Anatoly thought deeply about athletic performance, ideas eventually crystalizing into convictions. We all knew Lomachenko was special, but we needed to see him against a top pound for pound just to know how great he was.

Well today he fought a legit top 5 pound for pound, just played with him, won every round, and made him quit.

Lomachenko really is something else! I am in awe!

I really want to improve my footwork + fluidity when throwing combos. I am sure this comes down to practice practice practice, but does anyone have any tips or drills I could get started on in my own time?

Also I find my body is too tight to really get low down in my stance (I'm a taller guy) because of previous leg injuries. I warm up + foam roll but wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Genuinely wasn't a shock to me. Billy Joe, like fellow-gypsy Tyson Fury, are amazingly elusive and skillful fighters...though neither have much power. Perhaps that's the trade off with that style, or maybe it's just a coincidence. Obviously being in the UK, I've had more exposure to BJS than you guys in the states. As I've said loads, boxing seems to be dying a death over there, or already has, while it's bigger than ever over here.

Precision Boxing is a good channel, I've probably seen every single one. I even bought JTs more premium videos. He's a good guy and he knows his stuff.

He was taught by the great Kenny Adams (legend in the sport especially USA Olympic boxing)

They put a strong emphasis on footwork. They know you don't box with your hands, you box with your feet. They have a ton of drills that will definitely help you with your footwork. Wish I would have known about these guys when I first started, I would have saved so much time.

They sell a video called Masterful footwork that shows you all those drills.

I have a few recorded on my phone, I can WhatsApp em to you if you'd like to check em out.

Whatever drills you decide to do, form some type of consistency. Stick with it at least 3x a week for 4 weeks. Don't just do a drill once or twice and move on.

Loma vs Linares did not disappoint. Was a great fight and huge credit to Linares for making Lomachenko work, and even dropping him with a good right hand. Although to be fair, it was more Loma losing balance due to his feet coming together than the power from Linares' straight right hand, so it didn't really change the fight in Linares' favour. After that it was just methodical from Loma to break Linares down with high volume punching from all sorts of angles and finally drop him with a solid liver shot. Some people were saying that Linares could've continued and he said so in the post-match press conference, but one look at his face when he was on the floor and when he was sitting in the corner straight afterwards could show you that he was done.

Apparently Linares weighed in at 152lb on the day of the fight and Loma was still at 135. I don't think Loma should move up to 140lb yet to face Mikey Garcia, might take more time for him to gain some weight and get used to it. I'd still love to see that fight though.

No chance Loma fights Garcia anytime soon. Not just b/c of the weight. Bob Arum, his promoter, hates Garcia and isn't going to put any money in his pocket. Garcia sat out of boxing for 2 years just to break his contract with Arum.

Anyone else excited about the fight coming up between Crawford and Horn? I see a lot of "great white hype" bettors and underdog lovers putting last minute money on Horn. I've seen the moneyline shrink from -2000 to -833 on gtbets. If it gets down to the -500 mark or so, I can see myself backing up the truck on Crawford. Merenguero highly suggested the under bet as well, but haven't seen the line on how many rounds yet.

That's going to be a good fight. I am a big Crawford fan.

Both guys are technical fighters and work the scorecards hard.

I don't gamble like most of you but I would be scared to bet on something like this. I could see a tie, Horn, or Crawford getting a tiny win. Both guys are technically very sound fighters with neither having strong punching power.

Horn's foot and hip movements to me are a little bit stiff, but he makes up for it with excellent blocking.

Crawford has great head movements and decent footwork, but sometimes he gets mental fog and freezes at odd moments. He makes up for that with good counters.

He might be good at counters, but his opponent is an excellent blocker.

Gonna be a good fight for sure! I just don't know about all that gambling....

Boy this post did not age well at all.

He still fast though. Mayweather probably still the fastest.

I guess that criticism about him not fighting enough high end talent had some merit to it.

Thing about speed, in martial arts as well as boxing, is that anyone and everyone's punches can be timed. The counter-caveat to that is that someone who is ultra fast can also time his punches, counters, and defensive adjustments WITH that same speed too!

Loma still is in his prime, if he learns from his last fight and figures out what Floyd did, he could add that feature to his skillset. If someone starts timing him, he needs to time their counters mid fight without his corner needing to tell him or without getting knocked down to figure it out.

Easier said than done though. This is about as extreme end as boxing skills can get.

One reason I wanted to see that Canelo vs GGG fight so badly was because he seemed to be going in that direction. I wanted to see how fast he had gotten now.

Anyone can be timed. Pacman was probably the fastest boxer on the planet in his prime when Marquez caught him jumping in with an overhand right and knocked him out cold.

I don't see why some people get dismissive of Loma when he got knocked down in that fight. The guy was barely affected, got up, continued his game and knocked out the bigger fighter (by 17lb on fight day). Isn't that what all boxing greats have done?

Btw Loma had some right shoulder problem in round 2, and had to get surgery after the fight. He didn't say anything in post-fight interviews etc., only saw it because he posted the surgery photos on his Instagram. Kudos to him for not bringing it up post-fight as an excuse.

They likely took the Matrix moniker too seriously. Maybe we all believed the hype a bit too much on that. How he hurt his shoulder is what I wonder about. You are right about how the opponent had a significant weight difference being a huge factor. Likely that had an effect on that shoulder injury, but I don't know for sure. Could have been from hitting that heavier guy or being hit there during a block. Could have been overtraining. Who knows.

Floyd to some degree has influenced boxing to want to mimic his defensive skills more and more. Canelo, Billy Joe Saunders, Loma, etc. etc.

Speaking of Billy, I want to see his next fight. The UK sure could use another nice big name in boxing that would be exciting to watch. He's a cocky lil shit too, with funny trash talk, which makes it even more fun to watch him.

Speaking of Pacman and being fast, I hear Amir Khan is trying to mount another come back. Now that fucker was hands down the fastest puncher in boxing in his prime. He still has no chin though.

Since Canelo vs GGG part 2 never happened, I'd really like to see Billy Joe Saunders v GGG next. Billy on top of his game is quite something, and I'd like to see him fight GGG before Golovkin starts his decline.

Yeah had Amir Khan had something better than a glass chin, he would've been right up there.

BJS might get his ass knocked out by GGG. I think he is too young and too soon to fight someone of that caliber. I could be wrong, but based on what I have seen, that would be just another Canelo vs Floyd, where Billy will be outclassed despite his talent and grit. I just don't think he has enough experience for GGG.

I'd root for Billy all the way, but I would never put money on him against GGG.
