RE: Mini Retirement Planning
Went to start going around BKK, starting with taking the BTS to the Siam square and then onto the MBK mall. Siam square was jumping today even during the afternoon as there was some kind of football context or something as there were about 50 or 60 guys in different team shirts. Was fun to watch. And as far as the girls, eye candy everywhere. I wasn't much into Asians before but today, after what i've seen all around Siam Square, the MBK mall and the BTS, a few times my jaw just dropped. Some of the them are down right stunners while a great majority of them are simply adorable like little dolls. I think I'm going to really enjoy my time here. I'm seriously growing very fond of this place after each passing day.

BKK Rulez!!!!Smile

lavinci, BKK is very diff from EE or SA and has a diff feel all together imo.

I think every guy needs to check out SouthEast Asia atleast once just for the simple fact it is a new environment, culture, women, ect.

RE: Mini Retirement Planning
maybe someone else can elaborate on it.

for me it is simply checking it off the list as i want to see and experience, party/bang girls all over the globe.

i see no reason why BKK wouldnt be fun. great nightlife, the women love americans and are easy lays. sounds like a fun couple of weeks to me!

thailand has more to offer than just partying and easy women imo. they have cool temples, nice beaches, muy tai. ect

Dash, I can imagine it really is very different. It's a different continent indeed.
Tell me about the different feel that you experienced when you were there. What makes Bangkok so interesting that you say every guy should check it out for himself? How contrasting specifically is it from EE or SA?

The way I see it, it's a long way from US and I don't understand the language nor I know the culture, nor do I find the girls to be exceptionally beautiful. Why would a guy like myself want to choose
SEA over SA?

Lavinci,
the section in bold is exactly describing how I felt about BKK before coming here. I've been lurking on forums related to BKK/Thailand for years and always thinking about it but the reason it took me so long is exactly for the reasons you wrote in the bold section: language barrier, completely different culture, long flight and not being into Asians.

While I can't do anything about the flight length other than suggesting you to maybe go through Europe or the middle east (Abu Dhabi-Dubai) and stay a night or 2 there to make the long flight less tiring. Language barrier, yes that can be an issue but so far, everyone I met here has been very helpful and patient with me even if they didn't speak a word of English, they would still help me and communicate even in sign language or find someone who does speak English. Now, as far as not being into the Asian girls, I can safely say that this will be the biggest shock once you get here. Go to the Siam Square or on the BTS (The sky train) and you'll have headaches for looking all around you every 2 seconds and you'll see a stunner or at worst, an absolutely adorable little doll. Sure BKK has its fair share of dogs too, like any city. But do not discard the girls, they are amazing. Again, I felt exactly the way you do, word for word before coming here. Now that I'm here, I am not only glad I'm here but kicking myself for not coming here earlier.

I can't compare it wot EE as I have yet to go there, but suffice to say that it's a totally different environment and culture. There's a truly unique vibe to BKK that you may not find or see in EE. People are warm and nice in here, not saying that they're not in EE but I can't really explain it, you'll feel it once you're here. Plus, it's relatively cheap here.
I haven't been here long enough to really give you a full blown report filled with details but I can feel that there are so many things to do and see in here beyond just the girls that I'll be very busy in here with lots of very cool and interesting things to do. Tonight, I'm going to watch a Muay Thai fight and that alone is going to be amazing, then after that, will meet up with a cool guy I met yesterday to go bar hopping/clubbing together.
And it's not about choosing SEA over SA or EE, but to add it in addition to them. Despite being in Thailand, I am counting down the days I'll return to my favorite place on Earth, Brasil. But Thailand is a whole bag of fun in a different way.

All I can say is that Thailand will grow on you like crazy once you're here as that's what I am feeling right now. At this time, don't know what else to tell you man, but overall, it's looking like I'm going to have an amazing time in here (and not just with the girls as the girls as really the icing on the cake IMO). Hope this helps.

Suerte amigo.

RE: Mini Retirement Planning
This is such an interesting thread Smile. (Thank you for starting it OP!)

I was born and raised in Indonesia, but I've been living in Canada for the past 11 years. If anyone have some questions about Indonesia, feel free to ask me. Certainly I don't know every single detail about Indonesia, but I'll do my best to help Smile.

By the way, here are my recommendations for the hot spots there:
If you want:

* mega luxurious hotels, paradise, local and foreign/tourist girls: go to Bali

* mega luxurious hotels, vibrant nightlife, foods, and local girls: go to Jakarta. Oh, shopping is also a bonus point here...trust me, most malls in North America (and even Europe) don't stand a chance against malls in Jakarta, which has some of the biggest, luxurious, and most complete malls in the world.
If extreme traffic jam is not your thing, drop Jakarta like it's hot though...you'd only get stressed out and frustrated Smile.

