Re Surreyman

Believe it or not in Southern California there is a small but significant and vocal minority of Mexican illegals who are anti-US. From what I have seen these tend to be the poorest, least successful people and are mostly involved in gangs. Hopefully, some progress is made soon on deporting illegal immigrants who have committed crimes beyond coming here illegally. My observation however is that most of the Mexican illegal immigrants in Southern California are hardworking people with strong family oriented values, so personally I would hate to see this group deported.

This would have been circa 2010.

I don't know the name of the barrio that we were working that day--the organization that I was working for had methods of finding the most economically depressed/ underserved areas in the metropolitan area.

"Slum" may have been the wrong word, but I don't use it lightly. I never got a chance to see what kind of housing these people were living in, but for the vast majority of them, their major source of income was scavenging scrap metal and other salvageable material from a dumpsite. We set up our tent at the dumpsite so that we were as accessible as possible.

As far as medical care being cheap and widely available, I don't doubt that. We were targeting people who were unlikely to seek out medical care on their own. I saw almost no cases of starvation, but a large proportion of them were malnourished.

Was it Neza-Chalco-Itza?

There are quite a few slums in Mexico City, Valle de Chalco probably being one of the largest slums in the world. I went there to visit some family members of a girl I was dating back some years. Def the biggest shithole I've been to.

I'm going to take an educated guess that European Muslims tend to be the poorest, least educated people in their societies and often come to the EU illegally because they have very little hope at home. This is similar to a lot of undocumented Latin American immigrants in the United States. It appears to me that Muslim Immigrants to Europe tend to be low-class and scraping by with all kinds of oddball jobs and often living on the edge of the law. In my experience, Muslim immigrants to the States tend to be hardworking, law abiding and integrated into society at large. The quote below from the US embassy confirms that Muslim immigrants to the states have solid education and work in professional jobs.

I think that the way to do immigration is to be selective about who gets in (based on education, skills etc., not country of origin) and you don't let too many people in at once. If done right, even immigrants from cultures vastly different than your own can integrate into your society and even enhance it. The problems happen when a massive flood of immigrants come in with no controls (e.g. Mexicans to the U.S. in the 1990s-2000s and Muslims to Europe now).

"The 2007 Pew survey found that Muslim Americans generally mirror the U.S. public in education and income levels, with immigrant Muslims slightly more affluent and better educated than native-born Muslims. Twenty-four percent of all Muslims and 29 percent of immigrant Muslims have college degrees, compared to 25 percent for the U.S. general population. Forty-one percent of all Muslim Americans and 45 percent of immigrant Muslims report annual household income levels of $50,000 or higher. This compares to the national average of 44 percent. Immigrant Muslims are well represented among higher-income earners, with 19 percent claiming annual household incomes of $100,000 or higher (compared to 16 percent for the Muslim population as a whole and 17 percent for the U.S. average). This is likely due to the strong concentration of Muslims in professional, managerial, and technical fields, especially in information technology, education, medicine, law, and the corporate world. There is some evidence of a decline in the wages of Muslim and Arab men since 2001, although more recent data suggest the trend might be reversing."

https://iraq.usembassy.gov/resources/inf...tical.html

That's interesting. Do you think Latin American illegals in the US dislike America? I don't understand why they would.

Most are pro United States, but some are anti. Source: I deal with undocumented Latin American immigrants pretty much twenty four hours a day.

Objectively it was probably Manila, but Kuala Lumpur was really shitty too. The smell was horrendous. Hundreds of homeless weird looking brown people in the city center. Wasn't expecting that. Was there for business.

Btw, why are you travelling to shit holes? So you can get easy lays? I personally only travel to first tier cities or countries. NYC, LA, Tokyo etc. Why bother with shit?

RE: Where's the Biggest Shithole You've Ever Been?
Driving through some remote gypsy villages in Bulgaria and Romania was quite a sad sight to see. They literally have nothing. Complete slums.

My now wife has family in a remote Bulgarian village where I've stayed a few times. They have no indoor toilets. You squat in the outhouse. That's the norm for the villages around there. They grew and raised most of what they ate. Internet was something they couldn't comprehend. Their next door neighbors were a family of gypsies with eight children. Neither parent worked. Their house has walls which have completely fallen apart with no shelter from the elements. They all sleep and stay in a single room. They don't even have an outhouse, just shit in the yard. From what I've been told, the entire family lives on under $2 per day USD. That is sad to see. Still not as bad as the full on gypsy villages though. Those are third world slums.

Still, I've never felt anything but safe there. Beautiful scenery, rivers, wildlife, great food, tradition, a village with history but since has eroded. Stark contrast to walking down the street in the bad parts of Oakland or Richmond or Hunter's Point. Those are true shit holes.

This is something I notice when traveling abroad compared to being in the US. I've been many places abroad where people have little but they're still extremely kind hearted, warm, always offer what they can, welcoming. In the US when you approach areas like that you get the severe thug and gang mentality, where you easily can find yourself in serious situations simply for being white, or alone, or wearing the wrong color, or looking an easy target, any number of things.

