At least the left wants to raise taxes to pay for their spending. The right just charges it to the credit card and kicks the can down the road. If I have the choose between the two I take the left on fiscal responsibility.

Food for thought

http://money.cnn.com/2016/02/08/news/eco...d=21086984

Quote:Median income would soar by more than $22,000. Nearly 26 million jobs would be created. The unemployment rate would fall to 3.8%.
Those are just a few of the things that would happen if Bernie Sanders became president and his ambitious economic program were put into effect, according to an analysis given exclusively to CNNMoney. The first comprehensive look at the impact of all of Sanders' spending and tax proposals on the economy was done by Gerald Friedman, a University of Massachusetts Amherst economics professor.
Friedman found that if Sanders became president -- and was able to push his plan through Congress -- median household income would be $82,200 by 2026, far higher than the $59,300 projected by the Congressional Budget Office.

America's biggest problems are the inefficiencies of its tax system, government fiscal mismanagement not to mention the prison and military insdustrial complex which gobbles up a gargantuan amount of tax dollars. General Eisenhower, perhaps the last of the true great American leaders warned against this back in 1961. The worst damage done to America happened on the Republicans watch, in particular Nixon, Reagan and Dubya.

Sanders is simply saying that instead of ploughing trillions into the army and pointless foreign policy follies, how about investing that money into infrastructure, education and tackling youth unemployment.

Quote:Many presidential hopefuls say their economic programs would boost growth. Donald Trump and Jeb Bush justify their big tax cuts by saying GDP would grow at a 4% rate. But their plans have been panned by experts as overly optimistic.
Friedman, however, argues that Sanders' plan would be more stimulative because it is pouring money into the economy, as opposed to cutting taxes. Several of Sanders' proposals -- such as spending $1 trillion on infrastructure -- will happen in the first few years of his administration.

As bad as Sander's plan is (it's just spending money on debt), it's still way better than what we have now. Laugh That's how fucked we've been over the past 8 years - the gov has still been spending tons of cash, but probably less than 10% has gone to the people.

Ideologically speaking, Bernie really isn't any different from the other Democrats we know. He's just marketing his whole campaign using the fraud of democratic socialism.

Was in the other room while I heard sanders' victory speech. The crowd was loud and energetic. However, naive to be polite if I may say so. He proposes free college education. Fine, the taxpayers foot the bill. However, with companies setting up shop overseas like Pfizer etc, you will have a bunch of unemployed graduates who won't be able to pay taxes that support this system. Thus, it will stop and other cuts to the budget will happen. Just a matter of time.

Sweeeeeeet. I just got a tingly adrenaline shot when I woke up in Spain and checked the results and saw that Sanders anally raped without lube HRC by 22 points. I'm locked in at 8 to 1 and looking at a 40K payday if Sanders becomes president. I could actually cash out my bet early right now and be up almost 5K. Odds have tightened a lot since last night.

I honestly don't care on a personal level who becomes President. Same shit, different day. But as I've written here a couple weeks ago, when I read some comments supporters of Sanders were making, and saw some video interviews, and then looked into his astonishing campaign donation statistics (millions of different donors giving small amounts even though they are poor) I decided that he was much more than a long shot.

The good news is, whatever happens from an "exercise of democratic process" perspective, there is a good chance this bolshevik thief strokes out before 2017.

He has zero chance. Just false competition for Hillary. He's losing by about 400 delegates already and all of Vermont declared for Clinton.

You better take the profits while you can, I doubt he wins more than a few states here on out.

I strongly disagree. I am 99% certain that he will be the democratic nominee.

There is absolutely no way that the democratic party will nominate HRC on the basis of "super delegates" if she is clearly defeated in a state by state vote count, which she will be. If there is a very close vote with a narrow Sanders lead, then yes, that will leave the door open for her to twist arms and call in favors for some back door dealing.

And I'd give Sanders a 70% plus chance against Trump in the general election.

At this point I'm going to make a separate bet (equal or greater than the first) for Sanders to be the nominee and let my bet on him taking the presidency ride.

