You can't make up this stuff. We live in times of insanity of ideology.

Quote:The trooper, from the 8th regiment of marine parachutists, is said to be “seriously injured” in hospital after being set upon whilst out jogging alone near his army base.
The alleged attack took place at around 8.40pm yesterday evening in the southern town of Saint Julien du Puy, which lies around 70 miles to the east of Toulouse.
Reports in French media stated that the 30-year-old sergeant said he was punched and slashed several times with a knife, sustaining a serious wound to his thigh.
The soldier has reportedly told police that the men shouted at him that the attack was in revenge for France's airstrikes against ISIS in Syria.

It should read: sentenced to two years and 6 months in a comfortable first world european prison with 3 square meals a day, 3 star hotel amenities, and plenty of compatriots to pass the time with. Despite the prison walls his time will be served in a safe environment that has a superior standard of living compared with the shithole dirt floor and meager shanty he fled from in his war torn child raping degenerate country.

This article is from October 2015. Finance Minister Schäuble said, it will never happen.
Now guess what:

That the German retirement system is at the collapse is nothing new, reforms are in need since 10 or 15 years and nothing did happen. Now with millions of skilled workers where about 90 % will live of social welfare for the next 10 to 15 years, the situation don't get better.
Say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here!

You can talk ideology all day but when it comes down to it people usually vote their wallets. If Germany actually begins to face some cold hard economic reality the gloves will come off quickly.
Let it go the way of Sweden - we all realize that debate, logical argument, and even soft resistance won't aid our cause. But as the saying goes - bullshit talks - money walks.
BTW, one more thing that may help you guys understand the strange mentality of the average German. That article has over 1000 comments and probably read around 300 of them. They are very reflective of the type of rationalization I observed back when living in Germany. I'm seeing a ton of hypothetical scenarios and in particular endless debates about minute details concerning German retirement benefits. It goes on and on and on and it feels like people are more concerned about saying something smart or proving a particular point than to actually assess the root cause of why they are fucking running out of money and won't be able to retire until they're basically ready to fall into their graves. I saw but one comment mentioning the flood of migrants that's been streaming into the country - that's after perusing literally hundreds. And that - may I point out - is in one of the more conservative online newspapers - we're not talking Bild or Spiegel here.
Germans - very detail oriented and intelligent people. But unable to point out the fucking elephant stomping around in the room breaking all the China. Instead they're debating whether the sofa was in the wrong spot or if the door knob should have been oiled.
Parzival - can you confirm my impressions? What is it with all the mental masturbation?

It lead to a system where everything works and creates almost perfection. But it lacks a relaxing attitude. This attitude give stress to all parts of life to most Germans.

Merkel’s selfie with a refugee in September was this iconic image of Germany’s openness, so this was our starting point for the pavilion,” said Peter Cachola Schmal, the director of the German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt, which was commissioned by the German Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety to curate the exhibition.
...
“It’s an illustration of open borders, but it’s also about the changing of German society,” Oliver Elser, a curator at the museum, said at a preview last month in Frankfurt.
...
This call for unorthodox solutions continues throughout the exhibition. Building codes and construction regulations, the curators argue, should not necessarily delay housing solutions for migrants. They call on the government to repeal Germany’s contentious “Residenzpflicht,” or residency requirement, which limits asylum seekers’ freedom of movement while their applications are pending.
...
The structure has provoked varied artistic reactions over the years. Perhaps the most drastic intervention took place at the 1993 Art Biennale, when Hans Haacke hung a photo of Hitler and shattered the building’s marble floor plates, leaving them as rubble to be walked over by visitors and winning in the process the Golden Lion, the art biennale’s top award. In the refugee crisis and ensuing public discourse, the curators saw an opportunity to make a more permanent alteration to the structure. (The Venice authorities required them to close the openings with bricks after the show, but they are hopeful that future curators will reopen then.)
“It’s the gesture of opening, and also of not really being able to close it up again,” Mr. Elser said. “For the people who arrive,” he added, “their new Heimat might be Germany, but at the same time, they are changing Germany.”
...
In February, Hornbach, a home-improvement chain, expressed reservations about their involvement in the project.
“They were saying, ‘What happens if the politics change and we are on the wrong side?’” Mr. Schmal said. But Hornbach ultimately signed on as a sponsor, wrapping the pavilion in posters bearing pro-diversity messages that also served as a way to shield the alterations from the public eye.
“We want to present another picture of Germany,” Mr. Elser said. “The country’s changing, the society’s changing, and that’s exactly what we’re trying to express here.”
