I still think JV would be Trump's ideal running mate, it would infuse a tremendous amount of new energy into his campaign and emphasize Trump's main attribute as an independent, incorruptable outsider. He's just as big an enemy of the Globalists as anybody out there. He'd seriously undermine Hillary's base by securing a solid segment of Sanders voters while also softening up the edge that the MSM has built up around Trump. Ventura appeals to minorities without diluting Trump's alpha male appeal. He would boost Trump's blue collar appeal in the Rust Belt, deliver libertarian-minded swing states like NV, CO, AZ, NH and put blue states like WI and MN in play.

I don't think it's going to happen though, Trump's camp does not seem to encourage outside the box thinking, they will lead him to pick a more conventional VP candidate.

I feel a frustration similar to LOZ's. There is so much potential in what Trump could be doing. He could be, if not out of sight, at least holding a steady and solid lead of a few points over Hillary by now had he made better decisions.

There are so many important issues he could emphasize, ones that he has shown he truly cares about, ones that the people care about, yet he consistently chooses not to talk about them much. The people need to see much more of that version of Trump.

Back when he was being hammered about the tranny restroom thing, there was a story about the Coalition of African-American Pastors (CAAP) being outraged that SJW's and the left were equating the "struggle" of trannies with what blacks went through. If you remember, Trump already had black pastors speak at his events. It would have been the perfect opportunity to make a play for a larger swath of the black vote. He could have had this group on a stage and talked about how the Democrats have ignored blacks for years and don't really care about them, or a similar framing to that effect.

There were numerous golden suggestions from others here that would have done wonders for the campaign.

It's tough to see him make the missteps or fire blanks, because he has enormous potential to do better, to win, and because the stakes of this election are higher than any other in decades.

He has every chance to win, he just needs to be the Trump who we've seen win people over in real time. He needs to move away from telling people why they should vote against Hillary and instead start giving people more reasons to vote for Trump. Make the campaign about the positive changes he can bring. Hopefully some changes are coming.

I can understand why some were underwhelmed by his rally in Richmond, but I really don't think we need to worry. It's a long road to November and Trump is just pacing himself -- it would be unwise to unload his best ammo so soon. Besides, look at all he's done just in the past week...

Some might say The Donald put his foot in his mouth with his comments about the Trump University judge. While that may be true to an extent, he's also helped to raise public awareness about La Raza and how unlikely it is for a judge with such ties to be truly impartial, in the process.

I know we'd love to see him knock the ball out of the park every time he steps up to the plate, but that just isn't realistic. Cut him a little slack. I'm hoping he'll drop some real bombshells during his speech on the Clintons next week.

None of those things listed have much to do with selling his ideas or furthering his message, telling people why they should vote Trump, that's what I'm talking about. They are about Hillary or fixing his missteps.

This didn't matter as much during the primary, but now it's starting to matter. More and different people are paying attention at this point. People that need to be convinced and enthused, people who want to know what future Trump wants to bring the American people, and how he'll do it.

Regarding the not using up his best ammo theory, that pre supposes that the entire campaign is or should be about attacking Hillary or 'firing shots'. It should not. That won't get him elected. He needs to start talking about all the great experience he brings and how that will be applied, as Lizard laid out.

We here are already sold, but many out there are not. He has the ability, he has shown it. The majority of energies should be put towards telling people how he's going to make their lives better, and our country great again, taking aim at Hillary at opportune times while not focusing the message on her alone.

The campaign needs a little more focus on why people should vote for Trump, not just about why people shouldn't vote for Hillary. And definitely not about the extraneous stuff.

There isn't a limited supply of him simply being his persuasive and measured best which can be "used up" too early.

The best time to start selling his message for the future heavily is now, the pivot cannot come too soon.

The question the campaign should be asking with each decision is: "Does this bring more/solidify votes?" If not, discard.

You have no idea on how to sell.

Trump could be a bit more focus (the violence against Trump supporters seems like a miss opportunity to me; stuff that really hits home like the woman getting egg in the face with Mexican flags waving in the air) and avoid some unforced errors but I think only a few things in the end really matter between now and the general election:

1. Potential Hillary e-mail fallout.

2. Hillary's VP pick - Will it push or pull Bernie supporters? A Warren VP pick, which is looking like a real possibility despite the valid mad shit Warren said about Hillary a decade ago, could swing a lot of Bernie supporters to Hillary. Bernie being VP is a possibility as well.

Ultimately, Hillary has a real problem with the BernieBros and how she handles it could make the difference in a few swing states; particularly white dominated states that Sanders won like Wisconsin and Colorado. A small BernieBro defection in those two states could swing them to Trump easily.

3. Trump's VP pick - People will be looking for someone with political experience and a steady hand. Huntsman, Sessions, Corker. Those types. No wildcard Palin like bullshit and he is fine on this front.

4. The First Debate - THIS is where hard lines are gonna be formed in the minds of the general public. If Trump can make Hillary look like a joke on national TV to her face, the way he chopped Jeb's balls off in front of the whole world, it's game over. Trump's weak point is referencing detailed political knowledge on the fly in response to a question and Hillary does have the potential to trip Trump up on some intellectual bullshit gotcha thing.

She showed in her recent foreign policy speech that she is gonna go after Trump's lack of on-the-fly trivia knowledge of world affairs pretty hard. Trump needs to make sure he has the basics cover so he doesn't look like he is clueless.

Hard to say the outcome but I think Hillary is gonna get a a few good hits in there (which the media will blow out of proportion like that retarded "Delete" tweet) but then Trump is gonna crush her with her history of corruption, covering for Bill, and her incompetent past performance. No one in public has EVER really called out Hillary on her bullshit to her face on camera in such blunt direct language. She is not even good at handling bullshit semi-soft balls from the corrupt press; hence the lack of news conferences and often media shut out she engages in. But in the first debate, she will have NO WHERE to hide. Her raw reaction and instincts, which is often guarded by the corrupt system, will be on unfiltered display in full view for the whole world to see. It's like women in combat military jobs who talk a big game about how hard they are but completely crumble and fall apart once the shit gets real. That's Hillary. The epitome of "fuck up and move up" gender affirmative action cronyism.

I think people will ultimately side with Trump because they don't expect someone to be all knowing about all things but they sure do expect a leader to be honest and competent; two things Hillary clearly is not today, never was, and never will be.

I think some deep breaths are in order here.

First, this is about the 5th or 6th "I just saw a Trump rally and I didn't think it was very good! Someone please get in touch with the Trump campaign for me and tell them that they're not doing a good job!" post in this thread alone. The last 4 or 5 times this was posted, Trump turned out to be fine. He'll be fine now.

When he needs to stop talking about Bobby Knight and go talk about something else, he'll go talk about something else. He's got the big Clinton speech lined up already on Monday.

Secondly, "Trump needs to talk about infrastructure, energy independence, and removing regulations from small businesses."
These were the standard talking points of every other republican candidate this campaign. Every conservative candidate for the past 35 years has talked about "removing regulations from small businesses." How well did these talking points work out for the 16 other guys in the republican field? Energy independence and jobs were Romney policies. Romney lost.

Now is not the time for Trump supporters to be making excuses for his campaign and telling everyone to "relax". That's exactly the problem -- everyone is too relaxed. Time for some tension again.

Trump loves sports analogies? Well, here is one he might not like so much but needs to hear anyway. Right now, he is like a prize fighter who has won a few fights and has grown fat and lazy.
