Here's an analogy: To be a professional fisherman you need to catch fish. Actually sounds pretty similar to game. At some point in your life a male figure in your life should be dropping knowledge about women and the basics for attracting them, teaching you how to put the worm on the hook. Ridiculous 'creeper' behaviour. It's a generational thing. I've been recently-theorising in my head that the huge difference in personality styles between Gen X and Millenial Girls is due to normalised mental dysfunction - specifically, the upbringing and cultural norms unique to girls under 30 has resulted in a generation of women whose attachment style in relationships could be mostly classed as Dismissive-Avoidant.

In layman terms: Dismissive-Avoidants were given overly-harsh parenting where their needs were ignored (all their free time planned out by helicopter parents chasing achievement from them), or indifferent parenting (absent father, narcissist mother who treats the child as an supporting character in her movie).

This means they pull away in relationships to minimise hurt and rejection. It's about giving the appearance of not caring, even though they do. They can't risk feeling genuine emotions for a guy, in case he rejects them. Unfortunately, pushing people away creates a self-fulfilling prophecy and reinforces their feelings of abandonment and worthlessness, since they're unaware that this is what they're doing. Result: depression.

The other styles seem to have fallen away, and Dismissive-Avoidants seem to dominate western culture. Some classic dismissive-avoidant distancing tactics, filtered through pickup:

- Bitch shield: if no-one gets through, I don't get hurt.

- Sarcasm: I'm pushing you away because you're beneath me. If you get close to me, you'll just reject me anyway.

- Vocal fry: you're sooooo boring. It's just soooo tedious having to talk to you. Leave me alone. Reject me.

- Rudeness and general cuntiness: I'm showing you my worst so you reject me, and therefore weren't worthy of my best.

- Inattentiveness in a conversation: you're less important to me than my phone. I want you to realise this. Reject me.

- Tinder and Hooking Up: the immediate physical need of sex without the risk of emotional rejection because, 'it was only a hookup anyway, they never lead to a relationship'.

- Independence: I don't need no man, (because he might reject me).

- Rebelliousness: Classic avoidant behaviour. I don't need anyone! I'll have my own life and own career so no-one can penetrate it. Also, I'll make myself deliberately unattractive to separate myself from 'normal', so everyone rejects me. This results in Standard Issue Girl Rebellion: stupid hair colours, stupid piercings, stupid tattoos and stupid ideologies.

- Idealisation: either of a past relationship or a fantasy construct of 'the one', both of which a real relationship can never measure up to, which excuses her from being invested in the current relationship.

- Disgust at grand displays of affection from a man: I don't deserve that. The more you show me you love me, the more I'll realise what I've lost when you reject me.

- Revulsion of any sign of neediness from a man: I'm unworthy and don't deserve that. These strong emotions make me uncomfortable because I have to risk caring for you back.

- Hatred of 'nice guys'. Same thing.

There's probably more if I think about it further. You can see how widespread and normalised this attachment style has become, which is why I consider Millenial Girls as innately broken when it comes to interpersonal relationships.

That being said, we're observant men when it comes to woman, so it's just a matter of understanding this, and game will need to adapt to compensate, because I'm sure you've been noticing the change over the last few years. (Unless you're lucky enough to meet a girl from a healthy background).

The most obvious adaptation: the person who cares the least in the relationship, wins. They're attracted to players, because we (initially) don't offer the threat of a serious relationship and the emotional risk that entails. (At least until the Oxytocin kicks in after regular sex sessions, when they'll start trying to reframe casual fun into expectations of a relationship).

I'll experiment with this further. Any older guys tried running married game with these type of girls? Would a fake wedding ring on my finger to signify that the possibility of emotional commitment is closed off from the get go actually help with these desperately-fucked up girls? Is that what we're basically doing when we hint that we're experienced players with women?

Like I said, we can understand and adapt our game to deal with this. Now, imagine someone who doesn't properly understand human emotions, behaviour and motivations, trying to comprehend. It's beyond their capacity. Mental dysfunction trying to make sense of mental dysfunction.

