What helped me at one point lose a bit of my bludge permanently was taking laxatives - I lost 10 lbs of shit from my intestinal tract that never came back.

You said that you quit eating wheat and dairy and drinking canned drinks. Those are all high-calorie foods. Of course you started losing fat when you cut those out (because you quit eating some foods that were high in calories). The foods themselves weren't causing you a problem - it was the amount of those foods you were eating.

I do. My routine is something that I really like for my goals. I do an upper/lower split 3 times a week. Monday is upper body. Wednesday is lower body. Friday is upper body. Then the next week it switches around. Monday is lower body. Wednesday is upper body, and Friday is lower body.

Upper body is Bench press, military press, pullups, 1 arm dumbbell row and supinated lat pulldown. I switch between 3x5, 3x8 and 3x12.

Lower body is squats, leg extension and leg curl. I do at least 3x12 for these (physical therapists' recommendation). I only focus on those 3 for lower body because I had a mountain bike accident that shattered my left kneecap, so the rehab has been slow and painful. So I do those 3 exercises first with both legs, and then again using just my left leg.

It has been linked to increased rates of cancer due to the growth hormones, and most people are intolerant to dairy in some way or another, either through bloating, diarrhea, or other symptoms. It also causes acne, again, due to the hormones. I still eat cheese, but no longer drink milk. I use almond milk for protein shakes, it's not very expensive.

If you can digest dairy, then there's nothing wrong with it for you. I never understood the statement that it's not okay to drink the milk of another species, yet it's somehow okay to eat their flesh (which is also treated with growth hormones)?

And furthermore, while there are studies that link dairy and red meat consumption to various health risks, there are also studies that prove the opposite. So if you have studies that say that dairy and red meat are bad, and you have studies that say that dairy and red meat are good, which do you believe (and why)?

Maybe it's your posture? More specifically, pelvic tilt

It just depends how your body reacts to it.

It's different for everyone.

I only eat it in the morning because if I eat it at night, it shows up on my belly in the morning.

Because it's artificial liquid sugar and artificial liquid sugar is the fastest way to get belly fat, in my opinion.

Because the artificial, processed sugar in Coke is really bad.

But, the naturally occurring vegetable sugar in vegetables is not nearly as bad.

And, vegetable juice works to dissolve the excess fat in our digestive tract.

For these reasons, vegetable juice is a much better option than coke for someone trying to lose their belly.

This is our major point of disagreement.

I think the sugar in coke is terrible compared to the sugar in vegetable juice.

Coke sugar = toxic (encourages fat)

Vegetable sugar = medicine (discourages fat)

In my opinion.

Well I'm going to just cut out dairy and replace with non-dairy calories for several months and see what happens. Ultimately, I don't think there is one true diet, although there are guidelines, and we actually have to experiment with our bodies to see what works.

Yes Sir, and I also said that to make the calorie deficit, I take in high amount of meat. So at the end of the day, more or less, I eat the same amount of calories as I used to.

The fastest way to get body fat is to eat more calories than you're expending. Has nothing to do with the composition of those calories.

Sugar is sugar. The sugar in Coke (depending upon where you live) will either be from corn or cane. For somebody trying to lose body fat (as you can't specifically target belly fat), it doesn't matter whether you drink Coke or veggie juice.

(05-29-2014 12:45 PM)Giovonny Wrote:  You think the sugar in Coke is the same as the sugar in fresh vegetables..?

Coke sugar = toxic (encourages fat)

Vegetable sugar = medicine (discourages fat)

The sugar in Coke (again, depending on where you live) is chemically the same as the sugar in everything else, including fresh fruits and vegetables. The sugar in Coke is either from corn or cane. There's nothing wrong with sugar. Sugar is the current scapegoat of the industry, as is dairy, wheat and gluten. Remember back when fat was bad for us? Remember back when cigarettes were good for us?

My point to all of this is that the fitness industry has resulted in a bunch of people having disordered eating. People put these weird rules on themselves, they weigh and measure their food down to the gram, they calculate their calorie burn, they ban entire food groups from their diet, etc. It's disordered eating, and it's not healthy.

I can't say if drinking Coke is healthy or not, but drinking Coke has no effect on your body composition. Sugar is sugar, and calories are calories. But personally, fuck the calories.

