I felt similar when I had returned to Texas 3 years ago after an extended period abroad. There were a lot of improvements but a lot of things seemed to have gotten worse.

Some evidence of progress:

Technological upgrades in the workplace were marked and noticeable. The 'prettification' of many shared/public spaces had improved. Restaurants and retail experiences improved. Among the more educated, fashion sense and style had improved. Anecdotally, working conditions for family + friends who had stable employment seemed to have improved: more relaxed and less pressurized. In Texas, the economy was and has been humming and those that were even mildly motivated never seemed to lack for opportunity.

In the bigger cities, there were a lot more meetups and different activities to get involved in - people still seemed to have a lot of curiosity and enthusiasm for their pet interests and I find the near-obsessive way that many Americans pursue what fascinates them to be a virtue.

Another plus was that showy consumerism/materialism seemed to be falling out of favor. The social competition seemed to have shifted toward lifestyle and having the right taste in things (music, food, hobbies). As an example, whipping around in an Audi had less social prestige than being known to have a restored, classic jeep. Inviting someone out to eat Pho at a hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant would net you more credibility and appreciation than treating them to Ruth's Chris.

At least to me this was progress.

There was also noticeable decay:

A lot more people had become shamefully fat and gross and grotesque. There seemed to be an uptick in people with body-image complexes, eating disorders on the one end or some kind of physique obsessions on the other. Tats, piercings, and other forms of body modification became mainstream and also more extreme, exaggerated, and ridiculous. You had Anglo Brian from accounting with a sleeve tat he got at the mall, and hapa Lauren from H.R. with some idiotic Arabic symbol behind her ear.

Mental health seemed worse : A lot of people, young and middle aged, seemed to be on one kind of psychoactive drug or another, a phenomenon that appeared more pronounced from the educated middle classes and up. I lost count of the number of acquaintances that were 'depressed' or had an 'anxiety disorder'.

Most individuals' personalities struck me as a strange mix of affable, polarized, rigid, confused, frivolous, and self righteous all at the same time. Like the OP mentioned, there seemed to be a major uptick in snark and irony and a decrease in simple humor and playfulness. If I had to summarize, I felt that an elevated affect of bad faith, coreless-ness, and agitation had taken stronger root in the common American's soul -- at least among my cohort where I was living in a big city in Texas.

Maybe all that was to be expected in response to a deteriorating inner life.

A lot has been said on the forum about the girls and I likewise I came to find the girls somehow had gotten worse over the years. Crass, bare, clumsy, clueless, and depleting. Being intimate and trying to have relations with them was the equivalent of eating cheddar rice cakes: moderate flavor but empty calories and undernourishing.

Social media had also become exceedingly significant in the lives of nearly all my peers. I couldn't help but notice that it was the prominent medium through which most of them sought validation, dispensed approval, and revealed their selves.

Many changes then and now, and the prevailing sentiment in this thread is that these changes seem to be accelerating toward the worse.

Yet somehow I still feel that the reports of America's death are greatly exaggerated. There are numerous pockets of supreme excellence that abound in America and despite many national characteristics and traits that I consider odious, I still find that there remains a not-so-dormant strain of vigor, virility, creativity, optimism, and imagination that no other nation seems to possesses.

In the words of Charlie Sheen, a great and awful American, there's too much Tiger Blood in those veins.

The place isn't for me, but it's hard to ever count America out.

I personally believe generation z being more conservative is a lie. have you talked to anybody under the age of 20 or so? they're far more conservative than generation Y but that's like comparing the masculinity of prince and Micheal Jackson.

in general, they still have the core beliefs of most liberals. This generation is just a slight improvement of the last but much more deadly.

I do think their is something cramped and unnerving at the lengths it seems ordinary people go to today to "do something". It seems like every other Joe or Becky is doing these "crazy endurance runs" or doing backflips on mountain bikes. There's something about it which seems forced, like you're desperately trying to live up to that "freedom of choice" paradigm and "take life in full".

Perfectly valid point. It could also be said that people are so lustful towards these activities because their internal world is so empty and meaningless. The average attention span these days lead people to get bored quite easily; it seems like having real conversations with people is harder than ever.

We see it with travel. Travel has become this end-all be-all in the capitalist machine, where the ultimate prize is to "get away from it all" for a week or two...and then come back. Racking up countries and instagram posts of yoga poses on a beach in the Thai islands is a new currency.

But whatever a person's motivation is for doing these things...let them have it. It's like accountants who take up surfing at the age of 45. The surfers hate it because it's another body in the water and the accountant is just a "poser". But maybe, they've always wanted to surf and have just now gotten around to it. It's noone's place to judge.

