TLDR: growing up in cities is bad for kids, small town people in the west to an extent still retain some of the values that many on here think have disappeared in the west.

I'm glad that I grew up in a small town, it wasn't particularly conservative or religious, although myself and my friends attended Catholic Sunday school and the odd mass, it was our parents and grand parents who were more morally strict and very judgemental. Anyway, this shit just wasn't happening in the mid-late 90s there, if you wanted to get laid (and we did), you HAD to date a girl because the worst thing that could happen for her would be the local gossip about her being a slut. I fucked around with some city girls to get some strange but when I graduated high school, my notch count was a whopping three and looking back that was good but I was a horny 18 year old with hippy-ish parents who didn't give a fuck so I moved into the city and turned into the degenerate I am today.

Many of my female friends who remained in my small town are happily married with kids nearly 20 years later, even one of my best dude friends has a notch count of one, we used to poke fun at him for losing his virginity at 19 haha, his wife and mother or his two kids has a notch count of two. Things haven't changed that much back home afaik, if a woman like my female friends were to fuck around and divorce, they'd probably have to move away and delete all of their social media due to shaming and gossip. A couple of the girls who did move into the city or away and were known to fuck around were welcomed back in the community but they're known as "used goods" and their dating options are limited, no high value local dudes will touch them, many are childless or single moms. My sister is one of them, it's sad.

In the country, all the kids I knew were smoking a ton of weed, drinking, were doing meth, and many of the girls were pregnant by 17 (actually a good thing if its with an older dude looking back at it IMO). Most rural youn men went on to work shit jobs in construction or agriculture and the women work the same shit jobs as then men plus waiting tables. If you look at the stats, rural America is declining in wealth and population (I am bummed out about it). Rural schools are shit compared to their city and suburban counterpart / you want a higher chance of a stupid kid/ send them to rural school with a lack of resources and narrow curriculum. Also, rural areas have shit access to high quality healthcare. Rural kids are disadvantaged as most are socially retarded, know little about the world, and can’t live efficiently in a big cities. Your average middle age dude in NYC that came from midde of Nowhere Tennessee has about an 8 month survival rate in NYC. It seems ideal if you can raise kids in wealthy suburban areas where you can quickly access large cities, and rural areas, to train kids about living in the city, and teach them about rural living (farming, hunting, fishing, forestry, etc.). Its easy to be a big fish in small pond in rural america, at the expense of everything else in your life (sex life/gossipy sausage fest with few women to pick from, cutlure, diet, education, efficiency/logistics). On the flip side, kids that grow up in places like NYC are often idiots about everything in rural America which is annoying as fuck. Kids need to experience a balance of both worlds. The kids in NYC that spend summers out in rural places seem to turn out pretty well, and tend to be more conservative minded.

My particular small town was within commuting distance (30-45 minutes) of a "big city" (population 350K) so we had the best of both worlds: access to decent jobs, health care, education, etc. But still small enough that there were social pressures to conform to the local culture of not being a degenerate scum bag. Drugs weren't too bad then and still aren't, it was weed, beer and mushrooms, there is no meth or bad opiate problem there although cocaine has unfortunately become more common. The remote small towns that are 2+ hours away from the city, especially the "post industrial" ones (steel, coal mining) are suffering some of the same problems as small town rural US, especially opiates but not meth. There was only one teenage pregnancy in my age group and she moved to Toronto to get away from the judgemental folks, a preferred destination of Canadian degenerates, especially the queers lol!

So basically, rural is good but not too rural.

Ok, I follow and liked your post. Now I realize that you were also referring to rural urban comparisons in Canada. That is a whole different ball of wax unless we are comparing Alaska, Maine, or Montana to Canada. 350K could be a bigger town, depending on how many suburbs surround it, or it could be an island surrounded by hundreds of miles of nothing. Halifax, London, and Windsor are "big towns" by your definition and surrounded by nothing. From personal experience, London and Windsor are both relatively easy to obtain anal. As far as meth is concerned, it never hit Canada like it hit the US and Canada has a fraction of the people. According to the Canada government more people in rural areas use Meth, compared to Urban areas (just like the good ole USA).
