about the H1-B threat building up all over the place.
But it's game on now - 40,000 motherfuckers walking off the job just made the rest of the company scramble to cover on the shortfalls, enough so that other business units have had to alert customers to the alternate support crews filling in while the more experienced people go try to put out the fires. I bet it is absolute chaos right now at Verizon headquarters. Serves the cucks right.
Quote:AS 40,000 VERIZON workers went on strike Wednesday to protest cuts to health care and pensions, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders rallied with some of them in New York City, blasting the company’s practices.
“This is just another major American corporation trying to destroy the lives of working Americans,” Sanders told the workers, who decided to strike after failing to reach a contract. “Today you are standing up not just for justice for Verizon workers, you’re standing up for millions of Americans who don’t have a union.
Meanwhile, Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam published a lengthy essay on LinkedIn titled “Feeling the Bern of Reality — the Facts About Verizon and the ‘Moral Economy,’” in which he called Sanders’s views “contemptible.”
McAdam took issue with statements by Sanders blasting the company’s tax avoidance and offshoring, and asked the senator to “show me a company that’s done to more to invest in America than Verizon.”
“I understand that rhetoric gets heated in a presidential campaign. I also get that big companies are an easy target for candidates looking for convenient villains for the economic distress felt by many of our citizens,” he concluded. “But when rhetoric becomes disconnected from reality, we’ve crossed a dangerous line. We deserve better from people aspiring to be president. At the very least, we should demand that candidates base their arguments on the facts … even when they don’t fit their campaign narratives.”
The response to McAdam’s post was effusive — from other Verizon executives:
(proceeds to show what's probably corporate-mandated responses by Verizon middle managers - nearly all of them women - on twitter)
Quote:Missing from the post and the congratulatory lovefest from executives was any recognition of the grievances of the striking workers. For example, McAdam complains about $1.4 billion in health care costs, but does not cite the fact that the company has seen spiking revenue for the past three years — from $120.6 billion in 2013 to $131.6 billion in 2015. Operating cash flow last year was at $38.9 billion. McAdam’s own compensation rose 16 percent from 2013 to 2014, topping out at $18.3 million.

RE: Why are people on this forum so anti-Bernie Sanders?
Like most socialised services, the vast majority of the citizenry only think it's a good idea because they have no clue how much of their lives are spent toiling for the grossly mismanaged provision of said services. Taxation in socialist nations like Australia has become so subtle yet pervasive that it's like a man walking around with a hundred leeches on his back, never understanding why he feels so damn tired all the time.
Imagine I walk up to you and say "you're working every Saturday from here until retirement, but you're not getting paid for it. Your human capital is going toward the medical industry on behalf of you, and that particular fat guy over there who refuses to stop eating cheeseburgers."
You would rightfully be pissed off, yet that's precisely the arrangement that taxpayers suffer under now.
p.s. I you ever worked in the Australian public medical sector you would be appalled at the sheer amount of corruption and outright waste. Over a decade spent in and around Australian hospitals has shown me that optimistically speaking at least half of all the money that goes into the health sector is utterly wasted.
And Samseau is right. These services will not be around when we start needing home care and hip replacements. Anyone below 40 years old has been sold at top dollar a bill of goods that will never be delivered.
The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

RE: Why are people on this forum so anti-Bernie Sanders?
Paul Krugman blasts Bernie Sanders with some hard-hitting arguments:
Quote:Quite a few people seem confused about the current state of the Democratic nomination race. But the essentials are simple: Hillary Clinton has a large lead in both pledged delegates and the popular vote so far. (In Democratic primaries, delegate allocation is roughly proportional to votes.) If you ask how that’s possible — Bernie Sanders just won seven states in a row! — you need to realize that those seven states have a combined population of about 20 million. Meanwhile, Florida alone also has about 20 million people — and Mrs. Clinton won it by a 30-point margin.
The Sanders campaign is arguing that superdelegates — the people, mainly party insiders, not selected through primaries and caucuses who get to serve as delegates under Democratic nomination rules — should give him the nomination even if he loses the popular vote. In case you’re rubbing your eyes: Yes, not long ago many Sanders supporters were fulminating about how Hillary was going to steal the nomination by having superdelegates put her over the top despite losing the primaries. Now the Sanders strategy is to win by doing exactly that.
Who’s the target of this ploy? Not the superdelegates, surely. Think about it: Can you imagine Democratic Party insiders deciding to deny the nomination to the candidate who won the most votes, on the grounds that African-American voters don’t count as much as whites?
No, claims that Clinton wins in the South should be discounted are really aimed at misleading Sanders supporters, giving them an unrealistic view of the chances that their favorite can still win — and thereby keeping the flow of money and volunteers coming.

