Just chucked £20 on Fury to win by KO/Stoppage. I know it's a highly unlikely result (8/1 - not sure what that translates to in the decimal format used in the US) but makes it more fun to watch, and I would love it to happen.

Yo AJ, stay humble bro!

It`s not very likely, but I wouldn`t be shocked if Tyson stops him in the later rounds either. The bookies I`ve checked gives about 3.2x your money on a Fury decision win...maybe worth throwing 10£ in that direction as a hedge?

I bet Fury at +150 outright, couldn't hang my hat on the decision or over/under prop bet this time around. Hoping to see Wilder throw bombs from the get-go but Fury is a smart fighter with astonishing footwork and skills for someone who's 6'9". Too bad the undercards are so one-sided.

I think Fury has a good chance, but I wouldn`t be surprised if the judges screw him over. After the Klitschko fight I was sure they would give it to Wladimir, (I lost a lot of money on that fightAngry) but they where surprisingly fair. Not so sure this time around, if it goes the distance.

Fury is looking a tab chubbier than I though he would be. But then again, he`s never really been in excellent shape for any fight throughout his career. He was a bit leaner when he faced Wlad though!

You do not want to be "too lean" for this particular fight.... Wilder is big and extremely strong. He is going to need some mass to hang on if he gets tagged a few times in a bad streak. He isn't Floyd and can avoid 85%+ of the opponents punches.

Wilder also likes to grab the opponents lead hand and punch. So he is going to need some additional mass to avoid getting his hands pulled down.

The only way that will backfire on him is if it slows him down so much that he loses his speed advantage over Wilder.

Fury will have a massive weight advantage. Wilder is light enough that he could fight at cruiserweight if he wanted to. He just hits so hard he doesn't need to. A good example of weight not mattering that much in striking. Once a guy gets in the 185lb+ cateogory, he can knock anyone out. Ie..Mark Hunt vs. Manhoef

I expect Fury to fight long primarily with some frequent clinching to make Wilder carry his weight tiring him out. Wilder has a chin, took solid shots from the Cuban guy last fight. So don't see him getting knocked out.

Gypsy king by unaminous decision.

Watching Fury I really get the feeling his nickname isn't bravado.

A millenium ago he would have been an Irish high king nailing anglo-norman invaders with a spear from a hundred metres out.

A real life Goliath.

It`s his conditioning I`m thinking about when I say he`s a bit too chubby. He needs to be able to go 12 rounds at a decent pace to win this one.

I believe this fight will most likely come to a decision. Maybe a tentative start from Wilder...but his team are aware of the danger in losing the first 4-5 rounds. Then you`re in a situation where you have to look for a KO, which is not easy against Fury. My prediction is a points win for Fury, if the judges are fair.

Bodyfat percentage and conditioning are surprising uncorrelated. Not boxing per say, but Daniel Cormier has some of the best cardio in LHV/HW in the ufc and he looks like a tub of lard.

Often the ultra ripped types have the worst gas tank.

The more mass you have to move, the more ATP is required. This is basic biology. Some athletes might just have great technique and move efficiently. They don`t waste energy in other words. But a lighter person will always have the advantage when it comes to moving a certain distance etc. with the least amount energy used. (Adjusted for other factors like lung capacity, mitochondrial function, age, genetics etc.) You don`t find chubby elite runners after all.

^Long distance runners have significantly higher bodyfat than 100 meter specialists. Why is that?

-High carb diet>insulin resistance>adiposity, basically.

-Sprinting and resistance training+more protein is less lipogenic. Humans are very efficient at slow rate activity. (Adaptation to walking great distances frequently.)

-Elite runners (and other elite endurance athletes, tennis players etc.) have very low body fat, they burn of all carbs they consume. This is often not the case for the amateurs and semi-pros.

-Also, body mass (weight) and body fat percentage are not always in synch. (Although they usually are.) There is an element of physics at play here also, not just biology. It`s easier on average for a skinny fat person to run a 10k, than it is for a heavy fat person.

Looks like Fury weighed in 40+ lbs more than Wilder. How much of an advantage is that, if any? Don't know much about boxing...

Saw that one! I think the idea of fighting Fury being a mistake is quite silly. He might lose of course, but at this stage in his career it`s time to take the big fights. He`s 40-0 and have a long career behind him after all, so if he`s not ready now I doubt he ever will be. I`m with Fury though.

Yes, but when comparing two people with the same mass, but one has more muscle and the other has higher body fat, then your argument is less relevant. Just maintaining 50lbs of muscle takes can take more energy than 40 lbs of muscle and 10 pounds of fat, generally speaking.

Anyway, just because one is harder than the other doesnt mean that someone cant still have enough energy to go the distance either way.

Yes, I was referring to mass in the sense of physics basically. If you have the same bodyweight then it will depend on a lot of different elements like genetics, your training regime, mitochondrial capacity, body morphology etc. But in this case, it`s safe to say that Wilder has the advantage. I still think Fury will win though.