As Michael Pollan said ... "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." That's really all it really boils down to. Learn your body. Eat when you're truly hungry (I think that many of us have forgotten what it means to be truly hungry vs having mental hunger). Give your body the nutrients it needs, and your body will regulate itself. No dieting, no counting calories, no banning food groups, no giving into current nutritional dogma.

Oh, and stop sitting around so dang much. We're meant to move.

Unless you get sick when you consume dairy, there's no need to remove a food group from your diet.

The only way that is possible is if you also increased your exercise and/or your NEAT (Non-exercise activity thermogenesis). If neither of these changed, then it's not physically possible for you to have burned fat if you kept the same calorie intake. You're not special, and your body can not defy the laws of physics.

More nutritional disordered eating. Man, stop with the dogma. Fuck. There's a reason why people can't eat low carb for life. Think about that.

The longest living, healthiest cultures all eat a high carb, high starch diet. Every last one of them. Some of them eat dairy. They all eat animals. They aren't plagued with our own Western diseases. And yet, carbs are the devil. SMH.

One of many from pubmed:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16685046
BACKGROUND:
Low-carbohydrate diets may promote greater weight loss than does the conventional low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet.
OBJECTIVE:
We compared weight loss and biomarker change in adults adhering to a ketogenic low-carbohydrate (KLC) diet or a nonketogenic low-carbohydrate (NLC) diet.
DESIGN:
Twenty adults [body mass index (in kg/m(2)): 34.4 +/- 1.0] were randomly assigned to the KLC (60% of energy as fat, beginning with approximately 5% of energy as carbohydrate) or NLC (30% of energy as fat; approximately 40% of energy as carbohydrate) diet. During the 6-wk trial, participants were sedentary, and 24-h intakes were strictly controlled.
RESULTS:
Mean (+/-SE) weight losses (6.3 +/- 0.6 and 7.2 +/- 0.8 kg in KLC and NLC dieters, respectively; P = 0.324) and fat losses (3.4 and 5.5 kg in KLC and NLC dieters, respectively; P = 0.111) did not differ significantly by group after 6 wk. Blood beta-hydroxybutyrate in the KLC dieters was 3.6 times that in the NLC dieters at week 2 (P = 0.018), and LDL cholesterol was directly correlated with blood beta-hydroxybutyrate (r = 0.297, P = 0.025). Overall, insulin sensitivity and resting energy expenditure increased and serum gamma-glutamyltransferase concentrations decreased in both diet groups during the 6-wk trial (P < 0.05). However, inflammatory risk (arachidonic acid:eicosapentaenoic acid ratios in plasma phospholipids) and perceptions of vigor were more adversely affected by the KLC than by the NLC diet.
CONCLUSIONS:
KLC and NLC diets were equally effective in reducing body weight and insulin resistance, but the KLC diet was associated with several adverse metabolic and emotional effects. The use of ketogenic diets for weight loss is not warranted.

Western diseases, especially heart disease, obesity and diet related health problems have exploded post 1970. That co-indices with when the FDA went off the deep end into low fat diets, which have ruined the health of the west. Also, the western diet today consists of largely processed white carbs, bread, flour, pasta, pizza.

Go ahead and try eating 1900 calories of flour a day and see how well your health goes..

Also fats are not made equal. Veg oils are hell for your body. Butter, Animal fat and coconut oil (saturated fats we evolved eating) are good for you

+ watch the movie Fat Head.

For me, this whole discussion comes down to this statement..

(05-29-2014 01:29 PM)SteveCR Wrote:  It doesn't matter whether you drink Coke or veggie juice.

To suggest that Coke = Vegetable Juice is..

Well, it's ridiculous to me..

I'm going to respectfully agree to disagree with you.

Thanks for offering a different opinion, you did make me think hard about my position.

*****

To anyone looking to reduce belly fat, my personal opinion is that vegetable juice is many times more helpful then coke.

They are much different and will have much different effect on the body.

Even, if the calories are the same.

Strawberries are not that same as strawberry ice cream cake.

Drinking too much coke will make you fat.

Drinking too much vegetable juice will not make you nearly as fat, if at all.

My opinion.

The really cool part about science is that it doesn't matter if you agree with it or not. Some people just refuse to accept evidence when it contradicts what they so steadfastly believe.

You are wrong. Period.
