Oh god no man, it's all good,I know what you meant, just expanding on your thoughts. Just that too many guys think they can wait into their 40s when that's very tough to do.

RE: Older Guys (40+)
Your 40’s sneak up on you fast.

I was in a relationship from my mid 20’s to early 30’s. When that ended I had a get out of jail party like no other. When I was 41 I met my current and 5 years later here I am married with a young kid.

Like I said I wish I was 10-15 years younger, but I’m not. I know this kid will wear me out and that my body can’t take what it once could, but that’s my reality.

My grandfather worked as a diesel mechanic and doubled as a farmer until he was 70 and would work circles around many younger men. I, myself, was a grown man well before he retired.

If you do similar your child will be a grown man or woman before you know it. Just as 40 years of age passed like the blink of an eye, so shall the next 20.

Stay on top of your health, remain active, and do it not just for yourself, but for your child, as well.

So, there's an alternative reality for you to ponder.

RE: Older Guys (40+)
I'll be 39 soon and just stumbled across this thread. So glad I did, there are some real gems in the last two pages alone. I've been thinking long and hard lately about getting older and finding this thread is a god send. Dunno if I'll manage to get through all 117 pages of it tho, but i'll try...

A couple things are bugging me: Firstly (someone touched on this earlier but cant find it now) I have had plenty relationships which have lasted over a year, with the longest being about 4 years. But no matter how hot the girl I was with, always eventually I would go off having sex with her after a couple months. Every single time this happened. But it wasn't even like I got bored, but almost to the point of being physically repulsed. My last girlfriend was the closest to a dime piece I've been with, and even a couple of my pals have described her as a 10. And yet after a few months it got to the point that I would be trying to avoid having sex with her when we went to bed. I don't know what it is, but has happened with every girl I've been with for more than a few months. Not sure if there's something wrong with me. Getting bored with the same pussy is understandable, but going off it that much that you actively try to avoid it? I don't know if that's normal.

Secondly, I'm still in two minds about kids. I've always felt they are something I wanted to have 'in the future'. But now i'm approaching 40 and I still have no desire to have kids. Even without the thought of the tremendous financial burden and loss of freedom, I just have no real desire. It just has me worried that one day I'll wake up when I'm 50 and suddenly think "shit, I wish I had children" when it's too late. But again, I'm not prepared to sacrifice everything now for something that I may or may not want later on.

Dunno if there are any of you older guys have experienced the above two things before have any advice? (I'm still working my way through the backlog of posts so apologies if this has been discussed previously)

RE: Older Guys (40+)
Yes, I definitely have something similar. The more you bang a girl, the more the sex does become less appealing, even to the point where you sometimes really don't find her pussy that attractive anymore. It's just the law of diminishing returns. I think it's normal.

In regard to children I think the key is to only go for them IF, and only if, you picked a girl you want to spend the rest of your life with. No point to think about it earlier, because the fact of having children as you rightly point out carries with it massive financial burden, lack of freedom, reduction in female attention, you can only take that if you have the perfect scenario. Ie a woman you really want to be with for the rest of your life, and children you want. Children are wonderful but the sacrifices are real and almost endless.

RE: Older Guys (40+)
Happy early birthday, Irish. I've got another mark in my early 40s up soon. There was definitely a significance to me when I exited '30-something' and entered this decade. Lots of life review. Lots of reflecting on where I was, what I wanted, what I could tolerate / accept with women and my environment, what I could change about or within myself.

It was right around when I turned 40 that I met a very special young woman I felt I could have children with. Having been red-pill for a while, I was leery of thinking her a unicorn or even a thoroughbred. But in terms of her disposition toward life, her care for me, and observing her with others and taking care of her life, she was indeed a 1 in 1,000,000 gem. I gradually felt a surprising willingness build for me to step into a stronger role as a partner and potential mate / father. I knew she would be a great mom.

But, as with so many women I've known, there was trauma in her life (and people who caused severe trauma still around her) that made it impossible for me to see being part of that family, to whom she was still quite close. The person who had caused the most severe trauma was still within one degree of separation and in her immediate family circle. They hadn't been called out. I'd never met them but I could see myself becoming very violent for what they did to her. Perhaps she'd dealt with it in a more circumspect way but the honor-driven side of me said 'this cannot stand.' Sometimes we don't know what we have until we let it go but in my heart I felt it was correct for me to let go, because part of a the stability of a good family is (IMO/IME) having strong and healthy extended ties to immediate family - both yours and hers. I'd already had a few girlfriend's whose parents acted very rudely toward me for no legitimate reason other than possibly my darker skin. I realized that marriage and long-term partnering is absolutely about family ties - ignoring that or pretending 'we can go it alone' is a juvenile fantasy. Very very few people can forge stable relationships with 'just the two of us.'