A few of the most upvoted comments:
Quote:Yes, Sanders probably didn't do enough to engage Southern black people. But one main reason they went for Hillary was of fear - because the alternative, Cruz or Trump, would be so much worse. Better to go with who you know than who you don't know. And Hillary would never, ever work to overturn the voting and civil rights laws, as too many Republicans are just salivating to do.
It's not even remotely realistic to believe that outside of a tiny fringe on the right anyone has any plans on overturning voting and civil rights laws.
Quote:As to Sabders' vagueness about how to break up the big banks, as reported in the Tmes tonight, regulators have also been vague with the banks about how they should design their living wills, due to the banks' ability to adapt to specific requirements. As Bernie knows, it is up to the President and the Congress to decide what the overall policy should be. It is up to the regulators and the banks themselves to implement it. He would make an even bigger fool of himself and make himself far more vulnerable if he were to be specific, because there is no way he can know just how it should be done.
Bernie supporter here presents the case that Bernie obviously doesn't understand banking or economics but yet we are supposed to just buy into this "plan" wholesale just because.
Quote:Then the unneeded voter ID law imposed a major poll tax for my valueless vote--so instead I donated my poll tax to Bernie. The so-called GOP hates birthright citizenship, eh? I renounce my birthright Texian citizenship and am now a stateless American of the No-Vote-for-You
Party.
Typical super left retard with dumb ideas like not requiring ID for voting and equating existing laws with a racist poll tax.

"If I can't be rich, no one else should either." That about sums up the views of these people.
It's the same with everything they believe.
Citizen's United: "Companies shouldn't be able to spend unlimited amounts of money because I can't. That's unfair.
Gay marriage: If gays can't get married that's unfair.
Tranny bathrooms: If trannies can't use the bathroom they feel comfortable with, that's unfair.
Black crime: If black's don't make as much as white's thats unfair.
Feminism: If women can't fuck around like guys do, that's unfair.
Everything is about so-called "fairness" with these people. Everyone should be treated the same, whether they're murderer's, drug dealers, pastors, degenerates, everyone.
If you're not rich, it's because someone stole that money from you, you weren't born with privilege, discrimination, racism, patriarchy, etc. It's never because you didn't pick up your fat ass off the couch and go get that money, or instead of hustling you post a dissertation on reddit about why the rich are horrific abominable people.
These leaches disgust me. They think it's their given right to steal money from people that are more successful then they are.

We've seen the real world consequences of letting the richest folk do whatever they want with the money they've earned. Rather than invest any of it back into the country, they set aside portions of it to bribe politicians and sneak the rest out of the US.
If putting an end to that is considered theft by a vocal minority of forum shitposters, I don't really care.
I'm not convinced that Bernie has what it takes to plunder those stagnant off shore cash reserves but I'm glad there's at least one popular candidate who is willing to try.

