This is off the topic, but one of the major reasons for this were the actions of a Talmud minority and also USURY. Jews in Poland and Russia lived in peace for almost a millennium. Even the few pogroms started were done by the local nobility who got squeezed by usurous debt.

That just made my day. Further in the article it also says that one of the city magistrates who had guaranteed the debt of a Syrian family is now on the hook for €6000 and over the next few years it could amount to €60,000 to €70,000.