As I continue my journey, I've committed myself toward better habits overall - diet, exercise, social interaction, meaningful and invigorating work. At this point in my life, I don't find fucking vapid women appealing, no matter how outwardly attractive. I'm more oriented toward women of greater inner beauty, the feminine glow that is so rare in the corrupted blue belts / big cities of America and the West. The best women I've dated seem to all be closer to the earth and life, had or have outdoor-oriented hobbies, enjoy cooking, love animals, like to volunteer, have some feminine craft they do at home, etc. They're able to be in the world and also happy without the endless electronic stimulation validation. I find that women with those qualities touch a deeper part of me and bring out the protector / provider in a way that I feel more comfortable expressing while integrating my desire to ravage them and claim them.

These women seem rare where I am, which is a reason I'm looking to move. I also know that the social media viruses have spread widely and many otherwise traditional cultures are being infected with feminism and a perversion of decadence. Having grown up with the 'America Fuck Yeah!' from the 80s and seeing things change has made it harder for me to accept what's happening as normal or good. I've decided to embrace my work, my creative outlets, and to consider that it's more likely I would either stay a bachelor my while life and not have children (if the woman and the surrounding environment aren't healthy-enough to justify the enormous emotional, legal, and financial risks) or build my fortune and make it possible to relocate to a more traditional / less feminized country where women still embrace being women then create a family there.

Part of this long ramble is to echo what you said about not desiring sex with a woman you're with - to me, if I don't admire something about her, I'm not really attracted. Or if negative tendencies begin to reveal themselves after the honeymoon period which often happens. And honestly, knowing that a woman has been with many guys before me and likely will be with many after me can make our interaction feel less special, depending on how honestly I feel she's appreciating me as a whole being, not just certain attributes I bring to her. It's been pretty shattering for me to have mutually expressed intense bonds with a woman who later acted like I was 'just a guy she dated.' So a part of me has essentially turned off to feeling intense desire for a woman if she isn't capable of bonding with me.

'If you're not her first, you won't be her last' is something our male biology instinctively knows. We have no claim to a woman whose innocence was taken by a man she didn't stay with (or who didn't want to stay with her). There's no title for second-hand pussy, just a high-priced lease with potentially disastrous early termination fees. As the Western culture moves farther along with path of prior empires in their decadent phase (before collapse), I appreciate what Trump and company are doing to ostensibly help us reclaim some of our dignity. Let's see how it goes in the next few years.

I've taken multiple periods of time without sexually engaging with women and it's been very healing for me at several levels. Perhaps that's something you can consider as well? Spending more time in contemplation, engaging in the activities you love and fulfill your purpose, asking your higher Self / God / Spirit to bring you the best possible opportunities and a woman of quality who inspires you. That's my birthday wish for you.

I think that’s a pretty normal way to think about it. I never wanted kids at all. I thought the exact same thoughts about financial burdens and loss of freedom.

You’re smart to have those concerns IMO because it seems that a lot of people don’t think ahead.

Find a woman that will be a good mother and get to work. Even if you do get married it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll never bang another chick.

Call me old fashioned, but I think it’s possible to be a good husband and father and still bang chicks on the side.

I think as long as there's no emotional component you can still bang chicks on the side. But that's why they need to be like college girls and never social circle, neighbors, or co-workers. Because emotions can creep in.

Yellowcake

I never really thought much about kids, but was married and just mindlessly went through with it and had two kids - boys. I am not married any longer, but can candidly say that having these two kids has been the best thing I've ever done in my life - given me purpose and a sense of meaning.

I cannot say it is for everybody - and wouldn't just have kids "hoping" that you will have the same outcome. I am fortunate in this regards, and have two very real relationships with my two guys, but I takes a bit of self-awareness to navigate in such a manner.

Mate I wanted kids and was 31 and we had 3 kids.Divorced 10 years later.Duty done now I just try to enjoy myself.I think most dudes are looking for that perfect unicorn to have kids with I just got a beautiful one but not perfect. But I came from a massive family so I always wanted kids.