This is a completely not understanding how the system works.
The rich people can bribe the govt., because the govt. is so large and involved in every aspect of our life. Giving that over sized govt. even MORE power is not the answer. How is giving our corrupt govt. more power, that is owned by the elites, literally the Federal Reserve is a private owned bank that they own, going to end the corruption?
And the elites don't pay taxes, they never have and they never will. They will find some place to move their money around the world or invest it in some tax haven. When you raise taxes on "the rich", you are just raising them on the upper middle class (doctors/lawyers) and on the small business.
In fact, most elites push for higher taxes, see Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, for this very reason. The more the taxes, they more they control our lives and more importantly the more they can crush their small business competition.
If Bernie's ideas worked, then some where, some time, in the history of the world, the evil collectivism system of some type would have worked. Instead all it has lead to is starvation by the millions, desperation, and destruction. See Mao's China, USSR, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cuba, South America in general, the ghettos in the USA, and now Western Europe.

^This.
Walker, you need to learn the difference between having lots of money and having lots of production. If you robbed the rich and added a zero to everyone's income then the laws of supply and demand would cause a zero to be added to the price of everything and nobody would be better off.
This is why retarded socialist nations inevitably end up setting price controls that wind up destroying productivity, despite the fact that anyone with a brain knows that increasing productivity is the only thing that drags people out of poverty.
The USSR had carte blanche on a region with tremendous amounts of resources and they still fell in a miserable heap after decades of inflicting unimaginable horrors in the quest for their tyrannical utopia.
Argentina has been swimming in oil for decades and their nation is still a miserable breadline failure of a shithole teetering on anarchy.
Just how many examples past and present do you need to get your shit straight?
The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

Never have, never will? How sure of that are you? Their plans are imperfect, and even if everything required for them to never pay taxes physically exists in the world, there's no way they have a perfect, unbeatable plan to take advantage of it all.
It would take a big shift in the priorities of our politicians for enough pressure to be put on the elites. Bernie's something like a pioneer for that. He won't make it all happen single handedly and I'm pretty sure he's resigned to that, based on his tax plan and on how he conducts himself in interviews. But I still like him for making offshore wealth hiding into a mainstream media talking point. Something that younger, healthier, more skilled politicians can pick up and run with.

Western Europe is still quite strong and quite important economically, despite the fact that the millions of third worlders they've imported can't be considered anything but bad for their health. They will suffer for that mistake but it will never get anywhere near as bad as USSR collapse levels, be sure of that.
Those other examples you mentioned have a lot of difference from bernie's ideas. Most notably they were very eager to kill dissidents, unlike bernie. If a country's best and brightest knows they can be killed over a disagreement with the government or a misunderstanding, they all leave or become fifth columns.

More productivity = more domestic wealth is the way things work in a healthy economy, but it's not what we have right now. What we have right now is, the fruits of american productivity go to panama. And a bunch of the people who are getting screwed by that either support the screwing because they have temporarily embarrassed millionaire syndrome, or resign themselves to the screwing because they think the elites are invincible.

I am damn sure of it. It is how the real world works. Sure, Buffet pays his 15% on his long term investment income, and taxes here and there. But his net gain by strong arming the govt. into not building a pipeline and oil refineries being forced to use his train companies to ship oil more than make up for it. And the same is true for all elites. The elites OWN the govt. and nothing will change this, ever. The more govt. the more they own.

Where have you been? This forum is full of information and real world accounts of western Europe. It is collapsing. They are in such bad economic shape that they are removing pensions and forcing govt. workers to be fired or work for free and now getting desperate enough to enact negative interest rates. And this doesn't even include they are being invaded by the rapefugees.

Yes, of course this is how things are working. The more govt., the more small businesses get crushed and the more the large corporations can commit this kind of fraud on the middle class.
I know your heart is in the right place, but you BADLY need to learn your history and your current events, and then learn how the monetary system works, double so under a fiat currency. Because when you learn all of this, you will learn why Bernie Sanders and his badly outdated ideas are a joke.

