If you wanted to talk about what's equivalent, Roissy compared rape of a woman to cuckolding a man. I'd say that's a legitimate comparison, and that cuckoldry is pretty heinous. Ergo, rape is pretty bad. Getting beat up a little doesn't emotionally scar you like rape seems to do to women.

Uh, they raped a woman. So they're no longer "innocent." And real rape (not "Johnny came inside me when I told him not to, rape!") on some level usually involves the threat of violence and murder. As in, "bitch if you resist I will kill you."

A common question is how your feelings would change if a female family member were raped, but it doesn’t make a difference. Men are overprotective of their female loved ones and often don’t want to believe that she may have enjoyed it or that it wasn’t really that big of a deal. Hell, most men, myself included, could get violent over even an insult toward his wife, mother, daughter, or sister, but that doesn't justify rape hysteria and how it's affected our justice system.
I could understand a woman staying upset over this for a long period of time if she were a virgin waiting for her wedding night, but this was probably just a 30-year-old slut traveling alone in search of a “doesn’t count” Indian notch.
I brought this up on the thread about false rape accuser Tucker Reed, who began experiencing this “emotional distress” a year later after coming to the conclusion that she had been raped. This sort of example hints that rape-trauma could largely be from social conditioning.
According to the study cited in this article by Paul Elam, “57% of women who were raped on college campuses reported feelings that were described as ‘positive’ and ‘satisfied,’ about the experience,” and that “38% of the respondents reported a desire to repeat the experience, some obsessively so.”
As many as 21 percent of women who claimed to have been raped admit to having at least one orgasm during the experience, and researchers have hypothesized that the real figure is probably higher due to the embarrassment and denial of having enjoyed the attack.
These are the “traumatizing and life-changing attacks” that are getting men sentenced to over 10 years in maximum-security prisons.
Perfect example of why I only meet up with repped/respected members. This guy is obviously a fucking weirdo.

RE: American woman gangraped in India
I'm not trying to be a troll or get people upset, so I probably won’t write on this thread anymore after this post and not come in so opinionated on certain sensitive issues in the future. I don’t understand what was so provocative about what I’ve written when this sort of thing has been discussed here before involving society’s overreaction to rape.
The general claims I made about rape weren’t referring to this Indian incident specifically. I haven’t even read the story yet and am unaware of the nature of the crime. I wasn’t suggesting that this woman enjoyed being raped or that the rapists shouldn’t go to jail. Basilransom, when I wrote that severe sentences are “not worth the risk of ruining innocent men's lives,” I wasn’t referring to these Indian rapists, but men falsely accused of rape who often spend the remainder of their lives in prison. If it’s so easy to put innocent people in prison, the sentencing should take into account this risk.
My point was that while rape is bad, to me a gangrape isn’t that big of a deal to be a top story on the Washington Post and CNN website.
It’s not anywhere near the level of murder. In fact, the worst part about it seems to usually be psychological. Going further with that, there have been studies showing that many women are not only not psychologically tormented by rape, which is the impression one would typically have hearing feminist opinions on it, but 57 percent reported “positive” feelings toward it, with a substantial minority of victims having orgasms during the act, as even Roissy and many other RVF members have pointed out. This doesn’t justify forcible rape, and it doesn’t mean that many women aren’t emotionally scarred from it. In fact, the studies I’ve referenced could be totally BS (the study involving college students could largely be skewed toward couples), but the fact is that many victims don’t share this emotional scarring.
I wasn’t talking about a seriously violent rape involving threats of murder or the use of dangerous drugs when I said sentences were too severe. Often times, even during consensual sex, a subtle hint of discomfort on the woman’s part without any ceasing by the man could lead to rape sentences. There’s no reason why something like this scenario justifies a long sentence, even if the man was guilty of not stopping.
I imagined this Indian rape as a woman being pinned down while being raped. I know I’ve already been called a sick weirdo, but the only example I can think of is from “A Clockwork Orange.” I just don’t see what makes this so much worse than other sorts of attacks that it merits 10+ years in prison while some gang members jumping a defenseless guy and leaving him with a broken nose or leg would get far less severe sentences. If the rape victim faced serious bodily harm, then I’d feel differently about this.
While sentences are sometimes ridiculous, I don’t feel sorry for actual rapists getting life sentences in prison or even the death penalty just like I don’t care about drug users getting severe sentences because they shouldn’t have committed their crimes in the first place.

The moment you feel a need to apologize for sounding like a particular group when calling out someone's bullshit, on this forum or anywhere else, is the moment you may want to reflect on the ideas you're afraid to offend. And whether they've taken on the tint of collective narrow-minded ideology rather than being grounded in independent thought.
There was no need to preface your very-understandable rubuttals with the disclaimer. You were right to call this guy out, and even if your contribution hadn't been aligned with some "pure" line of thought, you're allowed to have your own ideas too, some of which may even be shared by "the opposition." That's what honest discourse is made of.
And if you ask me it's a big part of what makes a real man.
Just thought it was worth mentioning...
"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. To be your own man is a hard business. If you try it, you'll be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." - Rudyard Kipling