India has some absolutely amazing MUST SEE places to visit but damn its tough to travel there.

Polution, super crowded, really hard to make local friends, tons of clingy beggars, dirty, smelly, food poising, people shitting on the beach, bed bugs, closest restaurant that serves meet only 3h away.... thought I was gonna have to fight two kids with my machete. Saw ONE single hot local girl in 1.5 months. She was w her bf and was still being followed by like 15 other dude lol. imo south is worse than the north and over all way worse than most of the other places on the list.

I agree. The whole Idea of going to 3rd world countries for the easy pussy should mean you totally expect the cities to look poor aka be a shithole. If someone wants to go to a city as squeaky clean as Zurich, Switzerland, then enjoy the tour, but forget about finding that pussy paradise. Santo Domingo and Jakarta are shitholes and the root causes of this are also why they are easy pussy destinations. And excessive tourism is another reason why non shitholes are not pussy paradises. Lack of appeal in 3rd world shitholes sends tourists flocking elsewere, reduces our competition for women and increases their competition for us as would-be travellers are ending up in other countries instead. For those avid pussy hunters, they should be happy such cities are there with such lack of appeal or the pussy paradises may have gotten ruined by now. Hopefully the true pussy paradises remain off the radar of mainstream tourism as there are plenty of tourist areas to see, but more limited pussy paradises..
This is why I separate my true tourism ambitions from those of pussy hunting excursions. The 2 are seldom in the same place. Places like Colombia are among the few exceptions.

Wouldn't go to many of those neighborhoods during the daytime, there's so much violent crime. Also, the West and South sides of Chicago are a freakin' war zone. There are safer parts of Iraq, no joke.

I've been to the terrible parts of Detroit, Oakland, and Toledo, and even so Richmond, CA still gave off the biggest "oh shit, I should not be here" feeling I've ever had in my life.

Richmond is a true shit hole. All that wealth in the Bay Area and it is liked they dumped all the undesirables in the West Bay. I've had several friends robbed or carjacked there. Violent thugs rule the roost.

Also forgot to mention earlier, San Bernardino is a total shithole. An industrial town that has lost a lot of jobs in the last decade. Tons of empty real estate, pot holes in the roads, drug dealers on many corners and many unsolved murders. Stay the hell away. A good friend of mine is having a hard time renting his comercial properties, even with offering 50% discounts on the rent. This is all before we had the nice little Muslim family shoot dozens of people because they threw them a Christmas party.

Stay away from SB!

Yeah, San Bernardino really went to shit in the 90's when Defense cuts forced the closure of March and Edwards Air Force Bases. Real estate went belly up and a lot of the Malls in the area were boarded up, lots of those jobs left and never came back. Thriving neighborhoods like 4th & E st, Carousel mall became overrun by gangs and drugs. San Bernardino never really recovered, which is a shame, as it used to be a thriving blue collar city. It was, and in some ways still is the epicenter of the motocross scene, lowrider culture, and the classic muscle car scene.

RE: Where's the Biggest Shithole You've Ever Been?
Baltimore, MD, where I work.

That's not a joke- the only time I have ever been genuinely frightened in a big US city was here, and I grew up in New York City in the 1970's when it was broke, and the 80's when crack was taking over.

Once after work I was driving through a neighborhood looking for a grocery store, took a wrong turn and was forced to stop at a traffic light. I looked around, and I swear it was like something out of "The Wire" but worse. Boarded up burned out houses, people staggering drunk down the sidewalk in the middle of a normal late afternoon weekday. There was no other car within 4 blocks of me, and it was dead quiet. The ... um... natives, standing outside their houses and loitering in the streets were gawking at the conservatively dressed guy sitting in his nice late model car at the intersection with an expression on their face like they had just witnessed a flying saucer descend from the sky and land in the middle of the street.

I'm a little embarrassed to say that when the light turned green I floored it.

The food makes you want to vomit just from looking at it. No one is out past 10 pm and everything seems to close by then as well. I don't really have anything positive to say about the place other than the people drive somewhat decent by Latin American standards.

So, what is the biggest shithole you guys have been too?

Hahaha, even with the 3 years difference, I thought the same when I reached Guayaquil February '16. I had to stay there for a couple of days, waiting for my flight to Colombia.
By coincidence I met a local girl and BAM, I fell in love with that city. Hanging out with them was amazing, all her friends are hot as fuck. You just dont see them on daytime (who wonders, the city really is shit). Best option in my eyes is to check out the university for hot girls.
Always when I dated a chick, she went to parque samanes, its like the only normal place there and all locals are proud of it hahaha.
This February I travel to Ecuador again and also gonna meet my chick. Guess Ill write a guide about the country then.

I did some work over there a few times. And that is literally hell on earth. Industrial plants all around, roads that look as bad as in southern Russia, and abandoned buildings as far as the eye could see.
