Heartiste had a good take on it. It has to be viewed through the context of the 1990s when Mystery developed it.

I've noticed several threads on Reddit and articles at Jezebel saying things like "Incels want government to provide them with girlfriends."

My opinion: Why not? The government already provides women with pseudo-husbands in the form the welfare state. They already get them discount food with the WIC Program (Women, Infants and Children).

This has created a culture that's brought us to "incels." The girl you would have married 40 years ago already has a kid by a bad boy who left town, so the government is now her husband.

Who says it's right for the government to help the woman (and, by extension, her irresponsible baby daddy), but not men (who make up the majority of the homeless, by the way).

Neither the harpy feminists or the white knight conservatives view this situation for what it is. So let's at least be honest about it here. The government helped cause this. Maybe they should help solve it.

The government solves chick problems because chicks are the government. Look at the entry-level bureaucrats at some government agency and it'll be a strong majority of women. These agencies exist to find more work for themselves and expand, so it's natural that they expand toward the interests and agenda of their employees.

Government moves too slowly to answer to incels, unless they form some kind of wedge voting bloc, like what happened to pass Prohibition. The Incel Party, can you imagine it?

The incel problem will be solved, if at all, by Silicon Valley. Ellen Pao, for once, is right. Tech companies have large populations of incels. Let's be realistic about two things.

1. Tech company incels, if they exist, are not at risk of going postal. They're not part of the "have nothing to lose" demographic. Given how well tech workers get paid, even seeing an escort once a week will not make a huge dent in their wallets.

2. It'll be a cold day in hell before these tech companies make any kind of virtual sex products. It would never get past the idea stage due to the outcry it would trigger.