I have read quite a few stories of tourists (male and female) getting killed in forum hotspots like Columbia, Thailand and Brazil.
There is a even website dedicated to tourists who have died under suspicious circumstances in Thailand.
That's a lie. This type of stuff only happens in India. It has never happened anywhere else, ever.
Problem with this woman and many western girls travelling abroad are wishful thinking and think that the feminist dictature the west lives in applies to the rest of the world and it's all not all a bowl of cherries.
But let's call spade a spade, this kind of things happen everywhere, they're common in Africa, Latin America, and they're becoming more and more common in Western Europe (mostly among arab, indians/paquistanis and black immigrants, most convicts of rape in Europe are native of muslim countries). E.g.: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...r-old.html (by 3 Moroccans).
But the risk of being raped is not the same in Iceland or Japan as in Paquistan or Egypt. The situation of sexual harrassing to foreign women has reached the extreme of threatening the survival of Egyptian Tourism Threatening that authorities so the government has banned men from working in Spas: http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/...omens.aspx
On the other hand, without hesitating about this girl's story, I'm very exceptical about accusation of rapes, specially when there are many girls who engage to these trips to exotic countries as part of their cock carrousel and the temptation of receiving a big fat compensation of thousands of euros waiting for them back home from their anti-rape travel insurance.

As a female I might be able to speak to these three paragraphs, in particular.
Someone tried to rape me once (I assume, as it didn't get past the attempt phase). I think he must have been mentally ill, as his attempt was so badly destined to fail that it was- in retrospect- comical. It was mid-day in an upscale part of town, at a busy tram station with lots of people around. I was dressed for the office and was paying attention to my surroundings (no headphones, etc.). The man got off the tram as it opened its doors in front of me and just came at me. He was quite strong, grabbing me by the neck, almost lifting me completely up by it, all the while pushing me backwards towards a recess in the wall behind me that would have obstructed some (not all) vision. He slammed me into the wall (still by the neck) and tried to get my pants off, but it was so busy in the area that a group of men quickly pulled him off me before he could get in much more than a good feel and a tongue in my ear (ten years later and I still get grossed out when men try to kiss my ear). It's hard to articulate but sexual violence does seem to come at a much greater cost than purely physical violence, even if that extra emotional burden is solely a consequence of watching too many SVU episodes. If you gave me the choice of being beat up or having a strange man (strange in both the "weird" and "unknown to me" sense) stick his fingers in my vagina I would choose getting beat up every time. And it would be double so if it came down to being beat up or having said strange man's penis inside of me. For women (and men) my age (late twenties) there is the additional cultural issue of STIs- it's hard to get over that message that was drilled into us for years about sex being dangerous. The chances of getting HIV, or hepatitis, or HPV, or another infection, are higher when comparing sexual assaults and rapes to purely getting beaten up. I don't imagine that the average person who goes around raping people makes awesome choices about sexual health; it seems like they may be more likely to carry the infections/diseases that I've been careful to avoid thus far. I have turned down sex with men I've been very attracted to because we didn't have protection available... the cruelest twist of fate would be to have been so careful only to catch something from a disease-ridden rapist.
As for the last paragraph, there definitely is evidence that women AND men sometimes orgasm during a sexual assault. Just like I hope I don't get an STD from a rapist after being so careful with my sexual health, I also hope that if someone does rape me my body does lubricate itself to make the act less painful. I think the probability of me personally having an orgasm during a sexual assault of any type is about 0%, but I'm sure my body has all sorts of automatic responses to any stimulation of my genitals that has everything to do with the physical contact and nothing to do with my emotional or intellectual feelings about what's going on. I like sex, and at times I like rough sex, but a key part of that enjoyment for me has always been knowing that I was in that situation by choice. Think about eating cake- I like eating cake (though I'm no Lindy West!), but that doesn't mean that I want some random stranger- or even someone I know well- or even someone whose delicious cakes I've eaten before- to come up to me and start shoving cake down my throat. The fact that the cake tastes good doesn't supersede the fact that I didn't want to eat it in the first place.

RE: American woman gangraped in India
Does it ever occur to anyone that while rape is undoubtedly bad, it's the media's sensationalism of it that's making it into the West's equivalent of blaspheming Allah?
Yes, it's awful. No argument there. But feminists and the media are fetishizing it because it's a way to claim that female lives and female sexuality are more valuable than men's. My opinion is that while it's no doubt traumatic, making it into a near-religious ritual is making it ten times more traumatic for women who have suffered from it.
There is an agenda behind why rapes, including this one, are so covered in the media. It's a female supremacist agenda.
Because if rape really mattered, the millions of male-on-male rapes that happen in prison would get media coverage. They don't. Even when men get HIV from these rapes the media barely gives them any press.

I agree with this. Real rapes are horrible but what I don't like is the perpetuation of the theory that there is a "rape culture" in the US and Canada and men need to be made aware of it and we need more rape laws. For example, Lindy West when debating Jim Norton said that he doesn't have to worry about being raped but women do. What a load of BS! Women make it seem like they have to be constantly scared of being raped (in US and Canada i.e.) while walking the streets. They are creating this fear and hysteria so they can support their own arguments.
"They are creating this fear and hysteria so they can support their own arguments."
...and get their government grants or education grants. If there's no rape culture, there is no need for women's studies departments. It just occurred to me that the closer we get to equality in the workplace, the more boogiemen they'll invent since they need new things to justify their jobs and university departments.
