No amount of EU money or being tied to the Euro can change a country fast enough to have its monetary policy aligned with Germany.

Same here in Australia. Many of these doctors and engineers do nothing but work at unskilled jobs (taxis, cleaners etc) in the host country while braindraining their countries of origin.

I've long suspected that the education requirement for immigration into western first world countries is nothing more than a politically correct IQ test trying to screen for those most likely to have the capacity to integrate. Immigration departments know that the stupid will be unable to adapt and try to screen it out. At least they do in places like Australia and Canada if the true believer leftists are kept out of power.

They never really expect these first generation migrants to work in their areas of expertise. They just want to make sure that the second generation children are intelligent enough to be a boon to the economy.

Unfortunately there is a limit to how likely group intelligence is going to aid in integration in subsequent generations. Foreign cultures create ghettos and microcosms within host countries if allowed to reach a certain size. No matter how smart immigrants are they will slack off on language learning and cultural integration if they can just live within their ghetto communities.

You can look at western travellers and expats as an example. A lot of them are highly educated and earning high salaries in non-western nations but have no desire to fit in.

At best the more intelligent subcultures keep their heads down, abide by the law and contribute to the economy, but they're hardly going to be out there on mass sharing bbqs and drinking beer with the indigenous people on the national holidays.

Italy, Greece, and Spain consistently rank in the bottom of EU countries on quality of students - this is far more important than hours worked.

Why does Shanghai China get its own metric for the PISA scores? Giving it such is not a fair comparison unless we are also going to give a place like Hamburg, Germany its own metric that also defacto excludes many of the southerners, lower class immigrants, and the rural blue collar population.

This defacto filter of lower IQ population contingents is also likely in play in the Singapore and Hong Kong metrics. Larger nations (and especially those with heterogeneous populations) are mostly never going to compare well to the score of most first-world city-states, or competitive world-class cities that do not subsidize large poor populations to live there, and especially not those with low blue collar immigrant populations. Giving a score to Singapore is understandable, but the China scores should include more of the nation before China spikes the football on this particular measurement.

In contrast, I'd be surprised if Japan didn't score where it does. Japan is wholly impressive.

Other surprises / not surprises (if you know what you are looking at) are the scores of Finland and Estonia. Good for them, and one wonders what is keeping those nations back, in terms of economic constraints, in terms of their GDP falling short of the intellectual potential of their populations.

The fact is this, the EU currency is rigged to make the Deutschmark stronger and it undermines other countries who do not have the economic power to compete. Why did these countries join up if they were so all-powerful GDP-wise.

I don't see the USA joining with Canada in a single currency pegged to the US federal reserve and those two countries have more in common than EU countries ever will.

Nowhere have I said I support the EU or anything of the sort, I've said it's a terrible idea several times and blamed it for most current problems afflicting Europe at the moment. It's actually the opposite.

The DM would be way too strong to keep German exports as high as they are.

(Nothing fundamentally has changed in Greece/Spain etc since the Euro but look at the number of high end German cars on the road!).

I notice a slight increase in diversity each time, but nothing too crazy.
Good to see the Swiss army are not going to let their country get overrun like some other European countries.
I hope they keep to their word now and ensure the invaders are repelled.
The danger is of course that if they have to use force at times to stop them, the cucked media and women and feminine men, will be outraged and demand they stop, that's where they have to hold firm, ignore the r-selected weaklings and do what's in the best interests of Europeans and not the invading hordes.
I really hope for Switzerland's sake that the army have the moral courage and spine required to face down the cucks on this one, or the beautiful land of CH will face gradual ruination.

The German chancellor insisted her government’s decision did not amount to a verdict on whether Jan Böhmermann was guilty or not, but should be understood as a reaffirmation of the judiciary’s independence.

“In a constitutional democracy, weighing up personal rights against freedom of the press and freedom of expression is not a matter for governments, but for public prosecutors and courts,” Merkel said in a press conference on Friday.

The chancellor expressed “grave concerns” about the prosecution of individual journalists in Turkey, as well as growing limitations to the right to protest, but emphasised Germany’s close diplomatic ties with the country.

Merkel was left with the final decision on whether Germany’s state prosecutor should start proceedings against Böhmermann after Erdoğan requested the comedian be prosecuted.

Under an obscure section of Germany’s criminal code, prosecution for insults against organs or representatives of foreign states requires both a notification from the offended party and an authorisation from the government.

Merkel and other ministers confirmed reports that there had been disagreements on how to handle the Böhmermann affair between ministers within her coalition government.

The foreign minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, said Social Democrat ministers, including himself and the justice minister Heiko Maas, had been overruled by Merkel in allowing the prosecution to proceed. “It is our view that the prosecution should not have been authorised,” Steinmeier said. “Freedom of the press, freedom of expression and artistic freedom are the highest goods requiring protection in our constitution.”

