RE: Is There A Point Of Diminishing Returns On Weightlifting And Attracting Girls?
Although I'm new to this forum, I'd like to chime in on this somewhat "controversial" topic. I've always had a naturally toned body, and historically that made me a bit complacent when it came to weightlifting. Since I wasn't skinny, I didn't really have an incentive to lift just to have a "decent body". I was always lean (ran track in high school and college), and have had a six pack since my teenage years. I was frequently complimented on my body, and didn't really see the need to get in the gym and bulk up.

Over the last couple of months though, I've started to lift regularly, and let me tell you there has definitely been a significant difference. Both men and women compliment me more, which has led to greater confidence and improved inner game. The last girl I banged flat out told me that one of the reasons she banged me was because she "has a weakness for big arms" (at 5'7" and 150 lbs. I'm not even that big, but at 8% body fat my muscles look more defined). One thing I'm surprised that no one mentioned is the effect a nice body has on reducing LMR. To put it simply, if when you take off your shirt you look like a Greek god, a girl who may have been on the fence is more likely to fuck you than if you look shit. So that's some more motivation for you gentlemen.

Regarding McQueen's original question, I can't speak for the effects of getting "too big" since I haven't reached that point, but I think that past a certain threshold when you are unequivocally "buff", you do reach some diminishing returns. That doesn't necessarily mean that getting bigger wouldn't help, but rather that extra time spent bulking up passed the "jacked" stage might be better invested on game, work, etc. That's my opinion, but if you really love lifting it can't hurt to keep pushing yourself.

Can you get cut if you only do push ups, pull ups, sit ups and jog?

^^ Yeah definitely. Look at guys like Buakaw and Joshua Clottey. Although I know Buakaw uses some weights now, when he was at his peak he was doing only push ups, pull ups and sit ups (plus running and training mt of course). People will say those two have good genetics, but all over Thailand you've got guys in camps that are in great shape using only the above. Can't really get big, but you can look pretty good.

If you were too big you'd be a middle linebacker in the nfl or a professional bodybuilder. And those guys still pull silly amounts of tail so the answer to your question is no.

No, as long as you stay/are a natural weightlifter.

I think the answer to this question about point has something to do with point of muscle failure.

It seems one thing that is causing confusion on this thread is that it hard to picture someone's body with just height and weight. Picking some photos from bodyspace that look like you might make this easier. There is a simple search form there. Here is an example:

Might be the wrong place for this. But this thread gets a lot of eyeballs.

I benched 275 twice today one set. On the second 275, I arched - I try not too.

The arching got me thinking. How do I know that all the rest of my muscle groups are balanced to support my bench?

I have read a lot of serious lifters don't even do bench - I just have this goal of 1 time 315 rep. Just something that has motivated me.

But as I go up in weight, I just want to make sure I am protecting myself.

Since taking back to weights, I have seen all my lift weights go up. Even doing squats and deadlifts which were never my favorites. Doing more pullups than I can ever recall doing in my life. I am trying to grow proportionately.

Would appreciate any thoughts on how to know if my muscle groups are balanced to support my bench goals.

Once again - thanks to rvf for motivating me to get back into weights.

It's not if you can pull tail or not. It's if there are better uses for your time..

If there weren't diminishing returns why can I pull hot girls with wit charm intelligence languages travel stories humor knowledge etc over some much more muscular guys?

That being said, I waste a ton of time on other stuff that I would be better off spending on fitness and need to quit being a bitch and get to the gym more.

RE: Is There A Point Of Diminishing Returns On Weightlifting And Attracting Girls?
I think abou this thread and I say to myself- is there a point of being too rich or too handsome or too charismatic? I don't believe there is, but I also think that there's a basic threshold that once you pass, the girl is not going to dwell on it.

She's going to categorize you as hot or not, and I don't think there's much in between. That's when the other stuff comes in.. The "don't fuck it up" game.

I think there's a lim possibility that the girl is going to sit their critiquing your physique like a mister universe judge or whatever. She's going to be like "he's strong!" Not "he's only got 22 inch pythons but the guy at the end the bar has 23s" unless she's a size queen/gold digger type.

Absolutely. If you stick to heavy compound lifts, you'll walk out of the gym feeling like a godamned sexual tyrannasaurus rex. Heaven help the girl who comes by your place later that day.

oh yeah. I love it.

The other day I did some heavy squats and deads and had a girl waiting for me when I got home.

I was throwing her around all over the place. Choking her. Squeezing her ribs to get a better grip as I slammed her up and down on me.

going from a 315 deadlift to a 110 lbs female makes you feel like a fucking beast. Literally, a fucking beast. Theres a mirror near my bed. At one point I had her on her stomach and was fucking her from behind, my hands on her hips, knees bent and on the bed, body leaning slighty forward. I glanced over at the mirror and the posture looked exactly like some crazy ass Silverback dominating the helpless female. Animalistic.

