Alvarez in 11 and his management was incredibly stupid for agreeing to 164.5. He's the A-side they should have told Harmon, 160 or Alvarez is fighting Saunders/Cotto/Golovkin. I won't be there for this one. I plan on going to his fight in September.

LOL! That's interesting. I actually agree with you on the weight. Canelo usually looks and fights better at 160 than when he is bigger than that. I heard Alvarez is taller than him, and a quick search shows that Chavez has 3 inches more reach.

Well, the extra weight may help with absorbing any punishment. Canelo is faster than he used to be as well.

I hope he wins, he has been on a roll lately and I like seeing him fight. He impresses me more every fight. He is growing so fast as a boxer. Just goes to show how smart Floyd was to fight him asap when he was too young to whip him.

Lewis retired a year after that fight. Tyson's people may very well have been trying to get a rematch, but Lewis might have just said he retired.

Alvarez is smart enough not to come in at the full 164.5. Take a look at the Khan fight, where Khan very stupidly came in at 155 and was noticeably slower and had fat around his waist. Besides obviously slowing Alvarez down, coming in at the full 164.5 could mess him up for his next fight, which will most likely be at 160 against either Saunders, Golovkin, or Lemieux. He did Chavez a huge favor just by giving him the fight. No other concessions should have been made. He is the A side for a reason. Yesterday, I was talking on the phone to a guy who is really good friends with Alvarez's trainer, Chepo, and who also knows Alvarez pretty well. I would be willing to manage him for free or for a nominal amount. It would be a win-win for everyone, except for the forum, as I would decide to stop posting. I don't see it happening, but who knows.

-650 straight bet on Alvarez seems too lopsided for me to take but I'd be interested in splitting up my normal sized bet into the following two
- Alvarez Round 10-12: +800
- Alvarez by KO/TKO/Disqualification: -105

Maybe put a small bet on Rounds 9-12 as well (+1400, +1800, +2000, +2800)

I'm pretty sure the odds on a straight bet will get closer before the fight, but I don't expect anything better than -400 for Alvarez, maybe not even better than -450. I had the same thought that you had regarding the prop bets, although I can't bet online and I won't be there for the fight.

In case you missed it, I took my first career loss betting on the under rounds on Golovkin/Jacobs. I have won serious money countless times and have lost once. I have no clue what happened in that fight and likely never will.

Underachieved big time. All joking aside, he has better genetics and possibly more potential than his father. I think a case can be made that he is the biggest disappointment in the history of the sport. Great chin. Potentially great power. No motivation or discipline.

Yeah, I stayed away from that one as my cousin in Vegas wasn't in town to put in a bet for me. Still, your wealth of knowledge is greatly appreciated. It's pretty crazy that you have only 1 L on your record.

The closest call in my career before that loss was the Alvarez/Smith fight, which went into the ninth round when I bet Alvarez by KO/TKO/DQ. Smith would not go away and it was really stressing me out. Everything else has been a slam dunk, shutout decisions and early knockouts. One potential fight that I think could be a goldmine is Pacquiao/Crawford. Pacquiao will be at least a slight favorite and I think there is a really good chance of Crawford taking that one and a fair chance of Crawford knocking him out. I think the way to bet is half on Crawford, straight bet, and half on Crawford by knockout. Even if it goes the distance, you should get all of your money back and maybe even make a little as long as Crawford is +100 or better, and I'm pretty sure he will be.

Both guys weighed 164. I think Alvarez came in at least four pounds over the weight he should have come in.

Are you going to the fight tomorrow? I didn't even consider it. I was there for Alvarez/Khan. I'll be at the September Alvarez fight and for Mayweather/McGregor if it ever happens.

I think so. I don't think either guy will turn down a huge payday like that. I'm thinking the Mayweather by knockout prop, which will include disqualification, will be a steal, in no small part, due to the millions of MMA fans and casuals who will be betting and will have no clue what they are doing.

Talked to a half dozen of my customers today and several mentioned how stoked they were to see McGregor fight Mayweather. The "I hate Mayweather" vibe is alive and well: I was trying not to roll my eyes when they were saying, "McGregor is a great striker, he could definitely win!" I reminded them that the match would be a boxing match and not mixed martial arts and that didn't deter them in the slightest. It's interesting how emotionally invested folks can be about athletes.

I think there is a really good chance McGregor gets disqualified, more of a chance of any fight in recent memory. The Mayweather by knockout prop should include disqualification, but make sure it does before placing a bet.

I always figure that to be people don't have much pride in what they are capable of and like identify with their sports heros. Not to mention they have no idea what actual striking is like half the time.
