We also talked about culture and the creeping influence of Islam. My rebuttals are below his points, and at some point we ended up talking at each other than to each other.

Wanted to hear what you guys thought of the berncuck's points:

ECONOMICS:
  • I think you agree with me that computer science is increasingly important for people to know. So people need college degrees to get better jobs to help America compete in an increasingly technological society and world. Low end jobs like those at McDonalds' are eventually going to be automated anyways.
What makes you think people are going into college for something useful? Just because I want to study feminist dance psychotherapy doesn't mean that taxpayers should pay money for my academically-authorized navel gazing.
  • "But if you have a secretary position, and you're choosing between someone with a college degree or without, you're going to choose the one with a college degree."
Ever hear of this thing called "overqualified?" Some jobs don't need a four year study of medieval French poetry to do well. Why do you think you NEED a college degree to succeed and contribute?

ISLAM:
  • "No, 'kafir' is supposed to mean 'one of Muslim heritage who rejects Islam.' The Koran has never been translated into other languages because Islam holds that you can't let other people dictate the tenets of your religion."
Okay bernieboi, how then am I supposed to understand Islam? We're going to go along with "Islam is a religion of peace" while actions in Europe indicate otherwise? Grow up and learn to pay attention to people's actions rather than their words.
  • "But ISIS, they're not true Muslims!"
No True Scotsman Fallacy. Tell that to a member of ISIS and see what he thinks. He probably thinks that you're not the true Muslim, which would be correct.

Surprised to learn that he smells bad? Probably not.

The "ISIS are not true Muslims" thing needs to go. I have not read the five (I believe) canonical texts of Islam cover to cover but I've read a good amount of them (the Koran and Hadith being the most important.) My limited understanding of Islam probably puts me in the top 5% of the population, Muslims included. Most just take the establishments word for it.

ISIS are the most " pious" Muslims. If you take the teachings of the Koran and follow Mohammed's example as it is laid out in the other texts you get radical Islamic terrorism. Hell, take out the radical part. They're following Mohammed's orders. The word radical is another layer of deception.

Free College only makes sense if it actually contributes value to U.S. society in the form of increased innovation or adds to the labor pool in some meaningful way.

U.S. society needs less "journalists", gender trans race pillowbiter studies, and various other basketweaving degrees.

As it stands now free college would just be an excuse for people to stay in school forever and get 10 degrees and also a convenient SJW indoctrination center for feeble minds.

Just curious what you think of classical humanities? Plato, Aristotle, Thucydides, Cicero, Virgil, The Bible, Hobbes, Locke, Voltaire, Machiavelli, Galileo, Shakespeare, Adam Smith, The Federalist Papers, Declaration of Independence, Abraham Lincoln, etc...

Universities have historically been the stewards of western culture, particularly philosophy and political theory. They are being undermined by SJWs yes. But I wonder if that's partly because the rest of us non-SJWs are giving up on classical education in favor of job training.

RE: Why are people on this forum so anti-Bernie Sanders?
The issue with free college is that there needs to be an increase in number of jobs that require a college education. Allow me this extreme example, if everyone student graduated with a STEM degree, some of them are still going to be working at McDonald's. If anything, the bitterness in the college grads would rise (hard to believe) as they would be way overqualified for the jobs they could get without a college degree. Granted the degree was free (I think Sander's plan is free tuition but not housing, etc.), but with it comes these higher expectations. There is already anger form some college grads that they have debts, no house, car, etc. Now a kid coming out a few years later has tuition paid for and is competing for the same job (based on the assumption that recent college grads don't add to their skills because they get menial jobs). But the free tuition kid can work for less if he wanted because he doesn't have a debt burden.

So while people have commented in the past that you now need a master's degree to really stand out. But with Sander's plan it becomes like another 4 years of highschool. Granted, the elite college grads will still stand out, but they were always going to be because they did well in school and scored well in exams.

Sanders supporters just want to reduce some of the pain in there lives, I get it. It makes sense, but it is only short sighted. They can't see the problems down the road. They want to vote for the guy that promises them everything for free and legalizes marijuana.

If I ran for president and promised that every guy could get laid as much as he wants, I bet I would get some votes. They might tell their feminist friends, "I would never vote samsamsam," but in the ballot booth, I bet I get a bunch.

