She is actually quite pleasant and charming in the 2001 video. She is muscular and athletic, but over the top like she is today. Her voice is deeper and behavior much courser today than in 2001. Male or female most athletes reach their peak in their mid 30s. It's a combination of skill and physical athleticism. While skill can continue to go up there is a certain plateau while physical ability starts to decline for most starting around early 30s. Where these two curves meet is usually the apex of a professional athlete's career. Serena is on the decline. Others will take her spot. Someone who is smarter, faster, stronger, and younger will always eventually come along. Such is life.

Yeah, unfortunately the only thing Japanese about that girl is that her mother is Japanese. She doesn't even speak the language (her mother tongue). She's been living in the US since she was 3 years old (I just looked that up on Wikipedia a few days ago), she's basically American. I find it ridiculous how she can compete as a Japanese player when she can't even give an interview in Japanese.

But that's slightly off topic. I'm glad Osaka is black because otherwise Serena would have played the race card as well.

To be frank I don't see much of a difference to how she had looked before she had her child. It's not like she got fat during/after pregnancy, she's been quite thick for a while. Just look at some of her photos from 2016: (also google tells me her child was born last September, so not a few months but a whole year ago)

Agree and disagree, she has been a gigantic ass-and-thighed monster for many years - and yet someone had a go at me a while back for saying that she wasn't attractive? - ..motherhood was not the catalyst.

I was thinking whilst watching this -- she's rattled in this game and she can't rectify this situation and she can't handle that.

Her appearance matters here because she plays the female gender card but doesn't appear to be a female. If you are born a female and take as much steriods and testosterone as a pro wrestler, are you still female? Is it an accomplishment to win on the ladies' circuit?

People aren't criticizing her because she is fat after having given birth, but rather because she has more muscle than most men. Her before and after pictures are worse than Barry Bonds. She should have the same damn asterisk that he does.

Well dudes, after careful research, I'm taking Serena Williams side.

Here's a minority (arguably) female athlete who's risen to the top of the white man's game. Just like Tiger Woods did.

To be penalized over that thief comment is ridiculous. People get worked up in sports, and talk some trash. Big deal. However, in these reserved and we'll mannered sports, the first chance they get to take you down, they jump all over it. Just like Tiger and his wife cheating. You think other professional golfers didn't cheat on their wives? You think other tennis player didn't say way worse things to the ref? Come on.
