That is good news, it will probably out of most theaters in 2 weeks, and completely off the screens in a month

But, notice that they gave the review to their more liberal, female reviewer who of course, would be more likely to give the movie the benefit of the doubt. Notice she disparages the "haters" in the review.

If you look at RottenTomatoes, the movie ratings are 75%, but fall to 57% from the "top critics" who are the critics less likely to be willing to damage their reputations and credibility by shilling for political correctness. The audience score is 45%. So, as we all knew would happen, the media is trying to dishonestly promote this movie.

This is what I love about RottenTomatoes.

It gives you a great insight into the divide between the public at large and the intellectual douchebags who look down their nose at them.

Take the vast majority of action films. The scores will be considerably higher among the public than the professional critics, because "that kind of thing is for Neanderthals."

Conversely films about a woman's struggle to come to terms with the struggles of womanhood rank highly among the intellectual douchebags and poorly among the rank and file who would rather shoot themselves in the head than sit through that crap.

RE: New Ghostbusters 3, starring 'hilarious' cumdumpsters
They are set to get a 45 million opening which is fine if it was a standard comedy, unfortunately they blew 150 million on this so this is a not a good turnout. The movie needs 400 million world wide to break even. I am not even sure they will make their money back years after the movie comes out on online-rentals/blue-ray. There will not be a sequel. They might reboot the series however, i am not sure if their rights expire and when they expire.

Spy did 235mill Worldwide with a 65 million$ budget. A much better and profitable film. The studio more than doubled the budget of this film and banked that it would probably make at least half a bill. Stupid.

One thing that i wanna mention, its widely perceived that Disney is buying critics not only for positive Disney reviews but also negative reviews for competing studio films. This might have not happened in this film, but just something to keep in mind for the future.

They are rebooting oceans 11 with a female cast, i wonder what the budget is. I also wonder what kind of an impact the results of this film would have on any future female reboots.

Wonder if studios get a tax write-off on a loss of investment on a movie.

150 million + marketing costs. lets say 230 million total expenditure. so before tax they need to make about 400 million gross to break even.

Boxofficemojo http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?pag...rs2016.htm is cucking for the movie assessing the reviews and how the ones on IMDB must be all wrong - the Rottentomatoes is where the real pros are at.

They made 17 mio. $ from Thursday/Friday. Due to the massive immense marketing budget and exposure it's likely that they might get to 45$ mio. $. But the real trick will be be how it performs in the afterwards and overseas. There is no chance in hell that they will make 500 mio. $

Mad MAX Fury road made 350 mio. $ gross on a 150 mio. $ budget and likely 100+ mio. $ in marketing. So I would estimate that they barely broke even. They too expected Mad Max Furiosa to be the start of a glorious feminist trilogy. And that movie was even liked by some Red Pill guys around here.

With the Fembusters you have a much larger audience appeal, but they revved up the SJW-narrative.

Ah - Matt Forney has written a good review about the Fembusters:

https://www.righton.net/2016/07/16/ghost...l-marxism/

Quote:Make no mistake: everything about Feminist Ghostbusters is intended to trash the film it was based on and spit in the faces of everyone who ever liked it. It’s full of Leftist dogwhistles and blatant assaults on Whiteness and masculinity, all the better to rope in the pop culture-addled SJWs who serve as corporate America’s most faithful drones. Given that young Leftists need Hollywood to constantly affirm their beliefs—see all the bombastic headlines about how Amy Poehler “crushed” men’s rights activists or how John Oliver “destroyed” Donald Trump—I expect we’ll soon see a wave of listicles about how Ghostbusters “demolishes” anti-feminists.

Unfortunately, it won’t be enough to save the movie from box office ignominy. Ghostbusters fans have been revolting against the reboot in epic fashion: the film’s trailer is the most downvoted movie preview in YouTube history, and its toys are so unpopular that stores are already putting them on the clearance rack. Subverting a nation with cultural Marxism is like boiling a frog, and Feminist Ghostbusters has cranked the heat up so high that the polliwogs are jumping out of the pot.

In response, the Left has been pulling out all the stops, from director Paul Feig accusing his film’s detractors of misogyny to others claiming that the original Ghostbusters is “mediocre.” This is a classic gaslighting tactic by profaners from Pussy Riot to Chuck Klosterman: attack a beloved symbol, get people riled up, then ridicule them for getting upset. “God, it’s just a movie. Stop taking it so seriously.”

Well, you can’t punch someone in the face and claim it’s a kiss, and you can’t spend millions of dollars creating a Marxist funhouse movie reboot and claim it’s no big deal. The original Ghostbusters is to cinema what Talking Heads is to music: something that everyone—young and old, Black and White, hipster and normie—can enjoy. It may just be a comedy, but it’s a well-rounded and funny one that sprang from an original idea (the film’s premise was based in part off of Dan Aykroyd’s paranormal research).

Feminist Ghostbusters has none of this. There’s zero freshness in the plot, zero warmth in the characters, and zero mirth in the dialogue. At best, it’s a rancid cash-in on an iconic film franchise; at worst, it’s an open assault on White men. Don’t waste your time with it.

I expect the revenues of the Ghosbusters to drop by some 70%, which is desaster territory. China won't save them this time, because they banned it and Europe does not care as much about the Ghostbusters as the US market. Mad Max Fury Road had way more masculine appeal than this crap (even if it was feminist propaganda too it had some good moments).

