RE: Beware of 'foodie call' dates!
Quote:“New York is its own ball game — there is an ‘impress’ factor that guys think they have to live up to,” Balsinger says. “They want to talk to a pretty girl. Girls are offering their time and conversation.”
For any singles worried about being used for a meal ticket, Balsinger says to suggest a low-cost date such as hanging out in Central Park — and observing how matches react.
“If [your match] says no to a simple activity, that’s a red flag,” she says. “Some of my best dates have involved a bottle of wine from Duane Reade.”
The bitch is right.
It's the curse of men without Game who try to get an in.
I recently talked with a girl (stripper) who was paid 5000$ by a guy just to go to dinner with her. He also spent another 5000$ on gifts for her. While you cannot really trust her words, I somehow doubt that he fucked her. She fucks mainly muscular guys or at least men with massive Game who pass all her shit-tests.
The truth of the matter is that most men without Red Pill and Game are just blind soldiers trying to hit some target. Men with Game can turn a dinner date into an erotic thing, but likely the women would register badly anyway pre-date.
Also the more attractive you are to her, the more likely you are seen as an actual man to her instead of a walking wallet.

No kidding - in this day and age, who the hell does this on a first date?!
Drinks for the first date - dinners come after you are already having sex with her.

In Paul Graham parlance that's called a Submarine.
AKA -- now we know which matchmaking dating service employs a PR firm to spin crap like this to get them mentioned.
"So we're going to do a story about foodie calls -- get those millennial clicks, hate-readers and all, and then at about 80% through the article, we'll name drop you."

Nice catch. Submarine - I like that. The level of collusion in stories like this is probably even worse than jaded cynical readers of modern media like us realize. Just imagine what's going on over in the political pieces.

It's not a foolproof plan but it's certainly not the sin of seduction that people here like to imagine.
Some advantages of dinner dates over other types of dates...
- You're going to eat anyway, right? Why not have some great food prepared for you with some good company.
- It feels like a "proper date" to the girl. She feels like she's been treated like a lady so won't feel like a slut going back to your place afterwards.
- The right amount of distractions. For the most part, it will just but you and her so plenty of opportunity to talk and get to know each other. However, gaps in the conversation and lulls are absolutely fine because you'll need some time to actually eat, look at the menu etc. Something like a coffee date can become too boring and the vibe will die if you're not careful but those lulls that would be fatal in a coffee date do not matter in a dinner date. Also you will get much more chance to get to know each other and flirt and become comfortable together than a date doing an activity or cinema.
- Comes to a natural close at about the right time that leaves you both wanting more. After you finish your meal, you will get the bill and then go. There's not really any excuse for hanging around any longer. If you got on well then you won't want to leave each other yet but will feel quite comfortable together so where can you go? Back to your place of course! Compare this to a drinks date which can go on forever by having a drink after drink (each of which doesn't really have a time limit like a meal) and before you know it, she's too tired or drunk and distracted or needs to be up early in the morning for work.
I really don't see any "advantages" in the excuse list above, only best case scenarios bordering on delusional rationalizations from a bad initial choice.
There is no reason to put yourself into this position in the first place if all you want to do is get laid and not blow money on a gold digger who's going to meet up with Chad Thundercock the second after your sorry ass pays the check. Her mind is already made up before you even get to the appetizer anyway, so dispense with the idea that this new girl is going to suddenly find you so exciting since wow, the time just flowed right. You've been on this forum long enough to know better.

RE: Beware of 'foodie call' dates!
Biggest reasons why I can't do dinner dates is because of the whole interview feel of it, I'm pretty bad at escalating when we're sitting across from each other.
If you frequently date or take women out, then the price does add up - so I don't know why that one fellow has to mention something about being broke. Going to restaurants frequently is still money that can be spent else where, especially if you're one of the poor saps who are tricked into paying for women's meals.

Lol, and guys on this forum recommend New York as a good city for game...Anyway this is not a new phenomenon. I remember reading an article talking about the exact same thing about 5-6 years ago.
Why isn't it? Because some betas pay for women's meals? That happens everywhere.
Men pay for women's shit, this article isn't saying anything men didn't know. Thankfully, I've never had to run into a foodie person, but I do have female friends who do this kinda crap and it's pathetic.

Go to trader joes at least and get a bottle of charles shaw.
I had a girl over once. One of those girls that lives in a old-money mansion (Highland Park in Dallas or Memorial/Villages in Houston) with mommy and daddy after her engagement went off the deep end. Daddy is a surgeon, mommy is a stay at home wife. She drives an E-Class despite barely starting off a real estate career, and has an ex(P)tensive shoe/bag collection.
She only drinks certain wines that do not contain sulfites or aren't cheap because they give her headaches. She agrees to come over to my place to meet days before our first date for a quick meet and greet.
Good thing I went to Trader Joes a couple of hours before, bought some two buck chuck. Two varieties, can't remember which. Took off the label off one bottle with some warm water. I transferred the contents of one bottle to an empty $80 bottle and closed it up with a stopper.
Girl comes over, I pour her a glass...she marvels at my "fine" taste in wine, only after she saw the label and mentioned it drinking at some place the offers it for $25 a glass. She asks about the unlabeled bottle, I mentioned an expensive brand. My friends and I did a blind taste experiment to see if they could match the bottles. She drinks from that bottle too, and compliments it's good taste. She tries to guess the brand, forgetting that I just mentioned it to her.
Bitch never complained nor knew she drank $2 wine.
Edit: Damn, Darwin Buck got banned. Pour one out for that homie .