The classics are important and it should be emphasized prior to university to begin with. High school is where this type of reading and critical thinking should begin. However that sort of education is eroded every year in favor of nonsense curriculum and pop academia.

Literary tradition is such now that many millenials can barely piece together coherent thoughts and complete sentences without text speak. It's not just a change in the vernacular but critical thinking ability seems to be worse now as well.

Quote:Universities have historically been the stewards of western culture, particularly philosophy and political theory. They are being undermined by SJWs yes. But I wonder if that's partly because the rest of us non-SJWs are giving up on classical education in favor of job training.

Even back in the day it seemed the people who were well educated in classical humanities were mostly from the genteel class. I'm sure with more people enrolled in college now than ever before that it's definitely not good if people don't study the classics at all. The problem is that universities have strayed far from practical public discourse into the realm of dogma and indoctrination.

I'm not sure if having more people study the classics would help. You need people who are willing to engage in practical debate and policy changes in these universities which means actively challenging the far left SJW ivory tower academics who have placed a stranglehold over U.S. education.

This is very powerfully true. I think Obama proved the ship has sailed in his 2012 campaign. We have lost our moral compass so much in the west that low life people like Obama or Justin Trudeau can just promise the dregs of society free handouts, paint the other side as "bad guys" with bald faced lies, and then go out there and deliver on NONE of it, and still win.

Obama winning in 2008 didn't surprise me at all. But him winning in 2012 was a huge shift. Obama promised the dregs of society tons of freebies and on top of it promised to go after the Wall Street fat cats and the lobbies in DC. I remember thinking "this guy is full of shit, but if he delivers on just 10% of his promises, he might not be all that bad". He delivered on 0%. The dregs of society are even worse off. There is no "free" healthcare, in fact healthcare costs continued to go up. The Wall Street fat cats got away scot free and even got paid for it and the lobbies are stronger than ever.

It doesn't matter, Obama would probably win if he could win in 2016. The number of ugly/single women dependent on welfare and low self esteem men with no fight in them seems to out number the people who simply want to work hard and have a peaceful and happy life.

Sanders would be very tough to beat in the general election.

Many Americans haven't been to Cuba nor to Venezuela. They have no clue what 100% socialism looks like. For example, some doctors in America make $300k, $500k per year. Once Bernie is elected and they see their taxes increase because of mostly handouts they aren't gonna be working that hard. They'll put in less hours and the USA will probably have to import doctors on hb1 visas. There are many more examples.

I like his universal health care plan because too many insurance companies have left need worthy people with no coverage. Other than that, it's not pretty.

Newbie here.

I agree. I recently went to Argentina and I recall that Argentinians having free college as well. People in that country were complaining that there just wasn't enough jobs for all those graduates. Lots of taxi drivers in Buenos Aires had college degrees, and many empanada sellers did as well. Essentially you had a very educated population but nothing to show for it.

So I agree. Free college doesn't work. Its all about supply and demand. It will never work in the U.S. All you will have are people in Mickey Dees with PhD's.

Conversely, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton launched her candidacy with a detailed and powerful indictment of systemic racism.

Despite Sanders’s claim to truthfulness, both he and Clinton currently have a nearly 30-percent false-leaning rate of speech, according to Politifact. In short, they’re both just being politicians. Although, it’s crucial to mention that both Democratic candidates far outpace the Republican frontrunners on the truth metric. But this goes to show Sanders’s claim to purity is a well-constructed farce.

The Black Lives Matter movement pretty much wants reparations for Blacks. It doesn't matter what Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton says about systematic and institutionalized racism, they want reparations period.

I know this because I hung around many of these people and I've heard many of them say that if neither candidate is willing to talk about giving reparations to Blacks they aren't voting period.

This article is a great example, from the most ultra leftist organization there is.

http://melanoidnation.org/why-black-peop...-election/

Quote:Why Black People Should Not Vote In The 2016 Presidential Election

By Tariq Nasheed

It’s Presidential election season, and like clockwork, the Democratic candidates are pandering for the Black vote with the same empty rhetoric that we hear every four years.

Hillary Clinton is on the campaign trail doing the latest negro dances like the Whip and the Nae Nae. And Bernie Sanders is surrounding himself with groups of Black people without actually committing to doing anything specific for Black Americans.

It’s no secret that many Black Americans are disheartened by president Barack Obama’s hateful neglect of the issues plaguing Black society. Consequently, this has cause many Black people to be disheartened by the election process in general.

