Carl Frampton tonight. Should be a smashing fight. Think Frampton will win more comfortably this time than the last time. Santa Cruz is a little wild for a guy of Frampton's talent. Shame it's at 3am our time, so I'll have to catch it in the morning.
I've never understood why Mikey Garcia has never been at or near the top of the pound for pound list. Online odds on him winning by knockout tonight were about +200.
Floyd Mayweather Senior is an interesting case. The guy has the worst communication skills I have ever heard, yet he knows exactly what he's talking about. Pretty much everything he says is right on point.

I'd say it goes deeper than that... having a chin like that influences your fighting style, and I think also influences judges. Your explanation is perfectly applicable to a guy like Khan, but how about, say, Cotto and Margarito.
Cotto has had a suspect chin his entire career. And though he hasn't been knocked out dramatically with one punch, he's been close, and often, he gets rocked and is obligated to go into 'survival mode' in the round, which effectively is a loss.
Now Margarito can get hit with the exact same stuff Cotto gets hit, and the outcome for both is, if we're thinking black and white as you're insinuating, the same... neither gets knocked out. But Margarito walks through it, while Cotto has to take the entire round off. Guys like Margarito, Maidana, Provodnikov, Matthysse... when they have iron chins, that 'pressure fighter' style works best for them, because no matter what you throw at them they will keep coming. If you don't have an iron chin, that style is impossible for you to execute at an elite level. See Tim Bradley, or Victor Ortiz.
This also influences judges because even though they have criteria to follow when judging, we know a lot of them merely ask themselves one question at the end of a round: "who would I have rather been in that round?" And like it or not, even if a guy like Margarito gets peppered with shots throughout an entire round, if they had 0 effect, it's possible that a few debilitating punches from Margarito could give him the round instead.
I'm an MMA afficionado with a few years of judo and BJJ experience, but I'd love to learn more about boxing to have a better understanding of MMA stand up.
Are there any books you'd recommend for "understanding" boxing and boxing strategy? Is Youtube a better resource?
There's probably no better resource than learning it live but unfortunately it just doesn't fit my schedule right now.
Any thoughts on Pacquiao/Khan? I would have actually much preferred that Pacquiao fight Jeff Horn. Easy money on the under rounds or Pacquiao by knockout in that one. This one, I'm not so sure about. Pacquiao's power is much worse than it used to be and I also think his output is way down. He is faster than Alvarez and will be able to catch Khan much easier than Alvarez did. The question is can he hurt Khan.

I've basically gone blind doing my research on this fight and pretty much everyone is in agreement that Golovkin gets him out of there by round eight and that there is a chance that the fight could go into round nine, but that it's not likely. Possibly. I took my first ever loss on Saturday night on Golovkin/Jacobs. Everybody with any boxing knowledge whatsoever was completely sure the fight wouldn't go the distance and most were sure that the fight wouldn't go past the eight round. I took the under 7 1/2 rounds bet, thinking the only way I would lose is if the fight ended in nine rounds or something. I thought no way in hell would it go the distance. I watched the fight, yet really have no idea what happened. I woke up Sunday morning completely devastated, and I'm not a guy who is remotely bothered by anything ever. I'm okay now. It's not really a big deal overall, since all I have ever done since i started doing this in 2012 is win and the money I lost is a complete joke compared to what I won in 2016 alone. I'll be going back there, but probably not until the first of Mayweather/Mcgregor or Golovkin/Alvarez happens, which may be in September.
I'm pretty close to the venue where Lomachenko/Sosa will be held, so if you can get a good deal on decent tickets, I may be interested in you getting me one, and I would of course pay you back. Last time I checked online, the cost of resale tickets was around $100.00 to $1,000, with $1,000 literally being the best seat in the house.

Boxing in the UK is the biggest it's ever been in my lifetime – it's taken over the States in my opinion (there's way more sports that are popular there, too much competition), hence Deontay Wilder considering basing himself out here. He'd make a shit load more money, that's for sure.

Joshua was blowing out his arse after he decked him. He was screaming like a maniac and even ran to the wrong corner for the count.
Klitschko had his chance after catching him with a couple of good shots but wasn't able to put him away before the bell.

AJ will certainly have learned a great deal from this fight, he is still young and inexperienced, but he should consider himself more than a little fortunate to be sitting with his belts this morning
It's notable that in defeat, Klitschko seemed to have won a lot of respect—because he showed the kind of heart more usually associated with his brother, particularly in relation to the Lewis fight. Which, I still think is an absolute classic.
Now that the Klitschko brothers are moving out of boxing, I'm sure we'll hear from the (((media))) how the heavyweight division is suddenly interesting again. I expect Max (((Kellerman))) to be especially excited.
