(06-03-2016 06:53 AM)Days of Broken Arrows Wrote:  To those who are interested in the way the media is handling all this, here is an addition to my Washington Post comment (above).

The New York Times covered the same violent San Jose rally. But their headline was "Violence reemerges outside a Donald Trump rally."

Notice anything different? Where the Post came out and said the protesters were violent, the Times simply says the violence "reemerged," so casual readers might think Trump's supporters wreaked havoc. Or maybe even Trump himself caused the trouble.

This is media sleight-of-hand. A lot of thought goes into these headlines. This type of thing isn't an accident.

Below is their lead. Notice how they shaped this story, starting with jarring emotional images. Take note of the word choices (which I highlighted). This is in direct contrast to the matter-of-fact Washington Post report:

By Nick Corasaniti and Jonah Engel Bromwich

SAN JOSE, Calif. — With escalating vitriol, Donald J. Trump unleashed an attack on Hillary Clinton on Thursday in response to her speech earlier in the day criticizing his foreign policy positions.

Speaking at a campaign rally here, he began by calling her speech “pathetic,” dismissing it as a stunt and saying, “It had nothing to do with foreign policy.”

Outside the event, protesters, some brandishing Mexican flags, clashed violently with Trump’s supporters.

That's quite a leap there, isn't it? By juxtaposing those images, they make it seem like Trump caused this mayhem -- when it's doubtful any protesters heard any of it. This isn't reporting. It's storytelling. Had I done this years ago in my old newsroom, the article would have been turned back to me for a rewrite along with a curt "Get your shit together" note from one of the editors.

The bias today in news reporting boggles my mind. It was always there, but it was at least implicit. This is totally in-your-face.

Here is a link to the story as it ran in the Boston Globe, so you don't have to give the Times the Web hit.

Yes, violence "emerged" at the Trump rally, as if it appeared randomly from a cloud of mist. The use of the passive voice is definitely intentional. It's a trick to conceal the identity of the aggressive parties who initiated violence. You see the same thing in pretty much every article on violence committed by members of the protected classes, most egregiously in coverage of black violence in cities like Detroit and Baltimore.

And then we see the protestors "clashing violently" with Trump supporters. The image here is of a pitched battle, as if there was some agreement between the two sides for a little fisticuffs. It provides the reader a false equivocation: both sides wanted a fight, so they fought. The reality of peaceful Trump supporters being violently assaulted by Mexican thugs (who are literally waving Mexican flags as a battle standard) is entirely swept under the rug.

The exact opposite technique is employed endlessly in those rare cases where white men are responsible for committing (not necessarily even initiating!) violence against a minority. The reader is reminded explicitly, over and over, that the white man attacked the minority, who is invariably portrayed as defenseless, meek, a good person, etc... (The media coverage of the Mike Brown shooting and subsequent black riots were one of the all-time great examples of this rank distortion).

Then we need to stop giving a shit about how it is going to be spun and just kick ass.

There's a reason he says he'll keep coming back to California and he thinks he can win it.

He probably knows it's a lost cause, but he wants to bring awareness of Mexican nationalism to the rest of America and the Mexicans attacking Trump supporters does exactly that. The drama created guarantees endless talk and controversy about Trump Trump Trump.

I keep saying Trump is going to swing his votes over from women who resist him... but what is the best way past LMR? Persistence, persistence, persistence. 24/7 media saturation does exactly that.

In 2012 Romney totally ghosted at this point, took a nice break at his lakeside cabin in MA for a while to recharge before the convention once he won. I do not see Trump considering this at all for reasons exactly as said by Samseau. Media saturation in the dog days of summer will only benefit him

Most of these Mexican protesters waving their flag were born here in the USA or only spent a couple years of their early childhood in Mexico. These people don't have the slightest clue about Mexico.

I was not on the mass deportation train before but that has changed. I can't say I would be against mass deportation anymore. Just watching some of these people squirm in Mexico would be worth it, they would not survive among the hard working Mexican people in Mexico.

Sitting at the airport bar. A short haired feminist sits down next to me (AWALT) and starts bitching at her boyfriend.

Protestors against Trump come on the television.

She bitches at them, angry at their violence. She says (projecting?) that if they continue this way they are going to make people actually like Trump.

The protests alone are going to make Trump president.

On Jimmy Kimmel Trump said he will make a big play for California and NewYork.

So far the play is working out to perfection. Once that old communist finally gives up and the race is crystal clear, the decision between a violent kaotic future vs a new orderly 'America First' one. The juxtaposition could not be more evident. during the months of august-september, Trump better schedule at least 10 rally's here in CA. He should have one smackdown in the middle of east LA.

Even when you look at Buzzfeed and Huffington post which the comments are usually full of leftist terrorists, you are seeing mostly disgust at these "protesters." Keep in mind that it doesn't get more marxist than those outlets, they probably have the communist manifesto read out at orientation for new employees.

@fastEddie
Thats not true at all, Trump protestors are always more fit, on average way stronger and don't mind to throw down. The problem is that they have way more to lose. A typical right wing supporter makes more money, owns a property so probably has a mortage to pay and just has way more responsibility he has to think about. Getting a criminal record won't help him. A typical leftist moron doesn't have shit, no property, probably already has a criminal record and either doesn't have a job, or has a shitty dead end job or is just a plain paid professional protester.

You don't think there is enough rich right wing repubs than can do what George Soros is doing? Its just easier for Soros cause the ideology attracts the lowest scum that will do things for very little money. Promising free shit, shortcuts and lawlessness attracts the kind you saw yesterday.

(THE UNITED WEST) The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has called on Muslims to openly defy U.S. Customs Agents when questioned on travel from Islamic controlled countries by saying, “None of your Damn Business.”

