Girls in that venue wouldn't even know who Bourdain is. Like I said, I want to take as many forum members as I can there to help crack the code.

Thing is, is I see so many girls there that are *with* guys, but very few that are *on* guys. No making out, no grinding, not much physical contact. It seems like a huge attention-whoring fest. And there are tons of guys that are well dressed, good looking, built, tall. At one point Neil and I were joking about how we felt short, and I'm 6'3" and Neil looks to be about the same height, maybe an inch shorter. I think even Fisto might have a tough time there.

I've got a great blow hookup right now. I might head back there with a gram, do a bump myself and caveman as best I can without getting thrown out by the bouncers (there's a lot of them) If I had to guess, I'd say "Race-to-the-bottom" game is the best bet.

Seems to be a pretty air-tight story considering your occupation. (Side note: I think I may have been at your spot if I am thinking correctly. My friend threw a couple of dinner parties with some heavies and hot girls that seems to fit the description.)

It might need to be the proverbial "15 minutes of fame" and have those minutes spread out over a length of time, like 1-2 minutes over several months, like a season for TV shows. Then the constant weekly exposure will get it on the radar of the gossip rags like TMZ and PrezHilton and shit.

I can see that doing well too. Basically play the Powerful man of mystery. I'm not equipped for this right at the moment since I lost my suit in Barcelona and my replacement isn't fitted correctly, nor is it a very good suit.

This place is Buffalo Club. Some guys on here who are familiar might scoff or laugh at the idea of Buffalo Club being a hotspot, but come with me and see.

Originally it was a hangout for Power Players back in the 90s, owned by the producer of Miami Vice. It was a place to see and be seen, but it's since fallen off the map, more or less. I've been hanging out there for a few years as I've known several managers that have come and gone.

Well, a friend that works there now told me to come and check out their Friday nights. They decided to do something different and bring in some promoters and these guys have done their homework.

It's a restaurant (not very good) and lounge and on Friday's, a club. Nice back patio but the logistics are rough for picking up. It gets ridiculously packed with nowhere to chill unless you get a bottle/table.

Long Beach: Cal State LB is a large state school. In the case I was talking about, she was in nursing, via "hospital game." I suppose the affiliation with CSULB is incidental. In general, a lot of places to go out. Try 2nd street. Downtown LB is not bad (Pine ave). Long Beach Grand Prix in April is fun. Chill atmosphere. Don't forget to hit the hotel bars along Ocean Blvd on that weekend. Last time I went to this event, ended up at a house party along Ocean.

The two main nightlife areas in Long Beach are 2nd Street (Belmont Shore) and Pine Avenue (Downtown). 2nd Street is probably the best place (other than maybe around sorority houses and the CSULB campus itself) to meet girls who go to Long Beach State. On 2nd Street, Thursday nights are good at both Shannon's Bayshore and Acapulco Inn. They are both packed with Long Beach State girls. On weeknights other than Thursday, those two 2nd Street venues are worth checking out. The places on Pine Avenue and the Yardhouse are much better on weekends than on weekdays. One place I like on Pine Avenue is Alegria. It is more of a restaurant/lounge than a nightclub. The 2nd Street venues tend to have more white people and the Pine Avenue venues tend to be more Hispanic. Some white people from Orange County beach towns also go to the Pine Avenue venues on weekends.

I remember the Buffalo Club was hot maybe 7-8 years ago for a bit. Didn't even know it was still around. They had celebs going there frequently back then, I was invited once, but wasn't my scene...worked a few blocks from there back then.

you'd be surprised, there are a lot of hot foodie chicks in LA....if you were on something like Top Chef...yeah, you would get recognized. Some of these guys are like gods amoung men out here now. Hell, even Jonathan Gold probably has a steady flow of groupies.

Been browsing Craigslist for a place in LA. I'm staying in a hostel now which has many benefits but also down sides. I'm paying about 900$ a month there for a room shared with 5 others. The room has its own kitchen and bathroom and is not always fully occupied.

pros - Good bed, free wifi, breakfast, regular free food and drinks (alcohol), they have free weights and a bench to work out on. lots of people around including young girls in a party mood. Right on Hollywood bld . close to nightlife/bars in Hollywood

cons - Not much privacy. I'm outgrowing the hostel scene and couldn't give a damn about partying with drunk youngsters all the time especially since i'm mostly busy anyway. I do like to hang out occasionally but not daily.

I've seen quite a few rooms/studios on Craigslist for 800 or less.

Pros - some are within walking distance of the beach. Some are quite luxurious for that kind of money. a place with full privacy to bring a girl to.

cons - No wifi, need a car to get around. Having to cook all the time, no people around. Difficulties with payment ( income and deposit demands, 1 year lease etc etc). No bed so I have to buy one. Room or studio will be empty besides the bed.

Any tips or should I just say "fuck it"and stay in a hostel?

Why not rent just a room on airbnb instead of a whole apartment? If you rent from a cool dude shouldn't be any issues bringing girls back.

Back in another life when I owned a restaurant, I remember inviting a group of coeds in for a couple hours so they could try and make sushi. It was a great way to build a lot of comfortability and I got a few bangs out of it, relatively easily.

All you need is a 3G phone with hotspot mode. Shouldn't cost much more than $50 a month. You don't even need a wired internet connection. When my regular cable internet goes down that's what I do, just plug in my phone, use the phone as a wireless hotspot.

XIV was great two summers ago, and still pretty good last year. Haven't been this year but I'm sure its still solid. Roosevelt pool can be pretty good also.

Bungalow is going off on Sundays also. Was there about a month ago and had a great time, pulled a few hotties but then left the country a couple days later so they went dead until I ran into one of them at The Whaler on Saturday. Now it looks like she is throwing a rager on the 4th in Venice.

I travel between Austin and LA all the time for family business, and I would say your job matters less in Austin than in LA as far as picking up girls is concerned.

I just looked on CL in the temporary housing section, and saw 5-6 places for ~$600, 1-2 month stays around Westwood (UCLA). The bus lines there are easy to use and cheap, so no car. If there's no mattress, go to REI and get a nice air mattress.

I can't imagine a hostel with 5 others in the room for $900/month is your best option. Especially in the summertime with all the students that go home and don't want pay for their empty apartments.

It sounds like you need to just keep looking. Easier said than done without a car, but possible.

Google "PDAnet June Fabrics" It's an app that tethers your phone to laptop for a 4G connection. I use it, and don't pay for wifi. (You'll need an unlimited monthly data plan for this)
