It really struck a chord with me, as I'm continuing to move past the failed relationship I described a page or so ago in this thread.

I was ready to really commit to that girl, content to give her as much of my time, money, energy, attention, etc. as would be required to not just make her happy, but for us to build a good life together.

I'm only in my mid-twenties, but I run my own business, have a college degree and a six-figure net worth, six-pack abs, above average game, fun hobbies/interests, and a unique social circle/lifestyle setup that would blow most folks' minds if I were to talk about it.

And she turned it all down anyway.

She wanted to go out, get drunk, dance at shows, party with her friends, and only work just hard enough to make it to the next round of weekend fun. Even though her words agreed with mine from the beginning, her actions eventually displayed her real priorities.

And like I mentioned in my previous post, with her being a 21 year-old American girl I shouldn't have been surprised. It was my fault for not anticipating this, for expecting so much more than I should have, for so easily casting my pearls before swine.

Perhaps she didn't actually see me, or my life, the way I described it above. Maybe that would also be expecting too much. You know, I've had the opposite reaction the past few years. I think that behavior peaked right around the time of the SitC movies, when that 'culture' had filtered down to every small city around.

There are still decent uncorrupted women out there. What the passage above outlined for me is that when it comes to women, men often mistake a tranquil beauty for having wisdom.