Huge tip: it's a good idea to go to Jakarta during the "Lebaran" season (usually almost 2 weeks), as the traffic jams suddenly become 10 to 20 times smaller. This season keeps changing every year. In 2010, Lebaran started on 10th September. In 2011 it'll start on 31st August. So prepare ahead Smile.

* mostly paradise: Lombok and Bunaken

Cheers!!

RE: Mini Retirement Planning
VP, are you planning on doing a muay thai camp while you're there?

You said you wanted to live in Bangkok for three months. I'm moving to Bangkok specifically for business-related purposes. If I had a choice, I would live in a place like Chiang Mai or Koh (Anything) to save costs and do some serious muay thai training to get fit. I'm not sure what it is that is drawing you to Bangkok specifically for such a long time, but I suggest you move around the country during that period. Three one-month-long periods in three different places would be a better investment of your time, in my opinion.

In general I've noticed from muay thai camp testimonials that it takes three months for a complete physical transformation. The first month is generally a phase in which your body is adapting to the new workload that your body is being forced into. Then at a certain point your metabolism will just go into overdrive. I got into that phase about the end of week 3 of my month in Phuket, unfortunately.

Tropical, welcome to rooshvforum. I've heard great things about Indonesia, especially Bali.

I hear that the Islamic influence is not as dramatic or oppressive as the American media would like us believing. I also hear there are sexy stunners all over the place.

Could you recommend an Indonesian activity that would be as physically rigorous and practical as Muay Thai?

Thanks for welcoming me, youngmobileglobal! Glad to be in this really cool forum Smile.

You are right, the Islamic influence is really not as dramatic or oppressive as portrayed in the media. Indonesians are really cool people, EXTREMELY warm, patient, and easy going. The Muslim women there are not obliged to wear a headscarf, and you'd see them dressed just like the average western women. When I lived there I knew some of the Muslims too (I'm Catholic), and we got along really well too Smile.

An Indonesian activity that's as practical and rigorous as Muay Thai...the first thing that came to my mind: Pencak Silat!

It's probably Indonesia's most famous self defence system. I don't think it's as physical or violent as the Muay Thai, because most Indonesian martial arts focus on harnessing the inner (as opposed to raw physical) power. That is, Indonesian artial martists use breathing techniques to regulate their Ki (also known as Qi or Chi) energy, which can protect themselves, or even create devastating attacks against their opponents. These are the people that can create energy shield around their body, and expel attackers. Equally amazing is that they can knock down people from, say, 10 metres away, and break a stack of 20 to 30 thick marbles, using a punch that when seen by normal eyes, seem so "soft" (physically it's soft, yes, but then we can't really see the huge Ki energy required to destroy the stones anyway).

There is another martial art that focuses on harnessing the inner power. It's called Merpati Putih. If you're into this sort of thing, you can read about it here:
http://merpatiusa.com/history.html

Basically, some American people found out about it, and witnessed its awesome power, so they decided to come and train in Indonesia. Then after they mastered it, they came back to the US and founded the US branch of Merpati Putih (literally means "the white dove"). The above website is that of the US branch =).

Cheers!!

Human Weapon, Silat Episode

That's Malaysia though, not Indonesia. Are the martial art forms similar?

I've no idea about the Malaysian style, but considering its proximity to Indonesia, I would imagine it's quite close Smile.

But Pencak Silat is officially Indonesian:

RE: Mini Retirement Planning
I am now in Pattaya and this city is a freak and circus town. Went last night to the infamous Walking Street and it's a sight to behold. An entire street, almost a kilometre long of gogos. Went to a few to chill, girls inside are ranging from ok to stunners. Drinks priced reasonable at about 60 baht or 2 bucks each and it's a fun way to spend a night, flirting, getting lap dances and just chilling. It's something that has to be experienced at least once. I don't think anywhere in the world something similar exists.

However, what totally blew my mind is the number russians there and specially the russian girls there with their boyfriends/husbands almost twice their age. The Ruskies there are total knock outs, saw quite a few perfect 10's, tall slender, amazing faces and tight bodies. Damn!!!!!!!! What's the deal with all these Ruskies girls being with Russian guys twice their age? And the russian guys were for the most part, not very good looking nor in shape. Quite a few times, my jaw dropped at some of these mega hotties that I became almost oblivious to all the cute little Thai girls all around me. I gotta get my butt to Russia/Ukraine sometime next spring. I think it'll be the first time I'd be travelling to a place just for the girls and what girls. Simply spectacular!!

