The phillienes are calling my name. I think it will be my next trip after my May trip to Jamaica, Cuba, and Dominican Republic. I'm not real big on Asian girls but I think the philipina look is more my type since they have the Spanish mix. It's great to know they all speak English too.

I would have the chance to go around a year from now. I'll have next October and November off, but I have to see how finances are looking. I kind of plan on moving to Miami during that time. But if I do a good job stacking loot next summer, I may be able to do the Philippines and move to Miami when I get back. Especially if I already have a job lined up in Miami, which is the idea. Id plan on staying at least a month. Haven't really worked out which cities, but it seems it's best to usually start out in the main city to get adjusted to the country, so Manila will probably be my first stop, if not maybe even spend my whole time there. What would you suggest? Anywhere you think is a just to check out?

I asked an Airbnb advertiser about the situation, this is her response which definitely is not a neutral one:

"Everything is normal here in Cebu and especially in the apartment.The typhoon hits Northern Cebu.The apartment located at the heart of Cebu City.Nothing changes here thanks god we are not really affected here during the typhoon.All the malls are open here everyday except during that day that typhoon happens here last Nov 8.But the next day everything back to normal here.Internet and power are working fine in case of power out the building will switch to their own power generator.We stayed in the apartment when that typhoon happen but everything is fine even we didn't lost internet connection. "

Yes, as you already suggested, take that information from the AirBnb rep with a grain of salt. It answers some questions about the circumstances (which may have been the questions that you asked), yet it does NOT answer some of the more important questions such as availability of units and price - currently and projected into the future (which you may have NOT asked).

Personally, I have a hunch that there will be a sort of sliding scale impact that takes several years b/c of the large scale impact of the current disaster. And, some absorption may go smoothly so long as there is NOT another major natural disaster that interferes with the progress of absorption - access to raw materials and organizing of labor around getting things rebuilt (which both seem to take money).

Also, it takes any country time to absorb these kinds of major impact events, and even resource rich countries, such as Japan, seem to suffer years' long difficulties to adapt to major calamities (and they are also pretty organized - so the rumor goes). Third world and resource depleted countries such as the Phils is going to take longer to absorb major calamities.... and yes, life goes on to some extent b/c the party areas are going to still want to attract tourists and to party to the extent that those businesses are able to keep bringing in people (tourists) to spend money.

Question for you guys -- I am a 29 year old half-Indian / half-Moroccan (really look more Indian though) guy who's looking to move abroad, preferably South-East Asia. I am fairly well-educated (Ivy league, used to work in investment banking) but really just want to do something different in a place that's more chill, fun, and where I can have a pretty decent social life aka more women.

I've been able to save up a decent amount of money (in the mid 6 figures) and have a pretty good educational background, so think I shouldn't have a hard time finding a job (I think?). On Manila, it sounds like a pretty great place in terms of effort <> return and it's a cheap place to live to boot. I am pretty flexible and adventurous. What I want to know I see all the guys here who are constantly posting about success in Manila, is this more for white guys or can mixed guys like me also do well? I am decent looking, but not 6 foot, caucasian, football player etc.

I setup a profile in filipinocupid website 2 days ago. Here is my experience so far: It's full of 4-5 girls even lower maybe who keep messaging you! after browsing it for a while I think my standards have come down noticeably! Girls that I used to rate 5 now I have to give them 6 otherwise nothing would be there to work on. I think I'm sending a message to one girl from 30 maybe (3% worth of a copy/paste message). There are some 7 maybe who are not responsive of course. Also full of scammers. From Nigeria or Ghana kind of scammers to girls who ask for money for the time they are waiting for you!

I believe that guys do NOT rely too much on online pipelining in the Phils, even though it is a supplement...... i am considering setting up a FC account that would be a part fiction travel account that is kind of a skeleton but would be close to reality but without many details -

Go to a nice hotel or resort and you will see great talent, that is tall. Creamy white skin, with beautiful face and almost Latina like body. Very good question as I'm thinking about that these days and can't decide on my itinerary. I'm thinking of 2 options 10 days in Manila and 20 days in Cebu or 30 days just in Manila. Being just in Manila saves some money I think, other than the flight to Cebu, there are some airbnb options in Manila which you don't get in Cebu and you just have to stay in Hotels (also no cooking so you'll get stuck with the local food). What do you think? Is it gonna get too boring to be in Manila for 30 days? is there anything to do there, well other than pussies?
I know I should act soon, I don't want to leave it to the last minute.

Why not check out a spot like Palawan, Boracay, Dumaguete, Siargao for a few days or a week? I like Manila but would regret not checking out at least one other spot for a few days if I was in the Philippines for a month.