She loved every single second. She even squirted when she was on top. I came inside her and didn't stop. Kept going another 5 minutes of rough sex till I was ready to cum again. I told her she was gonna swallow this one. Pulled out and stood up on the bed as she flipped over and swallowed every last drop with no hesitation.

Told me that was the first time she has ever swallowed in her life, and she didn't even flinch when I told her she was going to. Just raw lust and complete submission.

If I have a regular coming over I try to plan my gym time for right before.

God'll prolly have me on some real strict shit

Lots of articles out there on this topic if you dig around. Poliquin had a pretty good one about structural balance so you could look that up.

RE: Is There A Point Of Diminishing Returns On Weightlifting And Attracting Girls?
My observation: after putting on some size I feel like I am attracting more "working class" type girls. That may be because I still have a bunch of excess winter bulk, which combined with bigger shoulders gives me sort of a "construction worker" type look. (I need to lose some fat to get down into the more "athletic" category.)

If only you knew how bad things really are.

make sure you work on other stuff too. pull ups, weighted if you can. standing should press. deadlifts. these will help balance you out.

Triceps and Rotator Cuff exercises will help you increase your bench press max. Your rotator cuff plays a very important role in pushing up that weight. You are right on the money about people who don't even bench press who are body builders or competing in competitions. They are still able to push up shit loads of weight because they place a heavier emphasis on different muscle groups that help strengthen you for the bench.

Im beginning to see a pattern where girls dont like guys that are too buffed/out of their league, this seems very relevant to the idea that the hottest girls dont get hit on because the guys are too intimidated.

This is exactly the case.

I get more fitness (and black) girls at 225lbs+

but 175-190lbs is where it's at for guys 6feet to 6-3
I'm 6-2 3/8

I think you can get as big as naturally possible and still be attractive to females right across the board. Unfortunately being a bigger dude gets a bad wrap because, from experience, many amateur bodybuilders have pretty one dimensional personalities.

In saying this, I fully doubt any guy who has got quite big naturally with tight game and interesting hobbies would be less attractive than said-guy with less muscle mass. First example that pops into my head is Dan Bilzerian.

Black lizards seem to be very responsive to muscular men. I don't know if it's a marker in the black community but one definitely finds that ripped, muscular guys are a dime a dozen in heavily frequented black areas.
With this in mention, so not sure if it's social or genetic for black lizards to be attracted to muscle. Hypergamy at play, perhaps? For other groups, having big muscles doesn't seem to trigger them as blatantly, IMO.

I think due to black lizards having higher testoterone than other groups, they need more of a real man to hit their bits on a primal level hence bigger muscles being more of a clit tingler for them.

RE: Is There A Point Of Diminishing Returns On Weightlifting And Attracting Girls?
Gonna highlight some key points for me...

- Was 5"6 210 of lard at 16
- Sprouted to 5"10 dropped to 160 skinny fat
- Started lifting heavy
- Got lifts up to: Bench -275, Deads - 400, Squat- ???
- Currently 18 and just over 190
- Started BJJ and Muay Thai

I've went from obese, to skinny, to big and lifting heavy, to starting MMA and developing a new strength. Never have I seen better results from girls than when I'm bulked up (especially older women). To be clear though I've only made it to the whispering eye with 6-7 different chicas. (granted i didn't even get my first kiss from a girl until I was sixteen due to the weight and self-esteem issues)

Take it from me, it's better to be ripped.

You're not that dude who nearly suffers an asthma attack when helping a friend move furniture or during rigorous bawls deep sessions.

You look better, clothes fit better. No better sensation than arms hugging the sleeves!

You walk with confidence. When you improve, your self worth does also. Women sense this - DHV. No way the returns diminish. Smile

RE: Is There A Point Of Diminishing Returns On Weightlifting And Attracting Girls?
currently i'm 6'4 225 at 12% body fat. chicks are talking about my abs (all four of them Wink ). am i jacked? nope. but i'm clearly built out. i could be a lot a LOT bigger. but the shape and definition are key. i'm getting the best purely physical response i've gotten in a long time.

i can only speak to the difference between 6'4" at 250 and 20% vs 6'4 225 and 12% and the difference is vast.

for me so far at least, leaner has always been better than just simply bigger. at 250 i was DL' 500 and power clean 275 etc. now i can barely dl 405. but leaner is better

of all the advice i read and disregarded, the one thing i wish i would have listened to was: get as lean as you can before you bulk up. i just said fuck it before and got big. wish i would have gotten lean first.

after the summer is over i'll just slowly start to add cal's back in and lift like crazy to try and a few lbs over the winter while maintaining 12%