History has shown, when people are not INTERESTED IN participating in the election process, this is a sign of potential rebellion. Centuries ago in Europe, rulers were either born into political positions or appointed by small organizations into rulership. The general public did not elect the kings and queens. And whenever the general public became dissatisfied with their rulers, they simply rebelled. And oftentimes, these rebellions were violent.

When the United States was formed, the power elite wanted to prevent the “storming of the castle” mindset that could potentially overthrow the appointed leadership. So the general public was allowed to PARTICIPATE in an election process to give the impression that the popular vote elected a President into leadership.

So NOW, when people became dissatisfied with their leadership, they were now told that they shouldn’t be too upset because they were the ones who chose the leaders. The reality is, Presidents are SELECTED by the Electoral College, and not by the popular vote. But it is still imperative for the general public to participate in the process, so they will not rebel against the people put into office.

In 2008 and 2012, President Obama received around 90% of the Black vote. And since he has been in office, there has been a government backed, and white supremacy fueled wave of violence and terror reaped upon Black Americans that has captured the world’s attention. And Obama, as well as the other Democrats and Republicans, have CONTINUED the political tradition of benign neglect when it comes to addressing the desperate needs of Black society.

Now its election time. The GOP frontrunner Donald Trump-whose extreme rhetoric has galvanized the white supremacist crowd- is being heavily PROMOTED by media to scare Black voters into PARTICIPATINGin the elections. Now Black voters feel that they have to make a choice between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders: two candidates who have not committed to actually doing anything specific for Black people. And Black people feel that they have to vote for the lesser of two evils because they are afraid of what will happen if Trump got into office.

The reality is, Black people should not vote for any of these Democratic or Republican frontrunners. If we are honest with ourselves, exactly how much worse would it be for Black society if Trump was elected? We have been PROGRAMED into believing that the Democrats have treated Black society better than the Republicans. And both parties are dominated by white supremacy, and they have both maintained systematic white supremacy over Black people collectively.

When Bill Clinton was in the White House, Bill Clinton-with the full support and backing of Hillary, implemented some of the worst crime laws that targeted Black people and created a wave of extreme mass incarceration that is still plaguing Black Americans today. Barack Obama has sat in the White House and watched unarmed Black men, women, and children get slaughtered by race soldiers who have infiltrated law enforcement. And not only has he not lifted a finger to do anything to thwart or ADDRESS this, he called Black people “thugs”, for reacting to this wave of racial violence out of desperation and abandonment.

Black people need to understand that the Republicans and the Democrats and two faces on the same coin. Lets not forget:

*Ferguson prosecutor Bob McCulloch who allowed Mike brown to be killed with impunity was a Democrat

*Ohio prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty who allowed 12 year old Melanoid child Tamir Rice to be killed with impunity was a Democrat

*Chicago prosecutor Anita Alvarez, who has repeatedly PROTECTED race soldiers who kill Black people with impunity, was a Democrat

With all of these racial injustices under the watch of the Democrats, Black people still feel that there should be this blind allegiance to whatever Democratic candidate thats pushed in front of us.

And I say its time we say no..

In this 2016 presidential election, Black people should not vote at all. Because Black people are the only group of people who will give away their vote without requiring anything in return. Black people simply vote out of “tradition”. This is why candidates like Bernie Sanders will surround himself Black Civil Rights figures. because when this generation of Black people see Sanders with a group of people who “fought for the right to vote”, on a subconscious level, many of us feel an obligation to carry on this tradition.

But we need to understand when certain traditions are no longer practical and they actually work against us. Black people have been systematically mistreated in this country with the full backing and support of the government, non-stop for centuries. We have been enslaved, Jim Crowed, lynched, impoverished, miseducated, poisoned, mass incarcerated, etc, based on race. And these actions have been REFINED so that they are still carried out in more covert ways today. And Black people need resources specifically allocated towards us, to correct these white supremacist actions that have placed us in this position collectively. And voting for people who will not do anything to address these issues is complete insanity.

Hillary Clinton and her husband placed masses of Black men in the NEW slave plantations, which is the prison industrial complex. Many people don’t know that it is mandatory for prisoners TO WORK in federal prisons. And the products created from this prison slave labor is sold on the open market. This is no different from antebellum slavery that occurred on the Southern plantations. So many Black people are weary about supporting Hilary in the elections.

