^ Finland joined the EU in 1995 at the same time as Sweden. Finland also have a generous set of services to offer for refugees.

These refugees are just traveling through Sweden as a transit country. Maybe they already tried their luck in Sweden but got rejected and hence they are heading to Finland.

Two other key things why Finland stands out from rest of Europe in this crisis.

1. It's furthest away from the epicenter of the crisis (Syria). Takes the longest time to reach
We have a small amount of immigrants compared to other EU countries.

2. Finland is the final frontier and the last destination for the refugees.
EU ends here. There are no more borders to walk over.

In the east is Russia. There is already a 1000km fence standing under surveilence from both Finns and Russians.

It's a teasing thought to image what would happen if the refugee stream would start heading towards Russia, and how Putin would react.

But I guess that scenario is super unlikely.
