Jamaica is pretty cool for a small backpacking with the gf. Would not suggest more than 2 weeks though. Nice beaches on different parts of the islands that are quiet empty and perfect to enjoy with your girlfriend. Then an interesting capital with a cool nightlife and music scene. You can also spend a few days in the mountains.

I may as well share my one night experience in Laos. I didn't get much traction with Laotian girls but it was pretty eventful. (This happened over a week ago when I did my visa run.

(The Sprite thing is bollocks haha, drink something flat. I didn't even have a tissue to wipe the sick from my nose, had to use water and my arm).

Eventually, after FOREVER, I got to the hotel in Laos at about 9am (Left Bangkok at 7pm). I ate egg on toast. Then I went to bed until 7pm.

I woke up and messaged Rio about where to go. He said he went to a rooftop bar by the riverside with two words in the name "a P and a B" (it wasn't a riddle, he just didn't remember).

I got a tuk-tuk over there, walked for a bit, then looked behind me and saw the place. I went to the rooftop, ordered a beer Lao and sat down. (I love beer Lao)

It was predominantly tourists, but there were some Laotians about (plenty of them prostitutes). I actually really liked the place, nice atmosphere.

I sat for a bit, then a Laotian guy nearby turned round and asked me if I was Swedish. I told him I was from England, and got talking to him. He was with his sister and two other female friends. We hit it off, and they insisted I have some beer from their tower. (The dude earns 100 dollars a month, crazy generosity).

After a while, I suss out that he's gay. (I asked him what music he likes. His answer was "Whitney Houston, Madonna, Miley Cyrus and One Direction). But at this point it's a pretty unremarkable detail as I have no problem with what people stick their dicks in, and it didn't seem like he was hitting on me.

In fact, he was giving me some cool advice. He told me how to bring a Laotian woman to my room with ease, told me to watch my cash and then told me to watch out for ladyboys.

"Ladyboys. In Laos?!" was my initial thought.

On Khao San Road and the islands I've seen many white girls/white knights complain about the service or something "But we just SAID that to you", like, they're complaining to a Thai person in an demanding manner, a big no-no. Just bite your lip and move on.

Also came across a dim-witted English teacher at a school I trialed at last month.

The Thai guy was very visibly insulted and tried to justify the situation.

He made a BIG rookie error (Coming from a guy who is actually three years younger than him lol).

I told him after, something like "Just a heads up man. Thailand is different to other countries. The education system is all for show. If you make a complaint, it always comes back to being the fault of the teacher. Just go with the flow and keep your head down man".

In Thailand, if a student fails, it's 100% the fault of the teacher. Just fucking pass them and move on. It's damn simple.

He's on a 70,000 baht a month salary (He does a lot of extra classes in the evenings, but that's still amazing for an English teacher). Just go along with it, wear a suit, get your paycheck and enjoy yourself. The guy is getting a damn good salary by Thai standards.

Haha, in a different conversation he said "Teachers NEED to stop leaving their contracts early, it's bringing down the profession". What a nark, we're trying to get laid with Asians here, sheesh.
