How is linking this attack to multiculturalism controversial on this forum?

Almost everything we discuss is about culture, society and behavior. It's not about race.
You can chose and change your culture and religion, and are accountable for what you do.

This attack, like the many others, speaks against multiculturalism because it shows what happens when you allow the mass immigration of people that act according to very different beliefs and values, without assimilating. A country can be peaceful and multi-ethnic, but have multiple cultures in close proximity is bound to cause conflict.

Culture is about how to behave and how to communicate with each other. People from different countries with very dissimilar cultures will therefore experience interface problems. Borders help, and tourists know they have to adapt. Multiculturalism on the other hand is throwing oil and water together and being surprised they don't mix.

All they need (or want, rather) is one hostage to be beheaded and draped in an ISIS flag. They're going to let lots of them go but retain at least one for that purpose.

I hope the tipping point comes soon and we can begin weeding these people out of society like we should have done long ago. Getting tired of this shit.

They've deployed extra police at important locations all around the country, searching bags etc. If he was trying to create a distraction for another attack he's done a pretty shitty job of it.

However, the OP is right. When we in western civilization open our borders to the entire world without discriminating against who we let in, then we shouldn't be surprised when we let in people who are hostile to our way of life. It's not easy to predict what is an important target, if the point is shock and awe.

I texted that bomb threat pic to my family that live near a few of Sydney's major landmarks. Shortly after my phone's mobile data and Wi-Fi both got knocked offline, had to restart it. Coincidence?

It's unconfirmed whether these were released or escaped. If it was the later, I would be even more worried about the remaining hostages.

She was forced to post it. The gunman was refusing to communicate with the police directly, only through the hostages. He only started talking to the Police after those hostages escaped. He posted on their Facebook account's so his demands could get out to the public. Number 3 is still underwraps, the media refuses to report on the bomb threat "under Police advice".
