I always planned on moving to Germany and living there long term but if this trend continues, I may need an alternative country. Due to the love I get from the local women, Denmark and Finland are enticing but I'm not sure if I want to work in those countries.
(04-12-2016 03:40 PM)Fury Wrote: I'm with you on that. Related to what Dark Knight mentioned earlier, our list of countries that are normally great places for a black are slowly dwindling. To hear even a great place like Sweden is regressing, is downright depressing. But we have to look at this relatively, places like the US or Scandinavia may not be paradise for us black men but they are much better than most places in the world. I have traveled extensively with the exception of Africa (I did visit South Africa) and South America, and I must say there are very few places on this planet where black men are not discriminated against or marginalized. However, I do feel my quality of life has improved moving from North Carolina to the Netherlands. It's not perfect here and this country has its' issues but overall it is a decent place for a black man.
I think the problem we are facing today is related to the migration crisis. To put it in context, I lived in Germany in the early 2000s when I was in high school; I remember it was great being a black man there. I almost felt like a B-list celebrity when I went into the town, mainly because the majority of black men there were associated with America. Fast forward to when I was in Germany this past summer and I felt the difference. People seemed more apprehensive towards me, enough to actually make me stop someone and ask why. Their answer, "well most people think probably think you are African and the Africans cause trouble". Also to add on to that, Europe is experiencing a shift to the right/nationalism as the influx of Muslim immigrants has caused them to question and renegotiate European identity.
It has become troubling, I will admit. This past week I went on a date with a half German/half Turkish girl that is also studying in the Netherlands. In the middle of the date she says, "black people are trouble". I was shocked she would say some shit like that while on a date with a black man, but it does reflect the attitude of some Europeans today. If they know one black man of ill character, they assume all black men are bad.
Of course it is not all doom and gloom, there are still places out there where it is actually not so bad being a brotha. We have talked about them ad nauseum, i.e. Denmark, Finland, France, Germany (at least for the moment), etc.

It's a shame that black men have to put on a front just to be accepted by some people. White guys can pull off either the Eminem or John Mayer type and it'll work, while we always have to be 50 cent. I'd rather be single than risk jail time or possible job loss trying to act hard for some broad that's not worth it in the long run anyway.

A couple of other guys in this thread have already said this so I won't belabor the point, but it is essential to note that for some guys, the people with the most cultural similarity/fit are not always going to be people that look like them.
The key, as others have said, is to find someone who meshes well with you.
As a black male, I find it particularly important to consider two things:
1. People who look like you may not always be the best fit, especially if you are a non-stereotypical black male living in a place like the USA. As I've noted in earlier posts, deviating too far from the expectation black women have of masculinity can leave you in a difficult position when it comes to maintaining relationships with them. If you're in this situation, you need to avoid subscribing to the "black queen"/"keep it black" logic that will often be forced on you. Find your best fit, whatever she looks like.
2. White women are not a panacea and shouldn't be treated as such. Even as a non-stereotypical black male who struggles connecting with black females in a place like the USA, you may find that many white girls come from backgrounds that are no more conducive to a healthy relationship with someone like you. DimeBait did a good job of outlining a situation in which that is the case (though his girl was hispanic) and illustrating the challenges that come with it.
I see a lot of non-stereotypical black men who feel like outsiders in black America respond by putting white women on a pedestal. The white girl is the answer to all of their romantic problems, a lifeline in a turbulent ocean they've navigated so far that has been filled with obstacles stemming from their non-stereotypical ways and disconnect with black culture. They give white girls slack when they don't necessarily deserve it and big them up when it is unnecessary. They effectively turn into simps round white girls, and we all know where that path takes you.
Personally, I know I've got an issue. I'm not nearly black enough for black American women and I have a very tough time connecting with them on a deeper level. We simply tend to live on different wavelengths, largely due to the way I was brought up. I'm just different - too far away from the norm of black masculinity to be consistently attractive to them at this point in my life.

TL;DR: Find someone on a wavelength that is similar to yours that will allow you to connect. Don't assume that someone looks just like you, but don't go to the other extreme and assume that person must have some other phenotype (ex: pedestalizing white women as the all-encompassing, definitive "answer" to all problems of the non-stereotypical black male who struggles with black women). Keep an open mind.

I would never undermind the racism that has gone on in America, but don't for one second think living in the UK is some sort of paradise for the black man.
The thing about the UK it is a small island probably the size of Rhode Island, but with a population of 60 million plus. Despite the lack of guns, the violence tends to be more of a physical nature (e.g - fist fights, stabbing).
Also this notion of France ending slavery in the 1300s is foreign to me, the French have been slaughtering Africans for centuries across the diaspora.

I spent 2.5 months out in Berlin, with about 2 weeks in Koln. I didn't experience one bit of racism and that's not to say it doesn't occur, but here are my theories on the matter:
The reason I say this is on my first escapades through Europe, I made a stop over in Oslo and was walking back from a nightclub, when this hipster blond haired Norwegian girl built like a stripper straight out of a 2chainz video walked passed me. I instantly tried to holler and she slows down almost stops, has second thoughts and kept walking. My boy and I are ready to call her racist until we turn back and see these African/Somalian refugees walk up on the girl super close and try to grab her, she scurrys off and they all laugh like shit was sport. From that moment i realized in it's entirety the concept of better safe than sorry.
A lot of dudes post shit about racist this and racist that, but some of us, as civilized black guys, fail to realize like rudeboy said, we are clumped together. That's not them being racist, that is human nature. One of my first times walking home alone in middle school, I got jumped by some dudes in red shirts (take a hint what they were about). From that moment on, every time I saw a group of dudes wearing red, i subconsciously and consciously thought my ass whipping is coming.
I say this to say most of these europeans you think are saying fucked up shit like "blacks are bad" have actually encountered blacks that aren't shit. I don't give a fuck about being P.C or anything. Point blank period,a lot of these young african refugees aren't shit and do cause trouble. When I was in Berlin, i was really vibing with this Serbian chick, she meet me near Görlitzer Park. She tensed up walking past them and i asked her what was up. She said on multiple occasions those same dudes have groped her and her friends and followed them for some time. These same dudes walked up on me and my girlfriend when I was trying to buy "tea" and it got to the point I gave my girl my phone and told these dudes to back up and pushed them back with my hand.
I met with my girl and her friends for karaoke in Berlin one night and she was telling me the shit they were asking her before hand like how can she date a black guy, is her family upset with her, how they don't like black guys etc etc. I met with them girls and by the end of the night my girl was getting super jealous because these girls were all over me and some of them even asked do i have brothers or friends I can introduce them to.