But many Black people are gravitating toward Bernie Sanders. Yet when Sanders is asked about reparations, he has repeatedly shot that idea down. He has claimed that “reparations would be divisive”. Yet other specific groups have received monetary and tangible resources from the government.

*It wasn’t “divisive” when Japanese Americans received reparations from being placed in internment camps in the US

*It wasn’t “divisive” when Jewish families got PAYMENTS for the holocaust from the US

*It’s not “divisive” when Native American groups get billions of dollars in MONEY and resources from the US

*It’s not “divisive” when Hispanic and gay groups are ADDRESSED and their specific needs are being met

Yet, when Black people who have been specifically disenfranchised, and disempowered by racially based laws and policies in every area of ACTIVITY in our society, ask for the damage from these policies to be corrected, we are told that would be “divisive”.

This is why Black people should not vote for Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. And obviously we should not vote for Trump. What we should do is leverage our vote by withholding our vote. If no candidate will commit to doing something specifically for Black people, then we simply should not vote for them. If Black people choose to vote, they should vote independent. Or Black people should vote in their local election where the popular vote has MORE of an impact.

Bernie Sanders has a tendency of using the “I’m going to help everybody, and Black people are included in that” type of rhetoric. That is not good enough. This is a trick bag that Black people were put in STARTINGin the 1960’s with the whole “minority” label. official pretend to do things for Black people by giving things to “minorities”. But minority is such a broad term, Black people are never given the proper resources thats needed because the resources are given to “minorities” like white women, Asians, white Hispanics, white gays, white handicap, etc, first.

Bernie Sanders is currently trying to appeal to the Black population by stating how he “marched with Dr. Martin Luther King”. The thing is, Dr. King specifically stated he wanted reparations for Black Americans because we deserved it. So if Sanders is GOING to invoke the name of Dr. King yet dismiss Dr. King’s wishes for Black people, is disrespectful. And if Sanders is not willing to commit to allocating resources specifically to Black people-who deserve resources more than any group, then he should not GET the Black vote.

As famed ECONOMIST Dr. Claud Anderson has stated, Black people do not need anymore rights..We need resources. And if Black people SUPPORTthe Don’t Vote Campaign (by using the hashtag #dontvote) we can withhold our vote and leverage it to make politicians WORK for our support.

Because supporting people without requiring anything in return is the epitome of the slave mentality.

I'm not sure how much of the Black community believes this, but I suspect a high number of them do.

RE: Why are people on this forum so anti-Bernie Sanders?
Of course, the extra irony is that they wouldn't be satisfied even if they got reparations. They'd just spend them on bullshit, have even higher single motherhood rates (because who needs a man when you have free money), end up in prison even more and so on. The hispanic, gay and native american populations that the author lists are all great examples of free shit and diplomatic immunity feeding the monster. The gay lobby just got gay marriage and is now even more unsatisfied and aggressive than it had been before.

All of this can be taught in a well designed high school curricula. There is no reason we need people to go to another 4 years of "school" beyond specialization training for medicine, engineering, and other advanced fields.

Universities have never been stewards of anything other than regurgitation and indoctrination when it comes to the status quo du jure.

Wait, so the Millennial Black Panthers are telling blacks to stay away and not vote at all?

Sounds good to me. Clinton is pulling in the black voters, much more than Sanders did. One black vote not given to Clinton is like two votes for Trump - a vote that's not going to her, and a vote that's not going anywhere else.

This is a historical trend though. Blacks overwhelmingly have voted Democrat for decades now. It's because almost the entire black identity politics power base is rooted in the Democratic party. It will take much more than Sanders and his free shit and kumbaya speeches to overcome that.

He basically needs to appeal to the black political powerbrokers out there and that probably involves a lot of envelopes stuffed with cash being pushed under various tables.

I just tried looking but couldn't find anything.

I would be interested in seeing a chart of the voting population by age.

I imagine if the 18-30 age group is bigger than the 50-70, then you are right. I imagine the 31-49 may split sort of evenly.

I just remembered that KFC's old man mascot is Colonel Sanders.
Maybe that's why these Berniepeople are usually sloppy, unkempt, overweight fucks.