“I consider this to be the wrong decision,” said Thomas Oppermann, leader of the Social Democratic party’s parliamentary faction. “Prosecuting satire on the basis of a lèse-majesté law is not appropriate to the modern age.”

The little-used paragraph of the German legal code that had allowed the Turkish president to request the prosecution is likely to be scrapped in the aftermath of the affair. Merkel said on Friday that she considered the law unnecessary, and that legal steps would be taken towards deleting it from the penal code within the next two years.

Under section 103 of the criminal code, insults against organs or representatives of foreign states are punishable with up to three years in prison, or three months to five years if a court judges the insult to be slanderous.

Several opposition parties, including the Greens and Alternative für Deutschland, had called for the law to be scrapped in the wake of the scandal.

The poem was read in a short clip on a late-night programme screened on the German state broadcaster ZDF at the end of last month. Böhmermann sat in front of a Turkish flag beneath a small, framed portrait of Erdoğan, reading out a poem that accused the Turkish president of, among other things, “repressing minorities, kicking Kurds and slapping Christians”.

The scene was broadcast shortly after it emerged that Turkey had demanded the deletion of a satirical song from a German comedy show, extra3, and Böhmermann’s poem was deliberately framed as a test of the boundaries of satire.

Throughout his reading, the comedian is advised by another comedian impersonating a media lawyer, who tells him this poem is precisely the sort of thing that does not qualify as satire and is therefore illegal.

Defenders of Merkel’s decision argue that those who criticise Turkey’s president for interfering with the judiciary cannot complain about the German leader leaving the matter for her country’s public prosecutor to judge.

“Satire can get away with everything, but not everything qualifies as satire,” said Volker Kauder, the CDU’s parliamentary faction leader. “In a constitutional democracy, it is up to the courts to decide where the boundaries lie. That’s why the government has done the right thing.”

For Merkel’s critics, the affair exposes the extent to which the recently agreed refugee deal between Turkey and the EU has made the chancellor reliant on the whims of Turkey’s strongman leader. Merkel was one of the main drivers of the agreement, under which migrants arriving in Greece are now expected to be sent back to Turkey if they do not apply for asylum or their claim is rejected.

“Merkel is kowtowing to Turkey’s despot Erdoğan and sacrifices freedom of the German press,” said Sahra Wagenknecht, a senior politician for the German Left party.

The chairman of the Turkish Community in Germany, Gökay Sofuoglu, also criticised the German government’s decision, saying: “I would have wished the chancellor had not allowed the trial to go ahead.” Erdoğan had also filed a personal lawsuit against Böhmermann, and Sofuoglu said Merkel should have waited for the outcome of that trial first.

A demonstration in front of the Turkish embassy in Berlin, scheduled for Friday afternoon, has been banned by Berlin police. Activists had announced that they were planning to read out Böhmermann’s poem in front of the embassy.

Böhmermann himself has not commented on the affair since the programme was aired last Thursday. Cologne authorities have confirmed that the comedian and his family are under police protection.

Of course, the military in Switzerland is regarded as a bit of a joke and is mostly staffed by kids doing their national service. That said, I think they are up there will the US on military spend per capita so they've probably got some kit.

From what I've seen they are pretty protective of their county. In the course of my work, I've seen the sheer amount of Eastern Europeans, Serbs etc and lately so many Portuguese that have arrived here because their own countries are in the toilet. It has a bastardising effect on the language and local culture.

We've not yet had the massive diversity that some of the other parts of Europe will have but it's coming, especially with the amount liberals and sjws that inhabit the French Swiss part. there is greater population in the Swiss German part and I think they tend more towards nationalism so the voting tends to be more I are looking for now. My gf is right in with the UN set that inhabits the lake Geneva area and you wouldn't believe the fucking dreamy opinions that some of these people have on the 'refugees'.

On a slightly different note, I was recently in the south of France revisiting some beautiful old towns that I had seen about 10-15 years previously, places like Adge and the beaches around there. The second time I was there the change to a mostly North African demographic was shocking. I didn't even feel like I was in France any more. Might as well give up calling the south of France part of France any more given the enrichment that has gone on their. That's what really opened my eyes to what is going on.

Looking at this scene, there can be no reasonable answer.

Seeking 'why' seeks to define this as reasonable and even isolated behavior, when the reality is that individuals who behave this way will do so in small and large ways their entire lives. I've seen no better evidence as to why they, as a large group, should not be let into Europe. Terrorism, while all the evidence a reasonable person needs to exclude them, is readily excused away in the public sphere as isolated behavior of extremist soldiers. The behavior on this film can not be explained away in the context of the large group.

Are they rioting? Are they trying to be intimidating? Are they having some teenage rebellion moment?

It looks like they are picking up chairs etc and throwing them back and forth.
