My point was that there are cancer risks with many, many things we do on a daily basis, and we do these things often without a second thought, like eating red meat. HPV is common, yes, but cancer from HPV is still rare in men.

But, of course, just like sex itself, only total abstinence is 100% effective.

I've never understood the std paranoia. Once you've caught an std before I think you worry a lot less about it after. It's not the end of the world. Now that you mention it, if she's got an open sore on her lip/face, yeah, uh, you might want to get someone else to polish your knob unless you want that herpes shit forever. Doesn't go away.

There's a vaccine out there for HPV though - sounds like it'd be a good idea if you want to keep doing what you're doing.

There are two strains of HSV, 1 and 2. HSV-1 is generally associated with the mouth while HSV-2 is generally associated with the genitals. So a girl with open cold sore on mouth is unlikely to transmit it to your dick.

The HSV that matters for STD purposes is 2, a lot of people actually have 1 but are asymptomatic.