RE: Why are people on this forum so anti-Bernie Sanders?
When pressed for specifics on how Sanders would break up the big banks, he was pretty much at a loss for words. This is what happens when the dog catches the car

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-..._tw-bottom

This New York Daily News interview was pretty close to a disaster for Bernie Sanders

http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/trans...-1.2588306

Bernie Sanders sat down with the New York Daily News editorial board on Monday, seeking their endorsement in the upcoming April 19 Empire State primary. It did not go well for the senator from Vermont.

Time and again, when pressed to get beyond his rhetoric on the evils of corporate America and Wall Street, Sanders struggled. Often mightily. (The Daily News published the full transcript of the interview so you can check it out for yourself.)

A few examples make the point.

Here’s an exchange between the editorial board and Sanders on how, specifically, he would break up the biggest banks in the country:

Daily News: And then, you further said that you expect to break them up within the first year of your administration. What authority do you have to do that? And how would that work? How would you break up JPMorgan Chase?

Sanders: Well, by the way, the idea of breaking up these banks is not an original idea. It’s an idea that some conservatives have also agreed to.

You’ve got head of, I think it’s, the Kansas City Fed, some pretty conservative guys, who understands. Let’s talk about the merit of the issue, and then talk about how we get there. ...

Daily News: Okay. Well, let’s assume that you’re correct on that point. How do you go about doing it?

Sanders: How you go about doing it is having legislation passed, or giving the authority to the secretary of treasury to determine, under Dodd-Frank, that these banks are a danger to the economy over the problem of too-big-to-fail.

Daily News: But do you think that the Fed, now, has that authority?

Sanders: Well, I don’t know if the Fed has it. But I think the administration can have it.

For Sanders’s critics — including Hillary Clinton — the Daily News interview is the “ah ha!” moment that they have been insisting will come for Sanders, a time when his pie-in-the-sky proposals are closely examined and found wanting. Sure, free college tuition sounds good, but how, exactly, do you pay for it? And, yes, breaking up the biggest banks seems appealing — particularly if you saw “The Big Short” — but (a) can you actually do it? and (b) what does it mean for all the people those banks employ?

A large part of Sanders’s appeal to the throngs who back him is his insistence that we are in need of a political revolution. And, for those people, the Daily News interview will be much ado about nothing. But what the interview exposes is that once the revolution happens there will be lots of loose ends to tie up. Loose ends that Sanders either hasn’t — or doesn’t want to — grappled with.

Its hip and edgy to hate on universities but really this is just a lot of empty bluster and kind of misses my point.

Sure, it's possible to design a curricula but it's a huge fallacy to assume that the reason schools aren't teaching the classics already is a simply matter of curriculum design. The realities of what students are like, what teachers are like, and what distractions are present in our culture all work against your theoretical idea.

Similarly, I didn't say anything like "we need everyone to go to another 4 years of school." I'm not saying that we should naively send kids off to school with the idea that they can study the classics and then send the bill to the taxpayer. Absolutely not. I am suggesting we think twice about throwing out the baby with the bath water. I'm suggesting that just because Universities are being co-opted by feminists and corrupted by sick ideological identity politics, that they are not entirely a lost cause.

Very few cultural institutions in the United States have had the luxury of taking the kind of stable, long-term outlook Universities have enjoyed. They have amassed a wealth of knowledge in their libraries and still retain many of the most learned and sharpest minds in their fields. You can't replicate that at the high school level.

Quote:Daily News: With a couple of those points in mind, there's a lot of speculation that if she were to win the nomination, would your followers and your supporters vote for her? Or would their absence in the voting in November help whomever the Republican nominee is? Whether it's Trump or Cruz.

With that in mind, and this might be putting the cart ahead of the horse a little bit, would you ever consider running as her vice-president?

Sanders: Well, I think you have put the cart ahead of the horse on that one. We're in this race to win. We think we’ve got a shot to win. And that's what we're focusing on right now.

There are millions of people. I am very grateful millions of people are supporting me. How they will vote, I don't know.

Daily News: But are you concerned? Not to interrupt you, about the specter of there not being enough support rallying around her from your camp?

Sanders: What I am concerned about, what I think would be a disaster for the United States of America, is to see a Donald Trump or some right wing Republican become President of the United States. I will do everything I can to prevent that from happening.

Yes... clearly fighting the guy who shares most of your campaign platform is the biggest issue right now.

What a despicable cuck.
