If it gets too frustrating, you could do something similar to what I do. Well I'm on day 5 and I feel like I'm on a fucking edge.

I have first discovered the NoPorn/NoFap movement on this forum. At first I did not pay it much attention nor did I even agree with it.

Porn addiction and maladies related to it seemed ludicrous to me I thought and then I unzipped my pants and jerked of to some internet porn.

But you guys made me more observational of my fapping. I’ve realized to be in ‘possession’ of over 20 GB of pornography on my computer which stung a little. ‘Is that really normal?’ I thought to myself. Two things broke the camels back for me:

1. I realized that after fapping I was always lethargic and out of energy. My mind is foggy and I cannot concentrate. I felt like a puppet on strings, going through the motions, not feeling truly anything nor having the strength to do anything.

2. My girlfriend read an article about men not being able to cum with their partners due to porn and asked me if that is the case for me almost never having an orgasm when we have sex.

My abstinence from pornography and masturbation made me notice many changes in myself:

- heightened concentration
- heightened motivation

- better relationships with friends, family and partner
- I can hold my ground much more easily and combatively than before
- I am less scared

Was it easy? No.
Will it ever be easy to maintain? Hell no.
Is it worth it? Fuck yes.

I know you guys will make it. The days will fly by and before you’ll know it you’ll already be there.

Only now do I understand why God was made an integral part of the Alcoholics Anonymous steps to achieve sobriety – faith is needed.

Reading your post, it is clear that you were suffering from full-blown addiction. It's difficult for men to recognize these patterns because of what is considered "normal" these days, as you mentioned. Most of my peers, even most men here, masturbate to porn on a regular basis and see nothing of it. Is it normal? Now, sure. Is it healthy? In most cases, sure. However there are men like you, me, and others in this thread who have recognized negative side effects of porn, and thus make changes.

As TLOZ mentions in the wagon thread, "pure moderate drinkers" exist, and are able to have a few drinks once or twice a week and move on with their life. There are also men who cannot exist like that, and feel their life negatively impacted by alcohol. These are the men who go on the wagon. In a similar fashion, there are true "moderate porn users," who see no sexual side effects and continue to live normally, making sure to get their daily fix. We are not these men, and we must change accordingly.

I look forward to hearing more from you in this thread. To some men it is a challenge, but to some (myself included) it is a major lifestyle change that will stick with us forever.

For science, did you do NoFap or NoPorn? Did you have much sex during this time? How has performance changed?

I'm on day 15 right now, halfway to 30 days, 1/4 of the way to 60 days, and 1/6 of the way to 90 days. If you told me I would be at 15 days without fapping to orgasm, I would have said you were full of shit.

I was never heavily addicted, per-say, but I had about two years of daily/ 7-8x weekly fap. Mostly image-based porn (Playboy, artistic stuff on Tumblr), and realistic-side stuff on PornHub for video. I would go for about half an hour before sleeping everyday (and before lunch on a weekend day), and found sleeping without fap took about 6x as long to pass out (5mins vs. 30min or more). I found I didn't need it traveling, which was good. At beginning of summer, I switched from daily (with Sunday lunchtime too) to 5 days per week. I was never addicted like a cigarette smoker was. I felt lame doing it daily, and craved it nightly, but a long weekend (3-4 days) wasn't like a volcano.

In mid-September, I stopped cold turkey at the end of one week. Did not so much as touch my dick (except to piss of course), my only hard-ons were morning wood and the occasional California bombshell walking by. I never even saw my own dick erect since that date. It has been 1 month. I have felt the more aggressive edge, I can fall asleep instantly without any crutches, approaching girls is natural. I have more vigorous energy (fap never weakened me like some guys as much as it took off the edge I had in potential). After 3 days I had no urges to fap even without scoring any girls. It was easier than I thought, I am better for it and do not miss it. At the one-month mark the other day, I broke the streak by choice. I didn't succumb to an urge or uncontrollable craving.

I chose to do so. I knew that choice could ruin my achievement, but it didn't. I achieved a month and knew I could have achieved (especially with pussy on the horizon) 6 months, but I believe in moderation. I fapped to some tasteful glamour nudes, and it was enjoyable. BUT, importantly, I have no cravings. No urge. I can keep going another month, or two, or 6. I am strong-willed, my ability to go from 5/7 days to nothing for a month proves it. Unlike an alcoholic, I abused the bottle but I have full control. With a new setting and a massive amount of babes available to game I'm in the home stretch.
