Feel the bern. They couldn't even manage the financial side of a small shitty podunk college and Jane Sanders left a poison pill that ended up shutting Burlington college down.

But financial strain and academic probation created by an ambitious but ill-fated expansion under then-President Jane Sanders onto a new campus on prime waterfront land led to the school's demise, officials said.

Holm and Moore declined to criticize Sanders, who served as president from 2004 to 2011.

But in a statement Monday morning, the college blamed debt from the land deal as a primary reason for the school's closure.

Holm suggested the college’s plan to pay for the waterfront campus was unachievable.

“I believe the vision was enrollment would grow, which it did, but not at the level that would have allowed us to manage the financial debt we
had incurred,” Holm said. “So here we are.”


The college in 2010 purchased 32 acres along North Avenue from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington for about $10 million. The diocese put the property — including its 77,000-square-foot headquarters building — on the market to help pay costs from priest-abuse litigation.

So under Jane Sander's "leadership" the college cut some sweetheart deal with the Catholic church to buy some land valued at around 10 million dollars. It would be interesting to see what the actual value of that land is.

No purchase this large just happens out of the blue. Lots of politics, corruption, and other kickbacks involved i'm sure in true communist fashion.

That College closing isn't just an example of poor accounting but also absolute ignorance on future planning and fore-thought.

Prime real estate is that for a very good reason, you pay a premium to be at the front so everybody can see. The only problem with this is the liberal Arts College tag and absolutely nobody gave a fuck about who they were because lets be honest here, Harvard could run on debt because its Harvard. Who the hell are they?

Whats also worrying is no accountability for this. She should be blamed as should the people who approved of the move. Someone in accounting approved the figures but had no real knowledge of where the money would come from apart from "they will come if you build it".

Now what they might do is sell it off as a convention centre or demolish it for apartments.

This drama is a beautiful thing to watch unfold. I've been reading as many of the Democrat hand wringing articles as I can about the Nevada incident. They are imploding hard and multiple senior Democrat party officials have stepped in to try and establish ground rules at future conventions. They are planning on treating convention goers like little children and calling for senior Bernie staffers to be on hand to police their people. I expect authoritarian nanny state controls at the next convention to prevent a repeat of Nevada.

Also in other news rumor is Bernie has burned through most of his massive 200+ million dollar campaign war chest. Bernie and Hillary usually trade spots as #1 or #2 most raised campaign funds amongst Democrats as well as Republicans. That's ridiculous.

I've long speculated that Bernie is not serious about his campaign, the way he just wants to "talk about the issues" and how he handles Hillary with kid gloves.

I think he's simply robbing his supporters and funneling millions of dollars away to some account so he can retire when all is said and done.

Anyhow, you're not the only one to suspect Bernie of running some kind of scam. I don't think he's a complete scammer but a self interested low ambition guy running a political con game on his people. There's a lot of self interest in the attention and financial awards he's recieving so he's allowing it to run as long as possible.

$200 million is a huge amount of cash to blow on a campaign that does not look more or less effective than any other generic campaign out there. His people also claim that they do most campaigning on their own through grassroots measures. So that brings up the major point..where the fuck is all that money going?

You have a retirement aged man entering into his twilight years running on an implausible platform. An incompetent wife who already bankrupted a college. They are sitting on a fortune which is supposedly "dwindling" now. What is going on exactly? The evidence doesn't look good so far.

The guy is in his 70s, has been in the Senate for a long time, yet his net worth is only around $400k. I don't think he's a scammer, at least in purely financial terms. He might have a personal power/influence angle though.

In any case, better he spends all the money he's raised on his campaign instead of transferring it over to Hillary's.

The iconic comic actor and outspoken marijuana advocate tells The Hollywood Reporter that the Sanders campaign was happy to have his endorsement months back, but when it came time for the two men to appear in public together, someone got "cold feet," he says.

"It's lip service to get the votes, but they don't want to endorse what I stand for and what I've stood for all my professional career," Chong said right after he was uninvited to the rally. "It was an insult."

In a email to THR, a Sanders spokesman said, "We appreciate his support but a scheduling issue came up."

Chong, who was invited on Sunday to Sanders' noon rally in Lincoln Park, says he is sure the campaign put distance between himself and Sanders over the marijuana issue, calling the move a "weakness" by the Sanders' camp. He joked that his hair and makeup were done for nothing.

Chong says he already did a radio interview early Monday morning talking about how excited he was to introduce his candidate.

"Now I'm going to look like a fool, like one of those guys who starts bragging about something that isn't true," he tells THR. "And I don't like that because my endorsement means a lot because of what I have gone through and what the whole [marijuana] culture has gone through."

In January, Chong released his endorsement video, made by the Grassroots Community, in which he praised Sanders' positions on numerous issues, including the legalization of marijuana.

I can't wait for the autopsy documentary on the Sanders campaign - I bet a lot of suicides occur from the truth.

I know that sound harsh, but some of his supporters are fanatical. When the reality hits them, it is going to hurt.

And most (not trying to pick on the sound strong men on this forum) of them are young and stupid. It will crush them. And they have no coping tools.

What kind of safe space will protect you while you heal from being that duped. I mean to buy that much snakeoil - honestly, what can your contribution to society be?

Trump needs to channel the frustrations of many Berners into his campaign. Mainly:
-the system is rigged: both the nomination process, and the economy at large
-globalism is terrible for nearly everybody, big issue for many Berners, Trump is on their side there and Hillary is not.
-Sanders hasn't attacked Clinton (too little too late, either because he's too meek, or because he's in the same camp). Many of his supporters wanted him to be more aggressive and to go for the jugular, Trump will.
-Trump should avoid attacking Sanders directly, doing so would help Clinton.
