In conservative South Korea, a new generation of women is shunning, or indefinitely delaying, marriage, in favour of advanced academic degrees and high-paying jobs.
But, there's one element of the wedding ritual they're not willing to forego – even though they remain single. The extravagant photo shoot.
The time-honoured tradition, usually done before the wedding and set against a variety of backdrops and with a few changes of clothes, typically costs a couple anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000.

I will never understand Japan and South Korea... no feminism at all, yet plenty of degeneracy and no future. It's like nothing can go well anywhere!

The degeneracy just manifests itself in different ways. In Japan they just casually have porn-filled jerk-off cubicles for men, right on main streets, as though that's normal. They give them an innocuous name -- "DVD rooms". I asked two Japanese woman once why they think Japan's birthrate was so low. They replied "hmm, I think it's because the men don't make enough money".

Hmm, not adding up somehow! Never let the facts get in the way of expressing your opinion.

I think one aspect is just that mankind isn't used to being so rich. Human beings aren't genetically prepared for it; for the entirely of mankind most people have been dirt poor. Perhaps genes have to catch up, and groups of people will eventually emerge who can stay rich and conservative at the same time. That or we'll collapse back into "brutish and short" again.

Japan is the world's creepy homeschool kid. He got into the real world and couldn't handle it so he went a little nuts and started watching octopus porn and buying used panties out of vending machines.

We all laugh nervously and say "Oh, that's just Japan being Japan..." But at best it's mild schizophrenia.

That's why we don't give him any sharp objects or weapons to play with.

Isn't this the same country where they have girl-only bars where they pay men just to sit and talk with them without any kind of sexual advances or implications? Maybe Japan is the future of the West.

They have those bars all over East Asia. My landlord used to take me to one every time I renewed the rental contract. I can't remember exactly how much he would pay, but I remember it seemed a extremely pricey for two women in their forties to sit with us and refill our drinks.

In many ways feminism is more effect than cause; it seems to be global right now, or at least it's happening in every country that's become synchronized to the West's "Civilizational Clock". Western feminism is just the brassy mouth-words of women who have nothing to say but can't shut up, it comes after their behaviour (birth control, carousel, meaningless career, collection of cats).

Whatever's coming is going to be global in nature too.