This is pure putrid man-bashing and Matt is right.

RE: New Ghostbusters 3, starring 'hilarious' cumdumpsters
Also, it looks like it's opening weekend will be beat out by a film that has already been in theaters for a week -- an animated flick about animals.

Weekend Preview: Can 'Ghostbusters' Scare Up a $50M Opening?

Quote:SATURDAY AM UPDATE: Friday estimates have come in and Ghostbusters is right on track to match Mojo's expectations with an estimated $17.2 million Friday, pushing toward a weekend right around $46 million. While these aren't exactly blockbuster numbers given the film's $144 million production budget, they aren't exactly dire numbers either as director Paul Feig's films tend to deliver solid multipliers. In fact, the film's "B+" CinemaScore matches the CinemaScore for both Spy and Bridesmaids and is just below The Heat's "A-" and all three enjoyed solid legs. Ghostbusters is looking to deliver Feig's largest opening of all-time and the same goes for star Melissa McCarthy.

Ghostbusters will slide into second place for the weekend, giving way to last weekend's number one opener, The Secret Life of Pets, which brought in an estimated $15 million on Friday and is looking at a $50+ million sophomore session.

As much as I dislike the underlying message behind Fury Road it was still a very well directed movie. The practical effects in it are groundbreaking and the movie had crossover appeal for the mainstream. I know lots of people abroad who are politically tone deaf but love that movie. It will likely have another sequel if George Miller doesn't die or opt out first.

Ghostbusters on the other hand is a subpar chick flick wrapped up in an action/comedy veneer. The comedy is geared entirely towards middle class white anglo women. If this film actually does succeed it's a pretty bad sign of how far the U.S. mainstream is gone. We might actually be underestimating the overall cultural degeneracy.

On the other hand an "estimated" $45 opening weekend folllowed by a 50%+ tanking next weekend means that Ghostbusters would bank maybe $65 million in two weeks and then after that bad word of mouth tends to escalate and the audience drops off dramatically. So there's a good possibility it might only make a bit over $100 million domestic b.o. which is in line with what feig's other movies make.

If international does not add make up the shortfall then Ghostbusters will be considered a huge flop.

I'd bet that a large chunk of the audience for this film is going to download it out of morbid curiosity rather than pay to see it. It seems absurd that they spent $150 million on it, the original was half that adjusted for inflation, had pretty decent special effects for the time, and the sequel's effects were even better five years later with a marginally bigger budget. With technological advances surely superior practical effects could be done cheaply in conjunction with CGI? None of these remakes have been big hits at the box office recently, but I don't think any had such a ridiculous budget.

This is how you know if a movie will be garbage or not. Just look at the difference in user and critic scores. Critics tend to boost movies that are pretentious nonsense or they are outright paid off by studios to promote the film.

I noticed that too, if you read the reviews of the peeps that gave it positive ratings they say the same thing, just worded differently.

I also went to the x-men apocalypse page and it was like 50% critic while the audience was like 75%

Since the whole controversy with the billboards happened with that movie, and the amount of critics that `hated` it but `loved` ghostbusters, I realized that even a lot of the film critics are getting paid off by the studios!

there IS NO journalism anymore. just paid advertisement writers.

Ill never take movie reviewers in the industry seriously again.

I was out near the front of my place tidying up a bit this afternoon when I hear a guy walking down the sidewalk say to his friend, "How interested are you in going to see Ghostbusters?"

Now, keep in mind these are total loser-looking guys, especially the guy who had been asked the question. The response:

"Not at all"

I did a mental double-take then sprinted out the door and laughed loudly, they turned as they had only just passed me and I said, "Yep, Ghostbusters looks like complete shit!"

They laughed and kept on walking.

So whats the box office verdict? I'm surprised it pulled $50 million. I was secretly hoping for 10-20 million.

20 mio. is almost unrealistic with that level of marketing and lasting brand appeal.

But they made 47 mio. and even worse - they grossed a whopping losing 19 mio. overseas!

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=...rs2016.htm

In contrast a more or less good movie like Deadpool made some 123 mio. overseas and 140 mio. local - all with a budget of 60 mio. $. - that's just from the first weekend that is!

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?pag...ol2016.htm

Especially the 19 mio. overseas is in catastrophy territory.

The entire movie has a massive problem for whom it was made at all. There is literally no market demographic except for feminists, SJWs and completely brainwashed duds.

The pics of empty theaters are from the UK where it aired earlier. It is indicative of the terrible 19 mio. $ turnover.

It will be fast downhill from there. Mad Max Fury road despite being a feminist piece was at least well-done and had some amazing scenes just as Star Wars Justice Wars had a minimum of visual appeal going on.

But hey - the big bucks of the gender studies broads will make it a sure success for sure.

Next week there should be 17 mio. $ in the US and 10 mio. $ overseas. They will likely make 100 mio. and be left with a 200 mio. $ price tag. Feminism is expensive and as an added note - the movie might impact all the careers of the involved - even Melissa McCarthy might not be unaffected. The other 'powerwomen' are toast.

But I have read that the studio doubles down and they want to produce a second movie - an all male cast with Chris Pratt. To be honest - the second part could work if they hire a different director. But the studio should be punished for creating propaganda crap like that.