Hassan Shibly (Executive Director CAIR, Florida) also encourages Muslims to agitate Customs Agents by saying Islamic prayers “very loudly” when questioned. Shibly also stated that he was, “Asked to do this by our friends from within the government.” Hassan Shibly was awarded by Nihad Awad (CAIR co-founder and National Executive Director) as “CAIR Chapter of the Year” in 2013.

CAIR’s open defiance of law enforcement has been well documented. In 2011 CAIR, California posted flyers on their website featuring a sinister looking FBI agent with the headlines, “Build a Wall of Resistance,” and “Don’t Talk to the FBI.”

The FBI has reportedly cut ties to CAIR after the Holy Land Foundation trial during which CAIR was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator along with its co-founder Omar Achmad as supporters of the terrorist group HAMAS.

In November 2014 the United Arab Emirates specifically listed CAIR as a “terrorist organization,” saying the group is linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, promotes extremism and incites and finances terrorism, adding that it wears “a cloak of democracy and liberalism.”

In July 2014, Breitbart released a story showing video of Shibly’s CAIR, FL group sponsoring an pro HAMAS rally in Miami where members were chanting, “We are HAMAS. We are Jihad.”

At least now it's open war. We can dispel once and for all with this fiction that Islam was ever a part of America.

Those violent "Mexican" protesters are a shame not only to the USA, but also to Mexico.

I mean, considering their inexcusable behavior, everybody who's never been to Mexico, would understandably (but undeservedly) dislike the Mexican flag and people. Because these protesters, they give an atrocious image of Mexico and Mexicans!

So, it really reminds me of the way Algerian migrants, using the same brutal street attacks and (Algerian) flag-waving, have put into most (native) French people' hearts, an understandable hatred of Algeria... My point being, those violent flag-waving protesters harm not only their host country (respectively USA, France), but also the image and reputation of their "original" country (Mexico, Algeria): shame on them, double shame on them: insulting their generous host country, and in the process tarnishing the image of their original country...

That is precisely the risk we are going to have to be willing to take. The fear of a "criminal record" is what holds us back. The left has weaponized criminal data-banks against the right. They don't give a shit about criminal records because they don't work for a living, they vote for a living. Now the lefties are going to criminalize "hate speech" to use the weaponized criminal data-banks to silence the right. Troolander is well underway with this particular project in Canada.

This is the part where I’m supposed to cuck out and put in that transsexuals are clearly mentally ill and deserve our compassion. That they’re being exploited as exotic human pets and fashion accessories by everyone from teenage weirdos on Tumblr (forgivable) to powerful media gatekeepers, greedy surgeons, and political power-grabbers (not).

Yeah, fuck that. I don’t care.

In order to ostensibly protect “transgender and other gender-diverse” individuals, the new Canadian law criminalizes “hate propaganda and hate crimes.” So how’s this?

I hate trannies. I think other people should hate trannies, too.

Does that work?

Hate is just a human emotion. If gays are allowed to tear apart and (ineptly) rebuild 5,000 years of civilization in the name of “love,” why shouldn’t I be allowed to stomp on their sand castles in the name of “hate”?

At this juncture, I’ll get lectured by conservatives that “we” don’t believe in breaking the law. That if we object to an unjust piece of legislation, we’re supposed to work diligently to overturn it blah blah soooo sleepy zzzzzzzz…

The left has gotten every item on their agenda over the past 60 years through the “Rosa Parks” model. As my fellow Canadian blogger Kate McMillian likes to say, “‘Not showing up to riot’ is a failed conservative policy.”

I dare the police to arrest me first the day this law is passed. If they don’t do so spontaneously, then I challenge some chippy little tranny to press charges.

Like Kathy Shaidle in her fine example above, we need to take this weapon away, disarm the left by DARING them to come and arrest us.

Come and get me.

Thing is, they don't need to arrest you (for the time being, but I agree, it might come to that, later on. Pol Pot is and has always be the wet dream of leftists, their end-game, keep that in mind)

No, for the time being, leftists just need to fire you from all and any government job, or sully your professional reputation with "bigot" accusations, to "kill" you (or kill your bank account at least).

In any case and hopefully, Trump will turn the tide on them! By turning the tide, I mean and hope for a tidal wave of firings of useless office-potato government-working leftists...

Just checked the Mexican press to see if they are covering the anti-Trump violence in San Jose. Not a word. They're busy reporting on the Mexican teachers union, who at this moment is threatening to shut down the Mexico City airport unless their demands are met. Interestingly, the far-left party, Morena (dark skinned), has been promoting the idea that anti-Trump rhetoric is a distraction from Mexico's internal problems.

Violence the mainstream media support, they call speech.

Speech mainstream media does not support, they call violence.

I was watching Hannity last night, and they had reporters on the ground interviewing "protesters" and they had to cut away as wildlings rampaged through the streets and screamed in the cameras and assaulted people. One of the most disturbing things i've seen in a while...

Watch this from about 35 mns-40 mins in and see the mob descend on the cameramen.

What happened in San Jose, I believe, will cause the the creation of pro-Trump vigilante groups that offer protection of rally goers, likely within two months, similar in style to the groups that have patrolled the US southern border in the past.

The vigilante groups will be attacked by the media, monitored by the police, and infiltrated by the FBI, and then used as a reason that "Trump supports violence." In Oregon, we had Ammon Bundy and his group back down relatively peacefully. If such a group doesn't back down, which I expect, there could be extreme violence, with Mexicans and the authorities on one side and vigilantes and Trump voters on the other. It could get seriously out of hand to where we see large sieges.