Whatever a person's motivation to pursue an enjoyable life, let them have it. Not everyone will master internal happiness.

The current wave of obesity and insane sex relations that exist in America is not an indicator of its death. Just let it be, stay true to your own path, and don't buy into the nonsense. There are many, many people waking up to the ways of the world. Just look at our president for Christ's sake. The ills facing other countries are far worse. It's easy to praise the lifestyle in a cheap place like eastern europe or SEA, when you have American dollars in your pocket and a location-independent income. Look at the struggles facing people that make $150-500 per month and then tell me how great those places are.

The fatness and addictions and social ills are just extensions of these fundamental problems that have existed well before smartphones and fast food. But having those things available have just brought the ugliness out in the open more than ever, which is unfortunate.

I see it every day in Vegas. Want to get the pulse of America and a nice cross section of what's going on in this country? Come to Vegas.

Despite the ugliness, I can't bring myself to hate it. It's all part of the dance that we either agree to, or not. Perhaps in our lifetime we may see a great awakening, a 21st century Renaissance of sorts. Or, the machines will take over and in 100 years we'll be extinct.

Either way, it's by far the most exciting time we could possibly be alive.

If you put those things together with the demographic change also, which is the most important element in a nation or empire`s faith, you are facing a death of sorts. (Even Trump can only stave it off for a while...I think!) Whites will be a minority in the US eventually, and probably a rather small minority also. But since the US landmass is so large, there are many different scenarios that don`t really have to be that bad still. The southern part of the US is "lost" in the sense that you can`t return (after things really change in not to long) to a predominantly European culture in those areas. It`s too far gone for that.

You also have this pressing issue; (a symptom of the other problems?)


   


What I fear is that Trump will serve as a "launchpad" for a full on leftist fascist President, and that will lead to hyperinflation, loss of the dollar and ensuing economic chaos. As much as I like many of Trump`s policies, he is also not cutting the size of Government, like he said he would. There is simply too much spending, especially military spending. With the tax brakes also, and then the perpetual low interest rates/inflated stock market (and other assets) prices. Not good at all!

I mean, it`s inevitable at this point that you will get an enormous market crash at some point. My bet is that this will happen at the transition between Trump, and a radical leftist candidate. When the big players realize that their man is out, and the new candidate can`t be trusted, it will all come crashing down. Of course this is only if you get such a Presidential candidate. The eventual crash will be worse the longer we have a President like Trump. But you could of course get a "leftist" President that plays the game of the elites also, like Obama did. But I think the stage is set for a real leftist in the US, and then it`s pretty much all over, in terms of the economy at least.

The good news is that out of the old and decrepit, usually something new and better appears.

I've always found it paradoxical and ironic that the tradcons (and their Asian American counterparts, being Asian American myself) would complain about the rebellious excesses of the sixties and then see no problem with sending their kids to universities run/taught by the very people who came out of that era.

If this is the other side of the coin showing its head, then that's great news. Even before discovering the red pill, it always struck me that to be a true conservative in a world run by the current establishment fundamentally required some kind of rebellious outlook. Unfortunately most of these adults have been indoctrinated by their own traditional upbringing to follow the rules and don't rock the boat, and have been missing this critical piece of the mindset. Simeon I think you cannot necessarily say that non-european, etc immigration is necessarily a leading cause of a countries downfall. In Australia the multiculturalism has not appeared to cause too many problems (as of yet at least) but to be fair Australia is very strict about who they let into the country. New Zealand and Singapore and Malaysia, etc are also other good examples of countries that do not appear to have suffered many negative consequences of foreign immigration. Letting in every man and his dog into your country is a bad move, however strictly vetting people and focusing on mainly letting in solid and industrious middle class people from other countries has seemed to work out okay for certain countries, at least so far. Not every country is Germany.

There are many things I dislike about Australia but I do not see high levels of immigration as causing major problems for the country (aside from overpopulation of capital cities). that being said, personally if I had a choice I would stop immigration if I could not because I have a problem with immigrants but rather I have a problem with the population growth it is causing without the associated infrastructure being built to support it.

Show me any country in all of human history where a dominant majority became a minority and was able to uphold a stable prosperous country for a prolonged period - you won't find one because there isn't. All the marxist professors who went out to find examples in history came out with the opposite - diversity being a weakness and not a strength - EACH AND EVERY TIME.

Nah - political systems, obesity, unemployment, economic crises, wars, civil wars, economic depressions, even social justice depravity - those can come and go. What will destroy a place is demographics - at least when the West is concerned. All the other aspects just weaken the place temporarily.

