Bilbo, thanks for the post. As I said before, I never thought a wagon really made sense for someone your age except in extraordinary circumstances, so that sounds fine. This is a time when a guy can have his drinks with relative impunity, so might as well get them in.
Given what you wrote before about alcoholism in your family, I would just suggest that you watch it as the years go on and never let it get out of hand -- and don't hesitate to put a stop to it if it ever does. Having alcoholism in the family does not mean you can't be a lifelong moderate/social drinker, but it does mean you'll have to be a little more vigilant than most guys.
In the meantime, enjoy your drinks and make the best of it.

Every stupid thing I've ever done was when I was hungover or drunk starting from age 13.
If I could go back and do one thing over I know I would never drink.
Good luck.

I know everyone feel this way at least once in their life so I just type gibberish into the screen.
I'm in the same boat man.
But the good thing is that you are keeping all doors open.
I declined two reasonable job offers last week also. I just can't stand the idea of making someone else rich, I rather do something on my own.
Two day later I got a unexpected phone call and all of a sudden I'm abroad again and hustling money. One thing leads into another and I have no idea where this will take me or where it will end.
Go with flow and be patient, keep your eyes open and try to stay sober.
Things will happen.
Being drunk is a double edged sword.
It has great potential of both closing and also opening new doors in life.

Definitely almost a 'scared straight'' moment to remember to pace myself and slow it down.
Think about yourself in third person Kdog.
If one of your friends did this, for how long would you care or think about it?
2min? 5min? Not very fucking long and it would be more or less forgotten.
People care less about you than you think and have other stuff to talk about than you making an idiot of yourself.
However, it's a shit feeling yeah.
Just don't try to over redeem your imagine, it would look silly.
Move on like business as usual and don't make a big deal out of it.

I've embarrassed myself, assaulted people (including friends), done very morally questionable shit that was completely out of character, and overall acted like a psycho more times than I can count. My experience is that the majority of people care more about what you're doing and who you are NOW than they do about the past. With some exceptions of course.
Focus on being the person you want to be now and let the past go, especially brief moments where you fucked up. This moment is all you can control. We've all made mistakes, including the people who saw you make yours, and people put way much more thought into their own problems, shortcomings, and daily dramas than they ever will yours.
"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. To be your own man is a hard business. If you try it, you'll be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." - Rudyard Kipling

RE: 1 Year Drinking Wagon Challenge for 2014
Fisto, you can keep the coffee, just don't abuse it. Have exactly one cup a day, and never on an empty stomach. The best way to consume coffee is to ritualize it -- have it around the same time every day, after either breakfast or lunch. That way you can still ritually look forward to it and have it, and get pretty much all the benefits with almost none of the downside. Coffee is a vice you can keep but it really rewards moderation and consistency.
You will find that your overall well-being, sleep, and very possibly the tinnitus, will improve if you regularize and ritualize coffee and keep it to one cup a day after a meal.
Otherwise, it's great to hear about your wagon running on a good track, and now the key is to keep it going. Realize that there may still be some rough patches and challenges ahead here and there and just take them in stride if and when they come.
