CNN!

Yes bad body language but I reckon he handled that pretty fucking well considering the overwhelming circumstances. I think a lot of people would have fallen apart under that sort of pressure.

To be honest I feel a bit sorry for the guy right now. He seems like a likeable guy to me minus the RSD.

Ouch....

Julien walked right into a trap in this interview.

I wish I could say he handled with 茅clat.

But he was clearly scared out of his wits.

I can't say I blame him for being nervous though.

He was stupid enough to agree to an 'interview' in which he's humiliated by the interviewer, and made to grovel for the collective vicarious gratification of all the people he 'offended'.

If there's one lesson I can take away from all of the witch hunts that RVFers have seen first hand - and even been a part of - it's that you should never apologize or explain away your behavior or beliefs.

Let me ask you guys this: how would YOU have handled this situation if you were in Julien's shoes?

Yep, bang on

This whole mess is going to make a great PR case study one day.

I don't think that the interview was that bad - going out like that he basically had to apologize, since he did nothing else as a defense.

What they could have done:

- issue official statements either doing one of the things:

Depending on whether they had footage which showed the girls smiling and having fun and even further on talking with Julien - isse all of it and show explicitly that in that specific context the girls had fun. Publishing the stuff could have helped his case saying it was just a game played and the comments were not to be taken seriously - again backed up by footage from the seminar.

If the material was indefensible, then RSD should have issued a statement, that they end cooperation with Julien.

In addition to that RSD should have gone full guns blazing either defending the position (with added infos) or distancing themselves from Julien. Also they should have attacked some of the SJWs like this racist Asian bitch trying to discredit some of the message itself. Especially as the shit hit the fan and they were making headlines they could have likely gotten big-time interviews either by Tyler or Julien.

Now what they did was they waited and it is even possible that Julien "quits" from RSD anyway based on the comments he made. In the end the shit impacted both RSD as well as Julien's reputation. And frankly even if Tyler wanted to remain loyal to Julien, he could have offered Julien to fund a RSD daughter company which would still be owned by RSD over 3 corners, but would appear as if Julien was doing his own thing - even standing by his shit and going more Bad Boy/Dark Triad of Game.

We will see how this soap-opera ends. They might survive since they have such a big fan-base and plenty of their customers need long-term help, but how big they will be in a few years remains to be seen.

Like you said, ouch. What a difficult interview.

But why shouldn't he apologize for his behavior if he believes it was stupid?

That interview didn't look good though. Typically a company will have its figurehead do media interviews when placed in a crippling situation, though unsurprisingly the coward Owen Cook defered it to his lacky.
Roosh 路 2014-11-17 11:31:00 路 #608
Bad decision to go on the "enemy's" platform when you already have a huge platform to put out your message.

But it's better than their strategy of silence.
ilovelatinas 路 2014-11-17 11:31:00 路 #609
Julien fed himself to the lions. The interview made him look very bad, but honestly I don't how it could have gone differently. It was pretty clear the guy interviewing him thought he was a total scum bad.

Julien should just throw in the towel, this whole thing has dragged out too long. RSD had a chance to address this early last week, but instead sat on the sidelines in a complete state of denial.

And love how he called most RSD students "socially awkward" in an effort to justify his actions.

At this point Tyler and Julien will will be blackballed from most nightclubs in large cities. And with Brad and Alex gone, they are really getting down to a small crew. I guess Jeffy needs to get some $$ from his new online product so he will try to stick it out for the interim. I don't think Todd, Ozzie, or any of the new guys have much of a following.
therajraj 路 2014-11-17 11:34:00 路 #610
The interview wasn't bad at all. It made him appear normal, compared to the quasi-psychopathic behavior he displays in his videos. What was he supposed to do? Push a strong frame? If he did that it would only have made things worse.

The look in his eyes the whole time is dead tell as to how nervous he was.
amity 路 2014-11-17 11:36:00 路 #611
I think he did ok in the circumstances.
Interviewer was an ignorant white knight dick, interrupting him constantly.
Like Roosh said, although this interview was not ideal, it's certainly better to get their face out there again and not cower in the corner and allow the SJWs to continue to misinform the masses with their baseless 'rapist' accusations.
RexImperator 路 2014-11-17 11:42:00 路 #612
Yeah, it was CNN so I don't blame him for being incredibly nervous. His balls were being crushed hence his hand positioning.

Still, I can't help but think it's way too late to backpedal like this. Best to own up and reframe instead. Admit to some mistakes of bad taste or cultural insensitivity. He could have explained that he coaches a lot of shy guys and exaggerates some things in order to push them out of their comfort zone.

Julien's toast and i'm sad to see him get get destroyed on CNN and having to explain his - very aggressive and borderline psychopathic approach to - game and women to the masses. I think RSD handled all of this like absolute shit, and the response of throwing Julien under the bus having him frame everything as "fun" and as a mistake for which he is 'deeply sorry' is wrong, just like their month-long silence was wrong. These are the kind of bad decisions that put companies under the ground, and I think that's exactly what's going to happen to RSD.

This was inevitable almost. When you disseminate borderline-sexual-assault-game to the masses and you honestly try to make it go viral - and not have a strategy prepared for when shit hits the fan - what the fuck do you expect to happen. Just have 1000 more idiots sign up for your hot seats and no repercussions? Tyler proclaims himself as being some sort of a self-improvement genius and yet he gets totally obliterated by the backlash of his own plan.