Australia is succumbing more slowly mainly because its floods of immigrants are via the airports, not over land as with the Balkan tide or over the relatively warm and narrow Mediterranean. I vividly remember growing up in America in the 70s. I spent the 80s traveling from city to city, camping and working different jobs. Never, ever do I ever remember people being so shitty all the time. It's SO WEIRD.

I'm taking a break from watching the deeply insightful 'Mark Passio's Natural Law Seminar / Natural Law the REAL Law of Attraction' video(s) on YT for some forum browsing and now commenting.

A big point that Passio (a former / reformed member and even priest in the church of satan) makes is that humanity's collective condition is that Natural Law reflects the principle of Cause and Effect, among other principles. That could be considered the law of karma. He is very anti-New Age, which I totally appreciate having been in those circles and felt the subtle brainwashing at play (elevating 'the divine feminine,' go with the flow, acceptance, intention, etc.).

The only way to make change in one's life and to have an affect on the world is to gather knowledge (which means to shun ignorance, or the refusal of knowledge), to process that knowledge into understanding, and then to apply that understanding to concrete action in one's life (i.e. wisdom). Wisdom is NOT knowledge or understanding but the APPLICATION of understanding. Through wisdom ('right actions / behaviors') you then manifest and create your world, which mingles with the world created by everyone else.

I am convinced as I study history that civilizational erosion (the cycles of empires) comes because the majority of people are ignorant of Natural Law. I am coming to understand what these laws are, and to see how they have played out in my life. Ironically, while some people would like to say women are 'closer to nature' than men, I find that to be much the opposite as have many others observers throughout history. Women are concerned with survival, not understanding, and certainly not wisdom. Or rather, there are very, very few women who would choose to give their time to examine the state of their life (let alone the world) and to decide to make conscious changes to improve their state. Very few men do this already, and men are not given hands-outs, legs-up, indulgences and free passes as women have. It is folly, however well-meaning, to imagine that Gen Z daughters would become more enlightened, less selfish, and more feminine, nurturing mothers unless there is a sea change to correct the imbalance between women's rights and women's responsibilities. This is where feminism, which has existed in Western culture since the late 19th century and accelerated in the middle part of the 20th century, has destroyed the connection between cause and effect in modern society, in contravention with Natural Law.

Because women give birth to children and gestation is a long, drawn-out process where a woman is vulnerable, the natural instinct for men is to provide and protect for women. The men who give women more rights feel they will gain more favor with women in general. Most men seek female approval, whether for their deeds in the world or the bedroom. Men are praised for their current or potential utility to women. A 'good man' is a useful tool for the feminine imperative. This isn't inherently bad, but it's only functional to the extent that a 'good woman' is capable of being formed and joined to a 'good man' so they can create a 'good and stable family' with children. That environment does not exist, and our US civilization, for all the good Donald Trump is doing for us as a nation, is not currently and is very unlikely to address the systemic imbalances that prevent 'good women' and 'good families' from being created. So any good man become cannon fodder for the feminist-based legal and cultural system.

Women, when their rights equal their responsibilities, can form symbiotic relationships with men where the needs of each are largely met. But as soon as women are elevated to 'equal status' with men, their rights now EXCEED their responsibilities. They are loathe to give up those new, unearned rights, because their innate hypergamy seeks them to maximize the acquisition of resources for the minimum output on their part. It's a Law of Conservation of Feminine Energy, you could say. A man's nature is to seek the most sex with the least energy or resource expenditure (i.e. studying and applying game). It is folly to expect women to take up agency - they are not designed to balance their feminine impulses with masculine restraint. That's expecting too much of them. Not that they can't, but that it's a kind of psychic violence to a feminine being especially one that is very young and need more guidance than freedom. Young women (and men) are extremely impressionable and it's at the very earliest ages that indoctrination (via media, school, cultural 'norms') being to shape them to format their hard drives and to implant program which might not result in healthy behaviors. How do you safeguard a young girl or a young boy from being brainwashed? It takes not just a village, but an informed and conscious society. At the very least, a Herculean effort by parents who are truly awake and aware as to how Natural Law operates.