On the sex bit.Now that I'm 47 .I know I'm not a joy of sex guy.I'm thrill of the hunt guy.I've always been that way.Like I tried fucking fatties and 5s in my Army days but I could hardly get it up .I also felt complete disgust for myself for weeks.I'd rather have a long dry spell than fuck 4 or 5s .I don't know how guys do it.Rather p4p than do it.I hunger for beauty I have to see it have it but then I need another one. It's not sex ..maybe its the energy .This makes me the worse wingman cause I can not jump on the grenade for anyone. And why I despise Tinder.I swipe left 90% of the time like a woman does.No way can joy of sex guys understand that mindset.

The chick has to be beautiful and who I thought was the best.
Getting into pick up also made me realise this.I think Blackdragon talks about the 2 types of dudes.

My ex wife was drop dead gourgous and still looks 30.
In school the top 3 girls were all my gfs .
But once the thrill is gone I have to do better.Which brought me to being the other guy. Most hot ones are taken. And I seem to draw in taken women.I see myself as just an adventure but I got into pick up to be a kavorka ,that was my goal.

It don't matter how hot she is you will get tired amd you won't want to fuck her like a whore if you want to marry her..which is where side dick steps in.Its taken me 5 years to work this shit out and unwire my programming.

You just have to work out what type of dude you are

RE: Older Guys (40+)
So some food for thought on this Saturday. Two days ago one of my closest college buddies died of a heart attack. He had just turned 50 a couple of months ago. He was one of my closest friends when I was in college, we grew and became men together along with a few other of us. We'd go out all the time to clubs and bars , wing for each other and pick up chicks. He was lifting some furniture with his estranged wife and he had a heart attack. He died in the ambulance. The guy was an athlete back then, great soccer player so it's really hard to imagine this happening to him. I hadn't seen him in a couple years so he may have had some underlying medical condition going on and I saw on a recent youtube video he had promoting his business that he had gained some weight. Nothing crazy mind you but a little weight gain.My buddy who called me to let me know said that he was under a lot of stress running his business so who knows. The guy is leaving behind two younger kids.

Life is short. Sometimes very short. I think that things really change when you get to 50. So many people tell me how the body begins to really break down. I live healthy and I'm in really good physical shape but now I'm not sure how much that's going to help me. When the perfect storm hits your body, there's not much you can do. Growing old is no joke and for the younger guys reading this, don't waste time, it's too precious. It's the one commodity that you cannot make more of.

RE: Older Guys (40+)
Condolences DocH. It's always shocking when it's still someone relatively young.

Unless he had some genetic condition, then this likely would have been prevented - really have to do that rundown of the suppressed orthomolecular medicine. In most instances it's a massive lack of essential nutrients for decades:

Plus - many of the conventional meds have so many side-effects on top of the lousy diet, that it's no joke. Lots of it can really be prevented, but the mainstream is not interested in that. I was able to convince most of my family and friends because I showed them incredible things - like stopping massive sore throats and fevers within 20 minutes with high-dosage vitamin C, then they tested out my high-dosage multis that I recommended and they felt better, my mom has pulled extended family off diabetes meds by simple supplement recommendations within 1 month to the surprise of the MD (no diet and body-fat-change -heh - just nutrients giving the body what it needs to repair itself). It's really sad when a bunch of self-educated engineers and economists can do it better than the MDs who are lied to by mainstream medicine.

RE: Older Guys (40+)
Older gentlemen what happened to your closest friends as you hit middle age? I'm 33 and starting to find that my friends are drifting away. Either our interests are growing in different directions or more often they get a serious gf/wife/family and they completely stop making time for friends or even their own biological family.

This morning one of my friends called me all of a sudden after basically months of disappearing, ignoring texts outright or week at a time, and always being late whenever we agreed to meet up. No surprise his latest gf just broke up with him and now he needs me to entertain and make him feel better until he finds his next gf. We grew up together through college and then working together at the same company overseas. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars traveling overseas to spend time together, chase women, and do hobbies. It was all a good time but I'm starting to get the feeling that he never prioritized our friendship. We had good times so he went along but would always put on the bench whenever there was a woman or something more important going on.