In contrast, some of the ugliest girls I've seen in a long time were the gringas there, specially american and english ones with their loud and obnoxious manners, shouting and laughing out loud, a few times I was tempted to shout back "shut up bitch" but decided not to bother and that the best thing to do with them at all times is to simly ignore them. Absolutey atrocious. Saw one whale, my guess is she was american, holding her boyfriend/husband's hand so tightly the poor guy's face was red and looked almost about to pass out as she was steering him to where she wanted like a little puppy. Felt really really bad for that guy. The sidewalks in Pattaya and Thailand in general are rather small and she was taking almost 3/4 of it by herself and with each step she was taking, you could almost sense the ground shaking. I mean why do guys put up with that? How can they allow themselves to sink that low? Don't they have any grain of self esteem or what? Is the state of the dating field that bad in the US that guys are letting cows and whales treat them like their puppies?

I've heard Angeles City in the PI is like this.

What would you say was the percentage of girls with their boyfriends/husbands? And did the russian guys look like mafia, company execs or just regular types?

RE: Mini Retirement Planning
Still in Pattaya, it's still one big circus and it seems that this city attracts the weirdest and craziest type of people in here, I am not kidding! But it sure is fun to just sit down and watch the scene unfold in front of you for an hour or so then go to one of the gogos and have some fun and chill with the chicks there. One thing I have to admit that some of the most absolutely smokingly stunning chicks I've seen are the Thai...Ladyboys. Some of them are mindblowing: latina looking faces and brasilian bodies/bundas. I kid you not. Insane. As I mentioned before, Pattaya is one place that has to be experienced at least once. It's unreal.

Exe,
I'm wondering the same about the Ruskies. Apparently, some of them come from the Stan countries to make some cash hooking, haven't inquired about them but my guess is they're about 3 times the price of a hot Thai chick. As to the normal tourists, I see each day a shit load of them, about 80% of them ranging from very hot to stunners. The boyfriends/husbands don't look very good looking nor in shape, but not old like the other white men you see in here. I'd say the boyfriend/husbands are in their 40's-50's while the girls are in their early 20's.

I'm interested in the single non-pro tourist girls, ideally meeting them at the beach or by the pool, although getting some on the DL from a girl who's 'attached' might be interesting & fun. Are these normal tourist girls approachable & have you tried approaching/gaming them?

Update:
After a week of partying and chilling in Pattaya, I am ready to get back to civilisation aka Bangkok tomorrow (saturday) LOL. I have a few non pros lined up from dateinasia.com for the next few days, so that'll be interesting. Also, I saw a couple of sick looking places that I can and will book using my membership in both Pattaya (think private house with a private pool) as well as in Ko Samui, a 2 bedroom unit in a 5 star resort for about 3-5 hundred/week, insane as they're going for about 2-300 Euros/night! Am very much looking forward to these, specially the private villa/pool in Pattaya, the fun and parties there will be out of the world. Banana I'll post pics and reports of that in due time.

Why couldn't they have been Canadian? Dodgy

Seriously, I don't care about the pigeonholing. I'm just playing devil's advocate. The girls could have been American, easily. However, from my experience living and traveling abroad, Canadian women are indecipherable from American women, in every imaginable way. Slutty, loud, the works.

I wouldn't be busting your balls, Vacancier, if I didn't know you to be Canadian Wink

Canada is more to the left with its implemented socialist policies, so its pretty understandable that masculinization of women is at least as much advanced as in USA.. Note that here you can be fucked just by LIVING with a woman : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common-law_marriage#Canada

I would say Canadian girls have much better attitudes and are less racially motivated than American girls. It's the best quality I could point out about them. I am generalizing of course.

exe,
the majority of the non pros tourists I saw where a) russians and b) already accompanied by their twice their age more than likely mafia boyfriend/husband. And to be honest, it's not a wise thing to do to approach a mafioso's girl if you want to stay alive. So for now, haven't even tried to approach any of them because 99.99% of them are accompanied.

There are truly exotic and beautiful Thail girls but the very beautiful ones, the ones from the upper class, I get the feeling that to get a chance at them, you need to a) live here full time; b) be established in a way (career, biz etc...), and have a strong social network that is established and from the upper class. That's the only way I feel we could get to them. Other than that, there are still some nice and beautiful girls that are easier to get to and these are the girls working in malls or have office jobs. I have a couple lined up for one tonight and one tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes.
