Athens and Greece in general is the worst place I have ever been to. With those 21 refugee camps around Athens it's horrible, everything is covered by graffiti, the square there smelled like piss, I did not understand why it's so overrated, Greece got so shitty infrastructure and services, yet it's so overpriced it was a joke.

London, the awesome city right, during the day, people in suits walking around, SWJ teaching girls how to play rugby on the trafalgar square, everything great and stuff. After night you see tents with homeless veterans, packs of africans and other "gangs".
When I was entering city I saw a building totally burned out and few blocks after that a jewish centre with a lot of armed security.

Paris is about the same situation as London, maybe the parts where you will get stabbed are on different place.

Kiev is a golden place compared do those dumps.

I've been to a lot of shitholes in my life, but the one that really stands out is Port Talbot (Wales). An ex-steel town, dirty, bleak and rife with unemployment. When I drove there on a misguided surf trip I noticed fires on either side of the valley; asking my Welsh friend what they were, he explained it was little kids setting fire to stuff as "they had nothing else to do".

Apparently there's an old joke about the place ...

My girlfriend and I were getting passionate and she says to me ' kiss me where it smells'....................so I drove her to Port Talbot

I can second that opinion. Nothing worthwhile except for Malecon. Extremely dull.

Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico - my personal Biggest Shithole award. Probably the worst city in Mexico. Run-down in the bad way, ugly girls, shitty infrastructure, way too hot (May), absolutely nothing to do in the city. Avoid like a plague.

Camaguey, Cuba - pretty much same as above except the girls are better and at least it has an old town. Nothing to do expect for carnival.

Podgorica, Montenegro - Montenegro is a tiny, awesome country with loads of worthwhile places to visit, just the capital is dull and shitty as hell.

Los Angeles - it may be controversial for some but I personally hated LA. Huge, nasty city with horrendous traffic, expensive as hell, rude people (random dude punched my car for no reason), nothing genuinely worthwile to see. The only places I liked were Venice beach and Santa Monica.

Seconded. Two years of grad school there was far longer than I could tolerate. I couldn't imagine having to spend all four years there as an undergrad. I would say this is the biggest shithole I've been to in the U.S. in terms of college towns or small cities. As far as the biggest shithole I've visited throughout the world, that's easy - New Delhi, India.

Tilbury Town, East London.
The shops are all closed or run down. A few fish and chips and rip off taxi booths left.
The locals are all chavs, trainers, tracksuit, cap and off you go. Then they had plenty white vans full of broken washing machines that they always seemed to get from the port and off load into some shack.
It felt like no one ever arrived, the train was empty when I arrived.
The sun doesn't shine in Tilbury that's for sure.

South Dakota Indian Reservations for sure, fucking shit holes. Please visit via google maps if you want to see effects of govt welfare, alcoholism, meth, et al. I have been to a few spots in central America and Mexico but Pine Ridge in South Dakota is the only place I have been chased back to the safety of my car by a pack of wild dogs.

India. Smelly, polluted, overcrowded, traffic filled, food likely to give you food poisoning, locals with terrible social skills, terrible game environment, and too hot.

Ok it can't really help the last one, but still. It doesn't help matters.

Pretty much any reason you can think of for going to India can be served by going to a more civilized country in Asia or even Africa (!).

Skopje/macedonia. The city stinks, weather is bad, girls are surprisingly mediocre (didn't see a WB local girl at all), no decent place to eat (not even a fast food restaurant, even mcdonalds was close), there is a stupid couples-only rule for clubs and even for regular pubs (whereas i never had this problem in any other country, not even in high-end joints). And in the one pub i got in they didn't allow me to sit at the bar. The whole city is basically nothing special enough to visit, bar a few monuments. on the upside it was dirt cheap.

It's my favourite city in the world but nowhere else I've seen even comes close to the shitty parts of Manila in terms of shittiness. Even if you threw a dart at a map of Manila then visited that random street, there's probably a 80% chance that it is a bigger shithole than anywhere in any other country that I've visited. However, it is a beautiful shithole.

I've travelled around lots of Asia but never to Africa or South America and I'm assuming that when I do, I'll experience much bigger shitholes!