Comparing him to other friends who always seem to make time for me regardless of career and family (even with mulitple kids) I can't help but feel hurt. And the few that make the time for me are dwindling year by year. I find this kind of depressing but also see it as an inevitable part of life as we get older and our priorities shift. But friendship is such an important part of healthy relationships in life I don't understand why my smart and caring friends won't put in the right energy into it! I get it takes two to tango and maybe they take me for granted because I am always willing to go out of my way for them. But don't they realize that friends take up a spot that family and lovers cannot fill? That you can only have certain conversations and experiences with friends?

So what's your friendships been like? How do you deal with challenges? And how do you build new friends in middle age+?

RE: Older Guys (40+)
(09-29-2018 11:42 PM)monsquid Wrote:  Older gentlemen what happened to your closest friends as you hit middle age?

This thread is for guys 40 and over to share their experiences, so it does not seem appropriate for you to chime in, when you have not met the minimal threshold, so come back in 7 years-ish.

RE: Older Guys (40+)
I had been considering whether to post in this thread or perhaps in a diet thread or an exercise thread.

I am now in my early 50s, and in 2011, when in my early 40s, I had some heart related issues, that caused me to have to begin over in some respects in terms of building up endurance, and changing my diet. Initially, I followed whatever the doctor said, but by 2012/2013, I realized that some of the medical standards of care regarding diet was just off (because regular doctors don’t really seem to know much about diet or even the power of diet including natural foods). Many of us here likely realize that doctors have three main tools in their toolbox that they like to push and that is lab tests, drugs and medical interventions (surgeries), so merely from reading several books, and then later participating in various RVF threads, I progressed in my diet towards low carb and increasing natural foods.

2011 through 2014, I had a pretty routine set of exercises that involved both cardio and resistance training that was around 5 days a week, but I think that starting in about late 2014, I devolved into more carb creep in my diet and less exercise. I continued to make sure that I went salsa dancing at least a couple of times a week, but that level of activity seemed to have not been enough. Perhaps I could blame some of my lessening of exercise on my then gf, but likely it was merely my own becoming lax with both diet and exercise and allowing some of our activities to substitute for some routines that should have been a bit more physically rigorous and regular, for me.

Essentially, between about early 2011 and mid 2013, my weight had gone down from about 195lbs to 175lbs and then meandered back up to 195 lbs between 2015 and early 2018 (I am 5’ 9”). It took quite a bit of time for my weight to come back up because I did not devolve so far as to begin to pig out or anything like that. I do tend to eat way better than I did prior to 2011.

Anyhow, through my latest GF, in April 2018, I had started swimming a couple of times a week and reincorporated resistance training.

In April/May whenever I went swimming with the GF, I would become a bit envious of her waterproof watch, which caused me to buy an Apple watch about 2.5 months ago (by the way it took me a few months to buy the Apple watch because I was going to wait until BTC prices went up to $12k, but then I realized that I might be waiting a very long time, or I might not end up getting an Apple watch, so I just sucked it up and bought it in July)…

I am kind of a gadget guy, and getting the Apple watch has really been very helpful to push me towards setting regular cardio goals through the monitoring of the watch, which really tended to show that I was experiencing shortness of breath at lower levels of exertion than had been present a couple years previously (and I had not really noticed – which became quite apparent when running – moreso than swimming), and seems to be kind of related to my underlying health issues and my allowing some of the exercise and diet to become more lax.

So, in recent times, I am coming around to recognizing the value of exercise again, and seeming to be more important than I had been thinking and a recent desire of mine to build up my endurance to attempt to make the shortness of breath less of an issue and to strive to either to cause my exertion shortness of breath to go away or to drastically increase the threshold in which it triggers.

RE: Older Guys (40+)
I don’t belong here, I’m turning 35 next week, but I’ve always found myself here. Curious what the future holds I guess. I just finished reading back the last ten pages or so and I have to say that this is the wisest and most grounded thread on RVF. The quality of the information in this thread is invaluable... because it is written by men of experience. Long time life experience.
Very interesting to hear the different experiences and opinions you guys have depending on which path you took and what situation you’re in now.
This thread should be mandatory reading for all younger men, while being banned from commenting themselves. Which is why I’ll go back to my corner and shut up now.
Thanks guys.

RE: Older Guys (40+)
Hey guys, I know you all are smart enough to take everything you read on the Internet w/ a grain of salt; but it hurts me to see such garbage posted on this forum in respect to medical advice.