Honestly, I think the issue with Sanders is that a lot of people on RVF are strongly pro Trump. They probably realize that Trump would crush HRC in a general election, but would likely lose to Sanders (not for sure, but likely).

I have the advantage of not being emotionally invested in any of this. I just thought 8 to 1 on Sanders was a steal. I also think the current 3 to 1 line on him getting the nomination is a great way to make some cash.

The Clinton name carries a lot weight with black Americans and she is expected to win there over Bernie. It remains to be seen how Bernie will perform outside of the white/liberal/hipster areas.

Bernie might win 10 states against Trump head to head. If Bloomberg runs, Panders probably wins less than 5.

He won't get past Hillary anyway. She has a 29 point margin on him in SC, 20 in Nevada, 30 in Mass, etc. She's pretty much beating the guy by 20+ in every state. He's only running because he wants to swing her further left.

The guy is a pussy. He talks about how she's right all the time, to stop bringing up the emails, brings up the wage gap, etc.

He would get demolished against Trump. All we'd have to do is post this picture anywhere and everywhere.

She will lose. She is a complete turd of a candidate and 100% bought.

I think you underestimate the black vote and people's ability to percieve their own self interest.

Bill Clinton, in his prime, held the loyalty of black voters with his charisma, image, and jedi level political skills. HRC has none of those qualities.

HRC's supposed support among blacks will evaporate the more they see of her. Conversely the more they learn about Sanders the more they will like him.

Why?

It makes sense.

If you are black, poor, or uneducated (or all three, they often go together), it is in your personal interest to vote for Bernie Sanders.

I would if I was in their situation.

Sanders also gets the vote of the overeducated underemployed HuffPo/NYT crowd, as well as the youth vote.

I think the demographics and dynamics of the race highly favor Sanders.

You may think I don't have a feel for US politics, but I do not arrive at my conclusions lightly, and feel that they accurately reflect where this is going. Otherwise I would not have bet.

Ummmm...that article is a pro Hillary hatchet piece that would fit nicely in other extensions of HRC's propaganda team, i.e. WaPo and NYT. It isn't even subtle.

How can I tell?

Quote:It goes without saying that, apart from early pre-Labor Day polling, Sanders was always favored to win New Hampshire

Factually incorrect. Sanders was behind in polls until early January.

Anyway, I actually like seeing articles like this. Otherwise there wouldn't be people betting money on HRC to take the nomination, and I wouldn't get action or odds.

As much as people tout Bernie as "anti-establishment", don't forget that he is still very strongly a part of that establishment and will bend to any ludicrous desire they make (either because he's already on board with them for decades or because he's spineless and can easily be bullied into submission as seen in that BLM incident). For example, look at what the thinks about Russia:

Quote:" To temper Russian aggression, we must freeze Russian government assets all over the world, and encourage international corporations with huge investments in Russia to divest from that nation’s increasingly hostile political aims. "

"Bernie believes the United States should isolate Putin politically and economically. "

RE: Why are people on this forum so anti-Bernie Sanders?
^^^

I actually think it is a reverse "Bern" that HRC will feel.

It is HIGHLY damaging for HRC to get the same number of delegates as Sanders despite a crushing loss.

It feeds directly into Sanders simple and powerful message, that the system is rigged by the 0.1% and HRC is part of that corruption.

I make no comment on whether or not this is a valid/rational political platform, or if Sanders proposed solutions are the way to go, only that it is a message that resonates strongly with many people. And HRC is playing right into his hands.

Consider this, since the NH primary, Sanders has raised over 7 Million USD, which is a lot. But what is even more significant is that the average donation was only $34 USD. Which works out to approximately 206,000 individual donations in only 2 days.

HRC's malfeasance energizes Sanders supporters.

"Winning" Iowa with 6/6 coin tosses, equaling delegate counts for NH despite losing every demographic except those earning 200k+.

Refusing to release transcripts of 200K speeches to Goldman Sachs, etc etc.

Short of being caught on video accepting bags of cash or cocaine while cackling maniacally, it is heard for me to imagine how HRC could make herself look any more corrupt, insincere, or cynical at this point.
