Just finished a project I started last weekend. Here's the rundown: I own a 1940's beach cottage that used to have vertical gas wall heaters but I installed central heat a few years ago. In the bathroom there was still one of the old electric "toaster" style electric heaters like this



Not only was it now redundant, ugly, inefficient, and even dangerous it was sitting there taking up 240v space in the electrical panel so couple months ago I got the idea



Why not split the one 240 volt circuit into two 120v? Use one for under tile heated floor:



and the other for a towel warmer



So I pulled two new neutral (white) wires to through the attic to the subpanel, switched out the 30 amp breaker for two 15 amp breakers, tied in the original two hot (black) wires and voila!...I got radiant heat in the floor for my feet and a towel warmer for my nuts after a shower....all for just under $600...booya!

Took a couple of newbies to the range. Taught them to shoot. They spent the whole day as excited as kids at Christmas.

After only shooting twice in the past two years myself, I still managed to get a tight rifle grouping at 100 yards (a distance I've only fired at a couple of times), and a remarkable pistol grouping at 25.

Tried out three new bits of gun gear I've acquired in the past year, with enjoyable results.

Is reading books manly? I've been reading a lot recently. More than I have in years. I've been learning from Guderian how horribly wasteful trench warfare was in the Great War and how and when tanks were developed and used. He goes into great detail about tactics employed with the use of tanks. I also lifted some weights after a very long time.

I forgot about this thread. Lately, I've been doing tasks on taskrabbit to make extra money. Usually I go for the tasks like furniture assembly, heavy lifting, helping people move.

2 days ago I helped a couple of women move their furniture inside with another tasker because it was too heavy for them. After that, they had a rusty lock on their gate, I unscrewed the cover to the lock and sprayed the mechansim with wd 40 and it's as good as new. The woman was like "I would have never thought to do that! Thank you!"

Today I helped a family with a furniture assembly gone wrong, they started putting a sofabed together incorrectly and the pieces got jammed, so they send for help. I spray wd on the stuck metal pieces and pry it off and help them assemble it corrertly. They look at me like I am superman and tipped me twenty bucks on top of the normal fee.

Shit like this is pretty fun really.

Most of the tasks are deliveries, but those aren't so bad, one of the deliveries was Thursday before the big rains: they wanted me to deliver sandbangs to a warehouse and build a sandwall to keep the warehouse from flooding(it had flooded during the previous major storm). So I do that, backbreaking work, but it's part of the job. Got a text today saying that the sandwall held up and the warehouse stayed dry.(no tip but whatever)

Taskrabbit is an app similar to uber, but instead of ridesharing it is for everything. I get a text to go to x location and do x. And then they pay me, generally very well, rates vary by city. If you are good at mounting TVs, you can make extremely good money(sadly I am not), but you will be making close to 100/hour, and most of the tasks will only take you a half hour, but they still pay you the 100$. Such as it goes. It almost makes me want to go to trade school to learn to mount things properly.

Climbed on top of my girl this morning, had some bad morningwood. We fucked for a good 30 minutes or so. Now she got up and made me coffee. Now I'm sitting here on rvf and she's in the kitchen making breakfast. Life is good.

when i was a senior in post-soviet ukraine's high-school, they took us out to the range, showed us how to take the ak apart, how to put it back together, gave each of us 9 live rounds (3 singles and 3 doubles), put us on the ground, shoved their dirty boots inbetween my ankles so they i spread my legs (for more balance/control, i assume) and let us rip. it was AMAZING. i went deaf almost immediately.

the first and last (by now) time i had an automatic weapon in my hands.

Mounting TV's is actually pretty easy (3-5/10 difficulty). Like most things 90% of the battle is having the right tools. If it actually will make you more money then spend a couple hours on Youtube and you'll be a pro

I've spent a couple of hours on youtube trying to look at mounting. I would not say it is a 3/10 difficulty. But will say that's awesome if it is that easy for you, in fact, if you live in any major city, you can easy make great money mounting TVs as a side job for that exact reason, it's an in demand task that very few people can do









I'm moving in a couple of weeks to New York, may try mounting my tv when I get there and if it is no sweat, maybe I start doing it on the regular. I have the tools except for the stud finder.

Also, I am not young, I'm in the over 40 club.

You can still do it with out a stud finder. If I'm without one, I tap the wall, listen for hollow spots vs a solid spot. Of course you run a risk, but if you are strapped for time or cash it helps. Also you can try your chances with a tape measure. Typically, studs are 16 inches apart, so if you start at the corners and knock every 16 inches you can verify.

Felt like I just lost my virginity again. Rode a bull for the first time at an amateur rodeo. Lasted four seconds. I gotta say not bad for a first time rider on an intermediate level bull. Only needed four more seconds! I remember the gate opening, one second of the ride and then biting the dust...hard. The rest was straight tunnel vision but it seemed like an eternity. Massive adrenaline rush. Gearing up for round two in a bit. If I was sticking around longer, this could become seriously addictive. Man vs beast for the longest 8 seconds of one's life.
