Does anyone else find it a little bizarre that the mainstream media (MSNBC) is getting involved over #GamerGate? Isn't this a little bit beneath them? Especially considering all of the other problems going on in the world plus it's election time.

You would think that there is some coordination of media efforts of the entire political left-wing media. It's like they're all working together as a whole.

Since the Gawker & Buzzfeed types couldn't handle the situation, it looks like the progressive left has to break out the big guns.

Nothing is 'beneath' any mainstream media outlets today. 99%+ of tv, online, and newspaper media will publish anything that will increase viewership and clicks with little respect for real 'journalism' as it existed not so long ago...

Only if you don't realise what's at stake.

Gamergate is dangerous because it's a grassroots movement with no financial backing. What does it attack? The authority of journalism.

Gamergate has the potential to become massive. At the moment it's just disgruntled gamers telling their niche media outlets that they are not going to be insulted and still hand over money. If I were an exec of a big news company though, what I'd be seeing is this:

The consumer doesn't need opinion based journalism anymore.

If you can convince massive corporations it's in their interest to not have ads on clickbait articles on gawker, then you can convince them it's not in their interest to have ads on clickbait articles on bigger sites too.

Realistically, reddit and the like are the new frontier for opinions based journalism: You get actual opinions from actual people like you if you go to a subreddit, as opposed to a paid article by a crony who has never touched a product.

People don't need opinion pieces because you can see something for yourself via youtube and make up your own mind. That's why Big Media is scared. Who the hell is going to buy their rhetoric when they can get more honest reporting from some guy on youtube?

Also, big media is funded by big money. Gamergate can't be bribed, because most people involved in it have no financial incentive whatsoever. Guys like Mike, Roosh, InternetAristocrat are only spending money on a camera and time on reading articles. Even if they're massively censored, they've lost nothing monetarily. compare this with gawker losing millions in ad revenue.

Sure, you can doxx a guy like Roosh, but the problem that hate-mobs have is that it's only effective to a certain extent. Once Roosh's face is out there, what more can you do? Something illegal? It's interesting that these things are going to start coming to court. People will tolerate sensational journalism, but they have a whole different opinion when it breaks the law.

In the UK, we've had massive coverage of ethical journalism recently: News Corp was caught hacking dead people's phones, amongst other things. Whilst everyone loves Page 3 of the Sun, when it comes to court cases, nobody minds seeing journalists heads roll.

The doxxing really disturbs me. Depending on how public your persona is, it can be really difficult to doxx someone. A person has to spend a lot of time scouring the internet for pieces of information to gather in order to do it. It is awfully stalkerish.

I'd suggest the very likely possibility that Day got doxxed because she was a moderate.

SJW's are black and white thinkers - you are either with them or against them, and also believe the ends justify the means, (and the evidence of that is historical document, shown to happen again and again whenever the irrational / emotional / symbolic triad starts mutating into fascist thinking).

The question I'd ask is this: which side politically-benefits from Day's doxxing at this point in time? Day being doxxed strengthens their anti-Gamergate narrative, and brings a moderate thinker with a sizeable audience like Day to their side.

It frustrates me that the Gamergaters on KiA assume it was just 'a rando troll', which is why I said earlier I was frustrated at their naivety: they assume SJW's are simply misguided rational actors.