To be honest, I think that if this guy had just one solid friend, and one person who had actually tried to help build him up and help him have a good time, this wouldn't have happened. Even getting a dog might have helped to give him a feeling of companionship and stop him feeling so lonely. I remember when I was 9, I'd moved to a new continent (USA to England), had no friends, was getting bullied at school, parents constantly arguing and was generally in a bad place, but spending time with my dog, and playing with him really helped me cope.

American women are cheap and easy, but they are only cheap and easy for men who know game. Now, we have the upper class, middle class, and lower class. The cheap and easy girls mostly fuck guys in the upper class. The guys in the lower class are revolting, and it's easy to understand why they are.

Nobody has asked one big question: what kind of relationship did he have with his mother? Men who look for love and for girl friends are often just trying to fill the void which has been left by a mother who was emotionally unavailable or just wasn't there.

His father doesn't look like he's that close to the Hollywood establishment anyway. His father Peter Rodger doesn't even have a Wikipedia page, for example. He may have had some women get close to him because of this, only to find that he couldn't help them that much.

Rodger’s language is familiar to anyone who’s spent time exploring the Pick-Up Artist or Men’s Rights Activist communities. Rodger was a “Nice Guy,” a man who feels he is entitled to sex based on positive personality traits known only to him. (“I've wanted love, affection, adoration. You think I’m unworthy of it. That's a crime that can never be forgiven,” he said). He aspired to be an “Alpha," the most attractive, dominant man in his group, but felt he’s been wrongly dismissed as an inferior “Beta.” Pick-Up Artists, by the way, refer to women they would like to have sex with as their “targets.”

Rodger was also allegedly a member of PUAHate.com, a website for men who feel they’ve been tricked by the Pick-Up Artist pyramid scheme, which takes men’s money and promises to teach them how to have sex with women. (And not just any woman, but one who scores at least a 7 on the PUA decimal rating scale of female attractiveness.) PUA Hate is a community devoted to criticizing the Pick-Up Artist movement and “the scams, deception, and misleading marketing techniques used by dating gurus and the seduction community to deceive men and profit from them." It is not, however, interested in putting an end to the PUA community’s objectification of women; it simply complains that the tips and tricks don’t work.

When Katie J.M. Baker dipped into the site’s forums in 2012, she “failed to find one user who wondered whether women are unfairly targeted (as well as stereotyped, pigeonholed, and marketed) by the seduction community. Nope! On their predominately male, heterosexual planet it's the poor, gullible men who are the true victims.” It’s still “women in general,” she found, “who are the villains to these outcasts.” As one poster on PUA Hate puts it in his sign-off: “Women are a scam.”

I do not blame the Pick-Up Artist community (or its somehow even more deeply tortured counterpart, the Anti-Pick-Up-Artist community) for the deaths of seven people. The man who committed this horrific crime is responsible for this heinous act. But I was interested to see how these groups are reacting to the news. It is disturbing, if not surprising, that they are using these murders to reinforce their hatred of women and “Beta” men, and to cement their own status at the top of the pyramid.

When news of the shooting broke, PUA Hate members attempted to absolve themselves by critiquing Rodger’s sex appeal (“Short lower third and gay midface, with zero brow ridge,” one decided), ridiculing his mother’s looks, and scrambling to assert authority among themselves. (“Only high-T guys should be allowed to give advice here. Nich, can you add that as a rule?” one poster said). Another poster suggested that Rodger was such a Beta that no one would care if he’d murdered people. “Nobody gives a shit about some socially deprived, narrow-clavicle twink with a delusional sense of self. He's a poser,” he said. “Nothing will come of this, you sensationalist losers. Certainly not national coverage.”

The shooting, of course, made international news, and the forums that Rodger seems to have participated in quickly attempted to distance themselves from him by scrubbing his contributions. PUAHate.com shut down its forums “for maintenance” and rickrolled visitors. BodyBuilding.com, another site where Rodger allegedly posted, also deleted his contributions from its boards.