A man's sex chromosomes are XX, while men are XY. The innovation and changes that have occurred in the Y chromosome have driven human evolution, while idiotic biologist have attempted to say 'the Y chromosome is going extinct.' Only in an environment which support innovation, the outlier, the man who is exploring his full potential can a society continue to grow and thrive. Once the 19th amendment was passed, and then no-fault divorce, coupled with abortion on demand and welfare, the death sentence for this nation was written. The world-wide application of the fraudulent Duluth model, VAWA, Title 9 witch hunts on college campuses, 'yes means yes', sperm jacking, forced child support payments on victims of pedophile women when the boys turns 18, unmasking the identity of sperm donors to pay child support, 'enthusiastic consent', the prevalence and devastation of false rape accusations, and #metoo have further weakened men's authority. It's made the very act of engaging with women outside the family fraught with peril. There's is veneer of civility, order, even charming playfulness to a modern woman while at her beck and call there is a behemoth, a leviathan waiting to open its maws and tear you asunder. It's an act of willful ignorance, not even faith, to believe engaging with indoctrination (chiefly Western) women today is anything but Russian roulette. Yet this sickness is spreading around the world. Only in a land where men still have some rights would it be reasonable to engage in a relationship with a woman with the semblance of equity and protection for the MAN'S rights. Is there such a place? I honestly don't know. Perhaps only a very insular religious community, such as a Mennonite, Amish, or very insular Christian community. I could very seriously see myself learning more about that way of life, because the secular world is a nihilistic nightmare and the common 'religious' world is run by a perversion of what 'God' actually is, in contravention to Natural Law and the Truth of Christ's teachings.

Whether or not she has been raised to be a feminist, a women who has embraced the 'women are equal to men' trope is part of the of problem. Even if a woman in the world feel and acts feminine, you only need to curry his displeasure one too many times before the weight of the twisted law comes down upon your head. The 'church' is no help and in fact a turn-coat traitor. I was raised Catholic and find the perversion that the church has become totally abhorrent. I seek inspiration, solace, and exhortation in Christ's words and teaching but need no earth-bound emissary (or stooge) to tell me what's right and what's wrong. But women who attend church become even more deeply brainwashed than secular women, because now God is on their side, not just the government.

I am not writing this to say women are evil - I believe women are like men, capable of doing whatever they're programmed and guided to do, whatever we determine within ourselves to be truth and correct. I currently have a good female friend (former girlfriend/lover) who is studying and improving herself so we explore and share these ideas. But having also had some intense trauma related to my family life and several very dysfunctional relationships, I've recognized my tendencies to seek comfort via a woman's approval (sexual, emotional, mental, spiritual). I've needed to break those bonds and find my own connection to Spirit, God, Christ, and life. Women are not the enemy, but the actions of those with power have created a system that has allowed women to ACT as an enemy to men. It is wisdom to see this and to take action accordingly. Without a systematic set of functional constraints upon human behavior - men and women alike - we fall into dysfunction. Info vice and chaos. The governing principles of nature need to be understood and applied so that a society becomes healthy. This is possible, but it takes time, focused effort, and willingness to learn. These are qualities in very short supply when we look at the vast masses of humanity. Get people to give up their time, energy, and attention to learn (or unlearn) ideas and you get wailing and gnashing of teeth. This is something we must do individually and we can invite others to join us, but they must take the journey on their own, not on our backs nor we on theirs.

Hope is a dangerous companion to have on this journey if it's not tempered with wisdom. I would say that a calm confidence and INNER KNOWING is superior to having hope. While at this stage of my journey, I've reduced my (sexual) interactions with women when it comes to dating. The rush of flirtation and association is more of a distraction to me at this point. It's not that I can't do pick-up, but that it's not a skillset I feel compelled to primarily utilize right now. Also, with the current climate which has even wider range - between realistic / optimistic excitement for conservatives and overwhelming despair for liberal - personal relationships have become intensely polarized. It can also mean that when you find someone rare person who resonates with you (whether agape, eros, philautia, ludus, etc.), that's even more precious a connection.

I believe in the lead-up to the mid-term election, there is a lot more anxiety as much corruption and evil is being revealed. This is a time when men can get closer to God, to their purpose for being here, and to observe how others are dealing with these huge changes happening in the US and the world. I believe they are for the better, but we can't delude ourselves into thinking there aren't extreme risks for men in the Current Year when engaging with women. For the women who are truly conservative and follow Christ's teaching, they deserve our attention and kindness. But please, tread carefully men. Keep your passions in check, watch carefully, test well. The laws of man are not on your side, unless you claim protection via 'sharia law' and that's its own can of worms.

I am working to improve myself, my business, my understanding of the world, to make sure I attract, vet, and select women who also live or are willing to live within the real of Natural Law, not man's corrupted and artificial rules. A woman who feels within herself the natural and proper roles between men and women. To become the best man I can be, to claim authority over my life and those under my care, I must become fully self-governed and responsible for myself. I do believe more and more men are seeking self-improvement, whether or not they're on this forum. In a way, men are being FORCED to become more spiritual, more inner-focused, to help make sense of what has caused the outer world to become so chaotic. We can improve our lives through observation and experimentation to gain understanding, and then adjust our behaviors accordingly to manifest a beautiful life. I often wondered why muslim women in Western nations didn't simple leave islam and get on the cock carousel like the Western women.