I hate to call you out Simeon, but that post/podcast and that “Dr.” Wallach are TRASH, plain and simple. At the 4:30 mark he states that a women mistakenly had her limbs amputated b/c the doctors thought it was “sepsis” when really it “could have been” a gluten intolerance…

#1 any professional who’s not a moron or a fraud wouldn’t weigh in w/ “could have” if they don’t have all the facts. Clearly he didn’t, because he never actually said what the pathologist reported. Or maybe he did, I stopped at 7 minutes…

#2 they used that case to paint western medicine in a bad light so he could sell his snake oil.

Sepsis is initially managed w/ antibiotics, fluids and blood pressure support. If the patient is critically ill, they go to the ICU. If source control of the infection is necessary, a surgeon or interventional radiologist would be consulted. Only necrotizing fasciitis (a rapidly progressing poly-microbial gas producing bacterial infection) is serious enough to warrant surgical consultation for potential emergent amputation. Even then, nec fasc does NOT affect multiple limbs simultaneously – it would affect 1 limb and spread proximally; unless you’re watching House and the person actually has septic emboli from undiagnosed endocarditis.

Doc H, sorry for you loss. And you’re right; time/health are our most precious resources.

Heart disease is one of thee biggest killers in Americans over 40; there is no magic bullet in diagnosing or preventing heart attacks. The best defense is to eat well, exercise regularly and be aware of you risk factors (do you have multiple family members who’ve had early heart attacks? in their 30s? 40s? 50s? Do you smoke? etc).

Entire industries are built on diagnosing and treating those at risk for heart attacks, but ultimately bad things can happen no matter what you do.

As guys over 40, I PROMISE you, if you show up to an ER w/ chest pain, back pain, stomach pain, groin pain, shoulder pain, almost anything. The 1st thing you’ll get after they check your vitals, is an EKG.

Simeon, I don’t know what your experience has been w/ MDs and maybe you have been slighted and/or had a loved one done dirty, but to speak w/ such authority when you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about... is disappointing.

Seriously “orthomolecular medicine”… fuq outta here man. I hope you’re making $$$ selling that shit, I don’t know what it is, but I’m sure it ain’t cheap.

And before you make a dig about “mainstream” medicine, tell me: where would you go if you had a fever, rash, neck pain and started vomiting? Let me guess… a hospital! Because that’s where serious medical problems (like meningitis) are treated.

An MD/DO requires beating out the competition to get in, passing many stupid hard exams, 4 years of medical school and countless hours in residency/fellowship treating patients with real/serious medical illnesses. By the time they're done, they can be considered an 'expert'. In the US, you can hold these 'experts' legally accountably if they fuck up and do you wrong.

The Dunning Kruger effect is an apt description of the difference b/w medical advice from the internet/naturopath/con artist vs an MD/DO (aka an expert).

My 2 cents.

RE: Older Guys (40+)
Yeah - the Dunning Kruger effect works especially well, when orthomolecular medicine is promoted and known by MDs who were world-renown doctors before even learning about it all. Dr. Cathcart was a genius level medical inventor and he holds multiple patents, Dr. Wallach has written works that are still used by all veterinary schools since he headed the biggest nutrient studies on animals back in the 1970s and 80s.

Muh supreme medical knowledge is not a fucking consensus - there are countless studies that back this up and is no "snake-oil" salesman-ship. Dr. Klenner was using high dosage vitamin C back in the 1950s and 60s. This idea that the current medical world is utterly uncorrupt, beyond reproach is batshit insane for anyone who even casually takes a look at it.

It's more your 0,2 cents. No offense.

And we had here young medical doctors who used my links and did not believe anything, but simply checked the data out, field-tested it personally - some of it can be verified the next time you have a cold or other ailment. It's not that tough - unless one refuses to even look at it being blinded by the hubris that this could not possibly be.

“It’s really sad when a bunch of self-educated engineers and economists can do it better than the MDs who are lied to by mainstream medicine.”

I usually try to keep an open mind, but I don't think I'm the one that has a problem with hubris....

I'm happy to look into orthomolecular medicine, but would you mind pointing me in the right direction? What specified pathology has improved outcomes 2/2 orthomolecular intervention? Besides high dose Vitamin C in ICU patients; I believe RCTs are currently being done for that now.
