Testosterone levels came back within normal range (whatever that is). Anybody else boosting their T levels regardless? What effect does it have?

The ranges are bullshit and have been changed many times. If you're not up around 600-700+ I'd take it. Some docs will tell you that 350 is normal, ha.

It has exactly the effects it is supposed to have.

@Dimebait - how do you feel, is your libido good? Is your energy good?

I was checked for my prostate recently, mine is enlarged which I hear is common for men over 40 .
Prostate cancer is a big thing with men of colour.
So be careful in taking TRT, I am not sure if that effects it but I have heard conflicting opinions.

Check out Prost X and Palmettoplex by Standard Process. Top tier product for prostate health.

Accept no substitute on the name brand.

If really serious, I'd suggest going with a qualified Nutrition Response Testing Therapist who can determine the exact product and dosages. Most all NRT practitioners use Standard Process as it's the best.

RE: Older Guys (40+)
Man, I was thinking as I was walking around today, doing my weekend errands (food, etc.): things get so much better as you get older. You've got your balance, your stride, and your focus in life (more or less). You've solved a lot of those social awkwardness problems that used to plague you in your early 20s. You don't really give a shit what other pudwacks think, and this emanates off your skin like a fine scent. Your wardrobe is stylish, but not garish; grounded, but not square.

You've got the physical fitness thing solved, and now it's just about maintenance. There is dinheiro in the bank and a roof over your head. No tired, whiny bitch is dragging you down: you come and go as you please.

Is life perfect? No. But nothing on this earth is. I had a sacrifice a lot of "good times" when I was younger to get to this point, though. Everything costs, one way or another. You have to put in the work, put in the time, put in the blood. But the end result is worth it.

Early bloomers fizzle out. Late bloomer is the way to go.

Welcome to being over 40, you probably have an enlarged prostate which is normal.

Nothing to worry about, just get the PSA test done yearly.

Heh. Just this morning I was thinking about how good it feels to be in my forties, especially how little I care any more about being popular. Being authentic to myself and my values is satisfying. Others can judge me all they want; I know who I am, and that's enough.

When you're 20, you wonder what people think of you.
When you're 40, you don't care what people think of you.
When you're 60, you realize (so I've heard) - nobody ever thought of you.

Sounds about right. Similarly, I've discovered:

Unsuccessful by society's standards? Others mock you.
Successful? They minimize you.
Mediocre? They ignore you.

Life isn't about others' approval.

That sounds really low from what I'm reading here.
I do actually feel the symptoms of low T, however I've been on Lexapro for anxiety and know for a fact it decreases my libido. I'm willing to forgo the Lexapro since I'm out of my sexless LTR and my stress level has decreased.
Doc said my prostate levels (whatever he seen from blood test) looked fine.

What should my next step be?? Flat out ask my Doc for TRT or go to another Doc??

Thanks for the invaluable input fella's

My T levels pre TRT were around 300. I went straight to a TRT doc who put me on TRT after seeing that reading. TRT doc will put you on treatment at that level, no doubt. You can try with your regular doc but you may encounter some resistance because most GPs suck ass. Put it to you like this, going on TRT won't hurt you with your T levels as low as they are and most likely will help. After going on TRT, you can likely get off of the lexapro as one of the benefits of TRT is the reduction of depression symptoms. I had many of the symptoms you have (minus the depression) and it has benefited me.

Truth. Find a D.O., thats what you need (if doing it face-to-face). My DO said he wants me at ~ 1000 total, and that's right where I want to be.

GPs are great at dismissing low T levels. Don't accept that.

Hmmm maybe, depends on how good your insurance is. Some guys have managed to get it covered by insurance. Check out the testosterone thread in the Weightlifting and fitness board, boatloads of info on TRT there. Also, excelmale.com is a great website with tons of info.

One other thing - TRT (or any kind of testosterone substitute/replacement) will not cause prostate cancer, but a lot of people still think that it can.

It could, however, accelerate the development of prostate cancer if you should happen to get it while you're using anabolic steroids. I assume there is a similar risk with TRT, but you should ask your knowledgable doctor about this. I say knowledgable since so many general practitioners are either ignorant of or outwardly dismissive of the entire concept of TRT.

Good luck.

^I don't think you can say 100% that it doesn't cause prostate cancer.

Do we know what causes prostate cancer?

Steroids will increase the size of your prostate, which isn't a good thing.

I am not anti-steroids, I have dabbled with Sustanon in the past.

@Dimebait - how is your diet?

As this stage you should be eating the right foods, I hate celery but it is great for your penis. (bigger loads). I also drink a lot of beet juice, that also does wonders.

I suppose that's true - not 100%. All I can say is what doctors have written - that if you are on steroids and happen to get cancer, it will spread much faster than if you were not using them. Not sure about TRT. They would not go so far as to say that steroids would cause prostate cancer. That's still up in the air.

Did not know about the prostate swelling, but they will definitely shrink your gonads. Get off the juice and they swell right back up to normal size. That kind of hormonal manipulation has got to come with some risks.