PUAs who were not immediately connected to Rodger were quick to capitalize on the news, suggesting that if Rodger had been a more devoted PUA protégé, they could have gotten him laid and prevented violence against women. A PUA site called Strategic Dating Coach—which sells DVDs on how to “turn a conversation with a woman sexual in no time flat”—commented on one of Rodgers’ YouTube videos, where he despairs about his dating life as he films a couple kissing in Santa Barbara. “THIS is why we do what we do,” Strategic Dating Coach weighed in. “TO PREVENT THIS SHIT!!! He should have gone to our website and got our personal dating coaching or purchased one of our products. IF ANYONE NEEDS HELP, CONTACT US! Don't ‘suffer injustice.’ ”

Why did seven people die in Santa Barbara last night? It would be wrong to pin the crime on Internet forums that indulge in self-hatred, then project it on to everyone else. But they’re certainly not the solution. Misogyny and violence against women is a social problem as well as an individual one. The fact that these men see “game” as the remedy to all personal and social ills is perhaps the greatest indictment of the way they view the world.

Regarding the bold areas:

1. Does anyone still call women "targets?" That was Mystery's thing, and I think he's finally moved on to some other phase of his life. Nice attempt to make all men involved in game look like horrible snipers of women.

2. The rating scale is ubiquitous. All men (in game or not) use it. Women use it to describe men as well, by the way. I'm not the biggest fan of it; I prefer to use Mark Manson's 1 or 0 (either I want her or I don't).

3. Yes, men with game hate women so much. So much that they make themselves better than 95% of all other men out there. Hell, I don't have astounding game, and I'm sometimes told "I've never met another guy like you." I hate women so much that I enjoy spending time with them.

Oh please. I hope that none of us hate women. I think some of us hate what some women do/have done to society and how contradictory some women are. But all in all, I think we like women. But since we don't show it in the "Beta" way ("Oh you're so pretty, let me buy you dinner so you'll sleep with me!"), society believes we don't like women.

This is all deeply depressing but there is no way for anyone to rationalize an irrational action. He (Rodger) may have felt that women were his enemy because he didn't get the desired feedback, but the only enemy he had was himself. Years of social isolation leads a person to live solely within their mind and come up with notions that do not fit the reality. As others have said, if he had a (in-person) social circle where he voiced these thoughts out loud, he would have quickly been steered away from such thoughts.

That manifesto says it all, which strikes me as eerily similar to Anders Breivik. They each created an enemy and labelled themselves as victims who had no hope other than to inflict pain on those who they believed caused them pain.

I don't particularly enjoy the connections to game and this guy, but his internet proclivities lead to no other possible answer. However, the truly unfortunate thing is that people lost their lives because a young man couldn't handle who he was versus the expectations he had for himself.

I did rowing at uc santa barbara, and when we would head to to practice on a saturday morning, we would sometimes see the girls walking home from the previous nights trist. IT was a thing of beauty to behold. She has her head down, wearing the same clothes as the previous night, her makeup is all messed up, she usually is cold and has her arms crossed.

Walk of shame for the win. Hell, if I could change my screen name again, I would make it "walk_of_shame"

Here's one thing I am still unsure of from this incident:

If every sexless beta in the world took it upon himself to learn game, approach girls, lift, dress well etc, would it not simply feed women's egos and entitlement? So instead of occasionally getting awkwardly hit on by skinny fat, poor-dressed chumps, the average 7 would then be approached several times a day by extremely high value men. We'll have a society of men working to improve themselves for women who will get lazier and lazier while at the same time demanding more and more.

It reminds me of one of Roosh's articles: "How to be Great Man"

"We’re already experiencing some degree of it today. You’ll have to put in obscene amounts of work and be a masculine caricature to get basic sex...As you can see, being a great man is quite relative, and chances are you’re reading this from a country where women demand the most out of any female in the world. Soon, their demands will outstrip what the human male is even capable of."

Makes me wonder whether or not game really does help society. It seems to me like we are still plugged into the system except we are now into the top 10% of men while the 90% is left struggling (and occasionally have their release like Rodger)

BTW, I know what everyone's probably thinking: "Strong fourth post"
And you're right, I am still a rookie in the game and should not be concerned about this, but thoughts like these really do shake up your momentum and motivation to get better.

By the way, Santa Barbara is also one of these "enlightened" cities. They just banned plastic bags in stores.
