Yeah - not so sure about that - Martin is known to be a meandering author. There are 2 types of authors - they even have literary lingo for those two. One group of writers plan out the rought outline of a story from beginning to end, then flesh out the story within. The other group of authors are on the likes of Martin whose story gets changed as they write, who gets side-tracked into numerous dead-ends etc.

Reymond E Feist for example is a fantasy author whose books I read - who had planned the story meticously:



The story arcs are fantastic and there is plenty of adult moments in it while the main gist follows a rather positive outlook on life. Of course those kind of books can never be picked up by Hollywood because the 666(((sheisters)))666 want something deconstructive, postmodernist, anti-human, anti-Western.

A story about 2 village boys - one becoming the greatest magician - the other the greatest knight/fighter? Nah - that ain't right. It's 2019 after all.

I don't know why there is so much complaining. We knew the final episode wouldn't be a masterpiece of writing or resolve all the plot holes.

At least it did a decent job of shutting down SJW celebration.

Giving the vote to the masses was laughed at, a male became king, the tradition destroying mad queen was put down before she could spread her "liberation" and ruin the entire world in the same of social justice. The invaders from Essos (who were portrayed as brutal and savage) realized that they wouldn't assimilate and instead chose to leave Westeros.

That was as disappointing as expected. More boring really than anything. It kind of felt like two different episodes crammed into one. First thirty minutes was dark and foreboding, and then Jon killed Dany and the tone shifted to a lighthearted affair. Ah well, before we shit on D&D one last time I'll give them a little credit:

-Jon actually pet Ghost

-Throne scene with Dany and Jon

-Brienne writing about Jaime in the White Book

Now all the cringe moments:

-Jon killing Dany lacked the appropriate context to make the moment feel earned. Tyrion has a meta moment and basically explains to the audience why Jon needs to kill Dany (he even says "we" cheered for her lmao) and then Jon stabs her and she instantly dies without saying a word.

I can enjoy the schadenfreude of seeing all the feminists meltdown while also recognizing how much D&D shafted her arc. Episode 3 she saves the world>>>Episode 5 bells ring and she commits the greatest crime against humanity seen in the history of Westeros.

-The council of the Seven Kingdoms or whatever that was was laughably bad. They brought back Edmure after all this time just to have Sansa shit on him for a joke

-Nameless Prince of Dorne cast to sit there and say nothing

-Tyrion gives the most pitiful explanation for Bran to be King (he has the best story wut?) and after listening to this one speech everyone instantly agrees he should be King? Ten minutes to change the entire system of power in Westeros and that's it?

Tyrion: "Anyone else? No? Alright pizza and bowling on me after!"

-Sansa says the North should be independent after and once again no one even gives a shit? I guess D&D kind of forgot how recently the Iron Islands rebelled and how Dany promised Yara independence just last season. Or how Dorne was so fiercely independent that they were the only Kingdom not to bend the knee to Aegon I in the first Conquest. Fucking awful

-The logic of having a Godlike figure like Bran who has become so detached from humanity as King. Bonus points for having a Stark ruler whose own house isn't even part of the Six Kingdoms anymore. I guess we missed the scene beforehand where everyone agreed the Starks have suffered so much that they should rule all of Westeros.

-Arya just fucking off to nowhere. What is even the point of her arc? That she's a strong, independent wahman now who is gonna go out into the big unknown and kick ass? Whatever

-Bronn shows up out of nowhere with his completely nonsensical threats having worked. I wish we could have seen Tyrion explain that one to Bran.

Tyrion: "Oh hey Bran the Broken, before I forget, this cutthroat whoremonger threatened me with a crossbow a couple episodes back. Let's make him Lord of the Reach and Master of Coin."

Bran: "As it was always fated."

-Jon shafted as usual. Given no independent agency and then sent to the Wall to just chill with the Wildlings? We are supposed to believe that people are just gonna go to the wall to hangout for no reason?

-The ending feels incomplete. So after years of conflict and houses backstabbing one another in the fight for power and glory everyone is just gonna work together and peacefully elect a new King whenever needed? Get the fuck outta here D&D.

Anyways, it's all over. As for the thread, in the words of the greatest King to rule during the course of the show...

Unlikely. Of all the scenes that Jon has with Ghost across the series ...





... the one at 5:37 is the only one that looks like the season 8 interaction, and Jon pets Ghost with his left hand, not his right. They might've used the same CGI for Ghost, maybe, but there's nothing terribly wrong with that. I'll happily crucify D&D for bad writing, but I've been watching the leaks a long time and those referring to the finale did mention Jon reuniting with Ghost, this likely wasn't a last-minute throw-in.

It's the bullshit crap that make characters behave insanely, giving Jon - the true heir and hero of the story - nothing. Oh - he got to kill the queen who saved their ass. Or maybe she did not save jack shit, because super-Arya did it.

And what the fuck was the bullshit about Arya suddenly turning Dora the Explorer? Oh yeah - there was a foreshadowing of her once looking at the statue of Braavos.

Fuck off - most idiotic show relative to budget. Waterworld is by comparison a masterpiece that is well-thought and genius in writing.

Seriously, Jon is just a fable while Sansa and other Stark relatives talk about him in jail. Grey Worm didnt kill him. He sails off? Doesn't sound like he gives much of a fuck. But the one true heir does nothing and then just is sent like a bitch up north for no real reason.

It's not even stupid, the ending. Like nearly every arc besides Clegane, it actually makes no sense. At all. It makes you feel stupid for having watched it. I'm trying to figure out if its outright indifference/ laziness or sabotage by the triple bracket boys.

I would also like to mention that valid criticism was always welcome in the creative process. Sure - sometimes it got to the likes of George Lucas by the wrong end, because part of the criticism that was heapon on him was stupid. Compared to idiocracy that Disney is doing then everything he did was a masterpiece.

Ethan Van Sciver from the comics industry once said that Marvel as well as DC comics had a nice system of creating heroes. They would pump out a fictional character and actively ask for feedback on what to improve upon. That is why Superman got so many powers on top of his first original ones where he was a somewhat stronger man who could jump higher. The same was true for countless other characters - plus sales of the comics had to back it up. So it wasn't just the most active users or the outraged ones writing letters. Most characters DC and Marvel created were shelved - they literally got nowhere. Less than 1% became the successes of Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Hulk - countless more were duds.

Nowadays the Hollywood elite are so insane that they would pump out the most unpopular creations and tell you to love the character or you are a misogynist, sexist, racist! You loved the GOT show because of clever writing and gritty realism? Fuck you - you get bigger explosions and the Cleganebowl on top of shitty writing! You moron will lap it up and lick Rian Johnson's asshole.

Imagine when Marvel actively asks for criticism and evalues it squarely whether they have a point. No one does that anymore. This is apart from many other reasons why the West will go down.

Makes sense that the less talented actors defend the show out of fear. The actor would played Jamie was phenomenal in Shot Caller. The actor who played Dany can act her ass off too. I cant imagine Jon's actor pulling off a star roll though. Great for this show, but I dont get the impression he has as wide a range. Maybe it was just the writing though.