It's cringe-worthy for me to watch all of this unfold.

That's a good question.

I'd probably handle it from the angle of:

"Look.

If a girl has a problem with the way I approach her, she's free to rebuff me and walk away.

If she feels that I've harassed her, she's absolutely free to get the authorities involved.

You may not agree with my methods and philosophies. That's your right.

You may not understand that I'm teaching painfully shy guys how to unfetter themselves from an unhealthy sense of social propriety that hinders them from getting real results in their love lives.

And that's fine too.

However, I haven't done anything illegal.

And if I had, then it would be a matter between myself and the authorities.

Furthermore, I'm PROUD of my work and the many men whose lives I've changed irrevocably for the better.

You see me doing something outrageous on a Youtube clip and zero in on it to the exclusion of all the good our company has brought.

You take it out of context to portray us as scumbags but ignore the tears of joy we've seen grown men cry; men whom we've led out of 30 years of lonely virginity.

And that, too, is your right.

However, we'll continue to keep doing what we know in our hearts to be noble work.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Next question."

Not saying that I stand behind Julien's shenanigans.

Just saying that in his place I wouldn't budge.

People don't care if you're right or wrong.

They just care if you're weak or strong.

If the mob wants to lynch you, they'll probably find a way.

May as well face it with dignity and fight back.

As Roosh and Quintus discussed on their latest call, the days of keeping your mouth shut and letting things blow over are long gone.

You have to tactfully defend yourself and make the other person sorry as hell that he ever fucked with you.

Talks of trying to ban Julien from entering the UK. If you are an Islamist hate-preacher, you may enter. If you are a convicted rapist from the other side of the world, you may enter. If you teach bad Game, you are a good PR piece to suck up to the current feminist meme.

That's really the most haunting thing about all of this I think.

Restrictions on travel are one of the hallmarks of any tyranny. The fact that countries are now banning the free travel of people, not because they are considered threats to the public security of the nation, but because their ideas are bad - because they did something or published something that certain entrenched ideologues don't like, shows how far down the rabbit hole we've gone.

His ideas were bad, but (unless that store clerk was a paid actress) he was getting handsy enough to actually make a public security ban reasonable.

If a soccer hooligan published a tape of himself going up to guys wearing the other teams colors and pulling their heads towards his crotch, he would be denied a Visa to follow his club to other countries. He wouldn't be banned for spreading the idea that he loves Manchester United, he would be banned for (actual, reasonable) security issues. That's an actual legitimate part of the Immigration guys job.

I'm disappointed in Julien's interview.

When the Jeffy rape van scandal came about Julien kept talking about "I WISH that would happen to me! That notoriety would be the best thing that could possibly happen to me and I would live it up."

In this interview he's apologetic and is not and "owning it up like a big shot" as he insinuated he would do during the Jeffy debacle.

I could see him being apologetic like that if he were going up in front of a judge because it went to court, but not in public where he has told everyone that he would embrace the day that something like this happened to him because it would finally give him a platform to express his views to the world and show the world how it runs on social conditioning.

You want to talk about frame control though? This CNN anchor/interviewer has frame control on lock-down.

Yeah the CNN guy definitely had Julien's balls in a vice grip. I would love to have heard what they talked about before and after the interview off camera. I would not be surprised if they baited him by suggesting he would get a chance to clear his name.

Instead he got a big can of whip ass and a national public shaming..

He didn't face someone to put him in the pressure cooker.

He did ok. It is easy to play Monday morning quarterback, but he should have gotten more aggressive with the interviewer, especially since the interview was more of an interrogation. Some examples:
When being interrupted "I didn't realize I was walking into Abu Ghraib, I thought you were going to let me talk instead of interrupting me all the time"
When the guy showed the picture of the domestic abuse pie chart, he should have made fun of him for not being able to understand a joke. "Surely YOU can tell when something is a joke. I'm sorry I didn't realize everyone would freak out about a joke, comics say things worse than that all the time and they never get a lynch mob."
"Have you ever consenually "choked" your wife? What about bitten her neck? So what's wrong with me telling guys that a lot of women like that as long as it's done in the appropriate context, which, of couse, requires consent. We never teach actually choking, only gently pressing against the neck and we teach to always make sure that women have an opportunity to leave, to walk away from the situtation and make sure the women are comfortable. You are just trying to use your media platform to sexually oppress men and women and condemn men and women for being sexual. I don't see why you have such a problem with consensual sex, is your wife not treating you right at home? Maybe you need to come to my seminars. I can help you. I'll give you a discount."

Remember your reputation is the most important resource you possess. Never let anyone take it from you without a fight and don't waste it on something stupid. (These are the two biggest mistakes Julien made).

I don't know what the background of their lawyer is, but that is the worst "professional" legal response I've ever read - utterly amateur and not to be taken seriously. They need professional legal services at this point, not the rantings of some frat boy idiot they've kept on retainer and - by the sounds of it - has never practiced law since graduating from his fourth-tier toilet of a law school.

While perhaps entertaining to read, this is not the way a lawyer responds if they truly desire to be respected in a legal matter where the client stands to be harmed by ineffective (and juvenile) assistance of counsel.
