Especially outside of America.

You should start caring about the UFC if you like MMA... thats all there is. Pride was awesome don't get me wrong, but its done. I doubt all true MMA fans dont care about the UFC.. its where the best fighters in the world fight. Period, I dont care what country or planet you are from.

I respect your opinion that Rampage was a better fighter then Chuck, thats fine everyone has their favorites for various reasons... but calling him a homo or asking if he was gay is offensive.

You get me wrong. I care about the UFC; just nobody else does!

RE: Any of you guys MMA fans?
So I was watching a reun of UFC 16 on tv and this Ben Saunders guy was fighting Brandon Wolff. I could only find this, I tried to set it at the 2:35 mark, if it doesn't show just start it at 2:35. The guy couldn't escape the clench and the barrage of knees. The clip is short, there were many more knees thrown than those shown. His knees were flying fast like a fucking dance move! Holy fuck that looked bad. How was he supposed to get out? Grab a leg, uppercut?

The dark arts of the Muay Thai clinch! It's like the front row of a Rugby Union scrum; unless you've been there nobody quite knows what the fuck goes on at its heart!

The first time I seriously trained in Thailand I had 1-on-1 lessons with the head coach t the camp every day, a guy with about 300 fights under his belt or something crazy. He was literally half my weight and about 8 inches shorter.

I thought I knew what I was doing in the clinch...this little dude tossed me about like a rag doll and if we had been actually fighting would have probably done similar to the guy in the video with his knees.

It took me about a month to figure out what he was doing and after 100 of these private lessons I still couldn't really stop him doing whatever he wanted.

I've seen Thais throw western pro fighters out of the ring during clinch training. It's all about leverage at the end of the day.

My gut feeling is that UFC fighters don't spend much time on clinching anymore; very few of them seem to utilise it and there are times I'm shouting at the TV wondering why they don't throw Thai elbows in positions that a Thaiboxer would from the clinch.

^^Matt brown is a good example of a fighter with a great clinch. Uses alot of elbows and knees with it and destroys his opponents with it

Grab a leg and drive for the takedown, close distance and get double underhooks, throw uppercuts, pummel for a thai clinch of your own...there are a lot of ways to get out, the hardest part is keeping your wits about you while those knees and elbows are coming in.

I think its cool but I don't watch wrestling nor know who CM punk is. I will certainly watch his fights and am curious to see how he transitions from WWE to the UFC though.

I hope Brock Lesnar comes back next year when his WWE contract is up.

Mariusz Pudzianowski vs Bob Sapp

Can't believe I wasn't aware that this dude had moved into MMA...it was some time ago too.

On a broader note, do you guys agree or disagree with the UFC heavyweight weight limit? I'd like to see it scrapped or a Super-Heavy division brought in for the huge guys.

Everyone loves watching big men fight!

I don't know for sure what their reasoning for the weight limit was, something tells me it has to do with guys like Bob Sapp (though not Sapp specifically).

The thing about fighting is that size really does matter, and taken to it's extreme size will make up for a huge lack in skill. Look no further than the early career of Bob Sapp, particularly in kickboxing, where he beat Ernesto Hoost twice. In MMA his fight with Big Nog was a war. This despite a severe lack of skills.

Or that tall Korean guy that fought Fedor and also did some kickboxing as well. I think the UFC wants to avoid the freak show element of the sport, and the upper limit on weight stops less skilled guys that would win fights based on size from getting in.

That said, I think that at this point removing the upper weight limit would be a good idea. At this point, I think most HWs don't even want to be much bigger than 250-265 anyway. Not to mention extreme size comes with a weakness in conditioning, which modern fighters will be sure to capitalize on. I'm not so sure fighters above 265 would really thrive in the UFC if they were allowed in.

There's a good chance that Brock Lesnar is going back to the UFC. It looks like he's losing weight, probably getting ready for the UFC. His contract with the WWE ends in April. Banana

Unlike Brock Lesnar who has a wrestling background, CM Punk don't have any experience in competitive martial art. He won't go in fighting top ranked fighters like Brock did. He will be fighting no name fighters which won't be as interesting.

CM Punk selected to train with Roufusport, the same training camp as Anthony Pettis. I am also interested to see how he transitions from the WWE to UFC.

I can't wait for the Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier fight. Jon Jones annoys me, I hope he gets his ass kick.

I admit that she looks nice on the pic, but this is her weigh in look. In everyday life she looks chunky but still ok, but her attitude is well known to be shit in general, not only against Miesha. She's the definition of hate fuck to meSmile

Over 4 hours left to Cormier vs Jones fight. Will Cormier find a way to neutralize Jones superior reach (and his "accidental" eye pokes)? Both fighters didn't have official fight for over 6 months and both looked very good last time they were in Octagon (Jones vs Teixeira and Cormier vs Dan Henderson).

I hope this fight isn't a letdown. Excited to see Cowboy fight as well. I would like to see DC win but I think Jon Jones is a special talent that will be hard to capitalize mistakes on. Just praying it's not another 70 sec KO a la Dos Santos vs Cain.

RE: Any of you guys MMA fans?
Apparently Jon Jones has been doing some cocaine, Failed a drug test and entered rehab. Who'd of thunk it.

Jones released a statement to Yahoo Sports through his attorney acknowledging his problem.
"With the support of my family, I have entered into a drug treatment facility. I want to apologize to my fiancée, my children, as well as my mother, father, and brothers for the mistake that I made. I also want to apologize to the UFC, my coaches, my sponsors and equally important to my fans. I am taking this treatment program very seriously. Therefore, at this time my family and I would appreciate privacy."

The UFC released the following statement in regards to Jones:
“We support UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones’ decision to enter a drug treatment facility to address his recent issue. While we are disappointed in the failed test, we applaud him for making this decision to enter a drug treatment facility. Jon is a strong, courageous fighter inside the Octagon, and we expect him to fight this issue with the same poise and diligence. We commend him on his decision, and look forward to him emerging from this program a better man as a result.”