Sanders is not liked because he is championed by detestable people.
These effete sjw need to keep up their Disney world view or they break into tears, cf. calls of Bernie fans to the deep south. People were becoming violent and crying. Compare this to normal people who have had to work at call centers. Yes it is hard. No that doesn't mean you get to threaten the other guy with violence and cry when he hangs up. Weak.
To this end Sanders must run his campaign in a way which assumes their "pet" causes. He is in a real way a champion of his followers much more than they are followers of his cause.
Many of these pet causes lead directly to low quality women. From here it is immediate that anyone on rvf would not support Sanders without serious consideration.
It is delusional to think Sanders will have any success at all in passing any tax reform.
Indeed if elected I suspect he will lead the least influential presidency in recent history. Do you want to elect someone who will, by your own admission, probably fail? You don't get to feel sorry for yourself if he fails because you knew it all along.
If you care so much about corporate tax evasion, why not consider Trump who is also strong on the issue but has been known to get things done in a hostile environment?
Is it because tax evasion is not a core reason for why you support Bernie, and that you are pretending that it is to fit in here? Because I have known bernie supporters since he announced and they care a lot more about racism and free college.
If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.

RE: Why are people on this forum so anti-Bernie Sanders?
While I like Trump more than the rest of them just because he either turns it around or crashes the country into the ocean, I don't think he is the poster child of tax reform. His empire is built on real estate which has huuuuuuuuuuge tax benefits and tax deferring strategies like 1031s. Also, he makes a lot of contributions with with real estate that don't Impact his operations (like easements) but provide him tax breaks also.
As the race has tightened with Clinton, but at the same time he knows he is running out of states to compete in, he has started to act more and more like the Millenials he represents. A lot more snark, one of his surrogates dropped the word whore into a speech and he made an irrational decision to fly to Rome (or wherever) to make a speech. Rather than campaigning in NY.
He won't be able to pass any legislation if the Republicans hold onto Congress.
I'll say this again aboit free college. If there are no jobs that require a college degree then you just have free college educated people working in fast food. Just that they will be more bitter. He is just jacking up supply with no boost to demand.

Not really.
My argument is less "why aren't you all rushing out to vote Sanders" and more "why are people coming down hard on him for the best thing he's done with his campaign, which is repeatedly calling out tax evaders, when other candidates won't go anywhere near that issue".
The answer I've gotten so far is that it's naive to think you can tax the elites at all, but I don't buy it.
Nobody is criticising him for being against tax evasion. The criticism is:
1. Tax evasion is tangential to his campaign
2. He is unskilled
I just went to his web page. On the " issues " page there are probably thirty issues he stands for.
Tax evasion does make an appearance. Take a moment and guess where on the list it is placed. Is it first? Second? Surely third? If there are other issues which come first, what could those issues be?
It is dead last. Go read some of the issues Sanders prioritizes:
https://berniesanders.com/issues/
Quote:Income and Wealth Inequality
It's Time to Make College Tuition Free and Debt Free
Getting Big Money Out of Politics and Restoring Democracy
Creating Decent Paying Jobs
A Living Wage
Combating Climate Change to Save the Planet
A Fair and Humane Immigration Policy
Racial Justice
Fighting for Affordable Housing
Fighting for Women's Rights
Working to Create an AIDS and HIV-Free Generation
Fighting for LGBT Equality
Empowering Tribal Nations
Caring for Our Veterans
Medicare For All
Strengthen and Expand Social Security
Fighting to Lower Prescription Drug Prices
Fighting for Disability Rights
Senator Bernie Sanders' Plan for Puerto Rico
General Electric Must Pay to Restore the Hudson River
Constitution Pipeline Must Be Defeated
Supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities
Ending the Race to the Bottom
Fighting for the Rights of Native Hawaiians
Improving the Rural Economy
Fighting for Nurses
Reforming Wall Street
Real Family Values
War and Peace
War Should Be the Last Option: Why I Support the Iran Deal
Making the Wealthy, Wall Street, and Large Corporations Pay their Fair Share
How Bernie pays for his proposals
Dead last. If you think bernie is campaigning against corporate tax evasion I am afraid you have misunderstood his priorities. He is much more of a "increase minimum wage and tax the wealthy" candidate. Of all of the things he says tax evasion is the least important to his campaign, and I'm afraid you are just a wishful thinker.
