Does anyone have any experience buying land in the Philippines? Is it possible for a foreigner to own land or even 40% or are there any loopholes that allow this?

The Philippines is a seriously malfunctioning nation. With its natural resources and cheap work force, it should be a thriving goldmine of opportunity. Instead, in terms of running a productive business, it is a nonproductive snake pit. Several years ago, I researched buying agricultural land. This article more-or-less summarizes what I found:

Quote:Laws on agricultural property are rather strict in the Philippines. Foreigners are prohibited from owning anything other than condominiums, and they certainly aren’t allowed to own land.

At a business meeting the other night, I spoke with several of Manila’s top real estate and legal experts. They generally told me that there is no reliable way to circumvent the laws on owning agricultural land in the Philippines unless you want to enter the “ag tourism” business.

Even locals can’t own more than five hectares (about 12.5 acres) without exceptions. That means you’ve got a lot of small family farms, some whose owners take up work on neighboring farms to supplement their low farming income.

The Philippines is a country where agricultural work is largely done by hand. It could take up to one hundred workers to harvest one hectare. Farms that could buy five machines are, instead, running crews of as many as two thousand workers.

It’s not that efficient. But farm workers can be hired for as little as $75 a month, so small-scale operations have held off on improving their efficiency.

Employing two thousand workers instead of running five machines. That reminds me of ancient India, where labor was so cheap that warlords employed entire villages just to produce one thing (e.g., armor for their battle elephants).

I'd like to get an experienced member's take on a Filipina I'm currently seeing. If you're repped and preferably a somewhat older guy with Filipina LTR experience, drop me a PM. No big drama is going on but I prefer to keep it off the public forum.

That mindset pushes to other areas of life there and is one of the reasons the cities are so shitty. For example they will have crossing guards instead of traffic signals and they don't do anything about the roads/traffic being shit because they don't value their time.

For those of you currently in the Philippines, I'd suggest laying low for a bit, and probably stay away from the beaches for now. Shit's getting pretty crazy.

Shit is already getting crazy right now in the Philippines. There are reports about a casino and hotel in Manila that has been attacked by ISIS gunmen.

Yes... you can still have tons of fun in a week. Pipeline girls on Asiandating or Filipinocupid a few days before. Black Market club is good on Wednesdays, Guilly's in Quezon city on weekends. Mall of Asia, Greenbelt and Bonifacio High Street for daygame.

It's more fun in the Philippines....

--------
The "My Way" killings are a social phenomenon in the Philippines, referring to a number of fatal disputes which arose due to the singing of the song "My Way", popularized by Frank Sinatra in karaoke bars.

So guy was going around shooting at everyone, there was also said to be explosions, ISIS claimed responsibility

Now it's said to be a "robbery gone wrong" and not one of the 36 who died suffered gunshot wounds.

And the attacker 'burnt beyond recognition', identity still not released.

And Filipinos on social media saying CCTV isn't being released, and Resorts World staff aren't allowed to talk to media.

What angry burglar decides to die by burning himself alive wrapped up in a blanket so his corpse will be totally destroyed?

No fire exits, really 36 just die of smoke inhalation?

Heard a bomb went off near RW a few weeks ago and no media covered it

"MANILA, Philippines — Philippine police say the attacker was a tall, English-speaking white man with a mustache. They say he carried an assault rifle and that he used gasoline to start a casino fire that caused clouds of smoke that left at least 36 people dead Friday morning in a sprawling entertainment complex in Manila."

No offense to your people but I've heard Filipina complain multiple times about Indians being smelly and with bad hygiene. So they're not racist per se, it's the reputation you guys have created for yourselves.

Dress well and be clean, flash some good style, and make sure this shows very well in your profile pics.

That should solve the problem for the most part. Other than that, whether girls will want you or not depends on a slew of other factors irrelevant to your nationality.

I dated a Filipina once, filthy rich, 7 looks wise. Split with her boyfriend who was in some music band some time before she met me. A couple of months after we dated she started dating an Indian dude. He was outside the country when they started corresponding and she waited for him for quite a while. He's also on and off the Philippines (two weeks in two weeks out, not sure why). And, he's quite an awkward person and apparently knows little about how to please a woman. Yet, she's all over his ass.

As I said, she's filthy rich, rich grandpa and all, so there's nothing he can buy her. And he isn't a model or anything close to that. She just likes him. And it's not because "she likes foreigners" either. She wouldn't shut up about the dumb ass foreigners she came across before I dated her.

So I suggest you forget the stereotype and do game like anybody else. Everybody gets rejected by girls, all the time, yes even in the Philippines. So let's say you'll get rejected a bit more than average. What of it?
